For Cotto...The Jab, timing is everything, and to frustrate the speed prone fighter, the jab is paramount. Capitlizing on wild punches from manny (the awrkward left hook that leaves the midsection open), and definitely closing the distance, pressuring and using his superior punching power on the inside, because if Manny gets a rythim going from the outside, it's over by points. Cotto needs to keep his hands up ata side angle, where the punches will hit forearms, and the the uppercut will hit elbows. Cotto also needs to take a firm stance and not move backwards as much as in his last few fights, simply because Manny's Good coming forward, and even though Cotto has decent counterpunching skills, they may be to no effect if he's on the back peddle, and trying to time manny. It won't work.
For Manny...speed at awkward angles, get a decent jab going, and simply try to stay away from exchanges on the inside with the heavier handed Cotto. Manny needs to have excellent lateral head movement, and move towards Cotto's right, constantly, to stay away from Cotto's hard left hook. Manny needs to throw punches in bunches (only if he's certain he can do it without getting into an inside brawl), and use boxing skills that he has, but has refused to use in the past, because of his well known dislike for being hit. Cotto's jab may frustrate him into making the mistake of forsaking caution for the chance to get some good licks in, and that can prove fatal in this fight.
IMO, Cotto takes it in the 10th or 11th round only if manny forgets to box and decides to brawl. Manny takes it if Cotto starts to backpeddle without jabbing constantly, because Manny will switch into Hunter Killer mode and track him down for either a barrage of points, or a KO.
