I know this board is full of people who have been watching boxing for a while, but which fighter, in the present of past, had/has the livest crowd.
I say Tyson in his prime. During the prefight, during fight and post fight, people coming to see him would go crazy. I have never seen a crowd as live as I have seen during a Tyson fight.
Also as much as people diss Hatton...those brits really representing during all his fights.
I know what the question was. If you read my first post I said I mentioned Hatton. But, I gave it to Trinidad. And, I gave an example to why I gave it to Trinidad. And, that there was nothing like atmosphere for Trinidad-Joppy. Champ also made the example of Trinidad-Mayorga. I could keep on going of Trinidad fight that was just an amazing atmosphere. where there was electricity in the air. But, I gave an example of the his biggest night.
And, again we were talking about atmosphere, electricity. Even before the fight you can feel it. hopkins-Trinidad befere the fight even started there was no electricity. The atmosphere was not like his prior bouts. AGAIN WE ARE TALKING BEFORE THE MAIN EVENT EVEN STARTS. And, it was mostly because of the 9/11 attacks. It was just 2 weeks after the attacks and the fight took place in NY where the attacks happened.
I agree that 9/11 took the electricity out of the event for Tito/Hopkins.
Tito had the passion and the power to have crazy loud fans as referenced in his greatest performances. Like the Joppy fight.
But where were they when he was getting shut out by Hopkins and Winky?? Silent.
Where was Hatton's fan's when he was getting worked over by Money May and dismantled by Pacquaio....they were singing and screaming all the same.
So again, which fighter had the liveliest crowd?
Ricky Hatton.
The Tito crowd was silent against Hopkins because B-Hop shut them up from start to finish.
And the question wasn't, which fight had the liveliest crowd, but which FIGHTER had the liveliest crowd. And that answer is none other than.....
Ricky Hatton.
Hands down. No matter who he fought they were screaming and singing from start to finish.

I'm not sure... But I think Acelino Frietas vs. Jorge Barrios had a wild crowd (though I don't think it was too big)... Brazilians is what I think the crowd was mostly made up of.
I give this one to Ricky Hatton.. I've never seen the kind of fan he had it's itsane. One week before the fight they are already all over the place having their party drinking and they are so loud nothing compare. Iron Mike is my second.
LOL, they're british. They party hard, loud and drink no matter what's going on. They even had a Hatton got KTFO party after the fight. Gotta love British sense of mourning. :boxing:

But, you also have to remember that Tito/Hopkins happened 2weeks after the 9/11 attacks. I think that was a huge reason why the atmosphere was not electric.

Tito - Joppy, Tito - Mayorga, Tito - Oscar, Tito - The list goes on. Almost all of Tito's fights have been huge PPV sales, and his wins ended up in Parades, All night Parties, and even, on several occasions, The entire nation being on hold for his welcoming parades and activities. To date, Tito's been one of the top PPV draws in boxing history, not the best mind you, but one of them. I'd give it to Tito IMO, just because every one he fought pre-Hop, was the top guy in the ranks, and that caused a hell of a commotion in the boxing fan base.
Reed said that Cotto/Mosley was a crazier atmosphere than Tito/Hopkins.
yea, I had a hard time believing that too, but that's pretty crazy.
As for the question....Ricky Hatton no doubt. Possibly the best fans in any sport.

Hatton has loyal fans who went nuts for him.
My pick though would be Trinidad. Hell I am not even PRican and Tito is my #1 favorite fighter of all time. It was hard not to admire the guy. If you was a boxing fan. You was a Trinidad fan. I was not in attendance. But, I heard that there has never been electricity in the air like the night Trinidad fougth Joppy.

Tyson vs Berbick & Spinks holy shit the noise was deafening !!!!!
Personal experiences for me that stand out actually being there would be Hatton vs Maussa @ the MEN the noise was incredible as he entered the arena !!!!!
Calzaghe vs Kessler , 50'000 people in Cardiff was a bit special too !!!!!
On the television id have to say that Marquez Pacquiao 2 blew me away in terms of crowd noise levels !!!!!!
