Manny Pacquiao is probably one of the greatest P4P fighters ever. Who's debating that ? He moved up like 8 damn divisions.
That doesnt mean overall hes better than floyd. Hes just a better P4P fighter due to him being able to move up from 112lbs to 154lbs.
comparing Manny to Floyd is really apples to oranges.
Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I am only posting what another boxing analyst feels about who's the better P4P fighter, just like how you posted the opinions of the boxing analysts from ESPN.
Kell > Jesse Vargas
Errol > Horn lol & Lucas
Garcia > Broner
you place too much emphasis on titles rather than the fighters themselves
Ice try
Titles don't hold value anymore?
yes beltholders in modern times that’s diluted with championships
Lower level contenders
Jesse Vargas WBO welterweight champ - 2016 (Who should have Pacquiao fought)?
Jeff Horn WBO Inter-Continental welterweight champ - 2017 (Who should have Pacquiao fought)?
Lucas Matthysse WBA (Regular) welterweight champ - 2018 (Who should have Pacquiao fought)?
Of course they do, but titles ain’t what they used to be. How many divisional titles did Ray Robison ever hold? How many do you think he’d have if he competed in the last twenty years? You have to take this idea into consideration.
So, a boxer should secure a non-title fight over a title fight that is easily winnable? Why on earth would a boxer do that? A title win will set you up for bigger fights and the right to demand a higher purse.
Vargas Horn Lucas Broner was manny’s cherry spree
and it worked
those two easy years limited the punishment allowing manny to prolong his career
ultimately achieving longevity
El Chino disagree.
Jesse Vargas was the WBO welterweight champ
Jeff Horn was the WBO Inter-Continental welterweight champ
Lucas Matthysse was the WBA welterweight champ
yes beltholders in modern times that’s diluted with championships
Lower level contenders
Still belt holders nonetheless, all those fighters mentioned were champion at the time Pacquiao faced them. You can't fault a fighter for picking easy opponents who are belt holders. Remember this famous slogan, "fight smarter, not harder". Does this only applies to certain fighters?
buncha cherries
Kell Errol Shawn Garcia were the SUPERIOR welters
manny stayed with bop for as long as possible for that weak welter roster
Kell Brook was the IBF welterweight champ in 2016, you are mad at Pacquiao for going for the WBO welterweight title instead? Kell Brook also moved up to middleweight in 2017-2018.
Errol Spence was the IBF welterweight champ in 2016-2019, you are mad at Pacquiao for going for the WBO/WBA title instead?
Danny Garcia wasn't a title holder for the most part in 2017-2018. (Bob Arum/TR did offer Team Garcia a fight, they priced themselves out of it).
According to Fight Hub’s Marcos Villegas, Top Rank Promotions chief Bob Arum extended a 7-figure proposal to Garcia that amounted from $3 million to $4 million to face Pacquiao. However, his father and trainer Angel Garcia was the one who received the offer and opted to turn it down.
Danny Garcia fought Robert Guerrero in 2016 $1.5 million.
Danny Gracia fought Keith Thurman in 2017 for $2 million.
both were at top rank for a long time
manny should have fought TBud but didn't
TBud is a fast adjusting two handed counterpuncher with one punch ko power in every weight he shares with manny
TBud woud hurt any version of manny
TBud wanted the fight at 140! Stop acting like TBud didn't demand this! Why wasn't TBud as confidence then as he is now? Why did the fight must be at 140 for Pacquiao?
Promoter Bob Arum repeatedly stated that Terence Crawford was not a pay-per-view (PPV) draw and that Top Rank lost money on his fights, which was one of several factors that prevented a matchup with Manny Pacquiao during their time together.
Pacquiao's age and demands: While Crawford was still with Top Rank, Pacquiao was an aging superstar with high financial demands. In 2017, Pacquiao's camp reportedly requested a $20 million guarantee to fight Crawford. Arum considered these financial demands a "non-starter" for a potential PPV.
Financial risk for Arum: A fight between Crawford and Pacquiao would have required a large financial commitment. Since Arum claimed Crawford was not a major PPV draw, he would have been taking a significant risk by paying Pacquiao such a high sum to fight a less commercially popular opponent.
and TBud gets what should be an easy fight after coming off a big one
an easy fight to compensate for him usually being a one a year guy
2026
Erislandy
probably Janibek
2027
Whichever easy opponent TBud wants as a retirement goodbye match
Aka a cherry pick fight after beating a washed Canelo? I thought these type of fights were frowned upon on here?
Jessie-Jeff-Lucas-Adrien:rofl: is worst than Jermell-Jaime-Edgar-William:lol1:
hallelujah we have new better faces of boxing
"the fight must be at 140" :haha:
Gorges-Paredes-Siqueira-Sanabria
Because Freddy Roach and Bob Arum publicly acknowledged that Pacquiao would get his ass kicked and neither wanted the fight.
That has nothing to do with TBud demanding the fight to be at 140. If Freddie and Arum say Pacquiao would get his ass kicked, then why would TBud demand the fight at 140 and not 147? Another salty TBud fan making no sense.
Roach respects Crawford’s ability, but doesn’t think he is ready to topple Pacquiao, particularly at 147 pounds, the weight at which Roach wants them to fight. He suspects Arum wants to use an aging Pacquiao’s star power to help build Crawford into a bigger attraction.
“ wants that fight,” Roach said. “The thing is, I think he’s trying to make Crawford into a bigger star. If he beat Manny, it would help. But I think Manny can beat him. The thing is, I mean, he is a good fighter. I do respect him. He’s a very good boxer. He can move. He can run like hell if he wants to. But can he beat Manny? I don’t think so.”
Finally, someone gets it! What do you mean that Bud just might do it? He is going to do it. Bud said his strategy is to start early and win every round.
That’s what I have been saying for these past few weeks. The reason being is that he is the hungrier of the two and wants it a lot more.
I respectfully disagree. Canelo has more to lose here so he's the one who's going to be fighting at an intense level. The excuses are in for Bud when he loses, "I went up two weight classes", "he was the bigger guy", "I have never fought at 168". As for Canelo, what is he going to say if he loses? The critics will criticize Canelo for losing to a smaller guy! This is why this fight is more important for Canelo.
This is what Crawford also said about Manny.
"Pacquiao earned the right to go out how he wants to go out, he done fought everybody there was to fight, when they were able to fight. He fought all the top names, eight-division champion. He accomplished everything there is to accomplish in this sport of boxing. So if he chose to go out with some fights of his choice, he deserves that. He earned that right".

Rematch won't change a thing. The fight wasn't close so maybe if there's a rematch, Canelo will finally win 3 rounds?
Canelo's style just doesn't do well with boxers. Floyd, Lara, Bivol, even Scull. Canelo cannot deal with boxers that move around. Canelo likes someone who stands in front of him and trade.
TBud would be an awful night for manny
they southpaw so TBud gets an open lane for his jab
it'd be landing way more than Floyd's stick did
manny gets picked apart by the open lane jab
becomes increasingly desperate and starts lunging in
to get countered by southpaw right hook into oblivion
TBud has one punch ko power in all of the weights in common with manny
Cap! TBud was getting lit up by Gamboa and Pacquiao is a lot faster and stronger and uses more angle. There's a reason why TBud wanted the fight to be at 140. Why wasn't TBud as confidence against a fight with Pacquiao at 147 like he was with Canelo at 168? Asks yourself that!
Imo, No. His claim to fame was losing to Floyd. Also GBP/Oscar had a lot do to with Canelo's success. GBP/Oscar did a good job at promoting Canelo and putting him in the right direction to demand high purses even after leaving GBP.
Canelo's high purse is because he copied Floyd's blueprint by fighting only during the 2 Mexican holiday, and since Canelo is Mexican, this plays a major role for him demanding a high purse because the Mexican fans will be tuning in. But overall, Canelo is a boring fighter. He's been a boring fighter since knocking Amir Khan out. Then his popularity increased again after knocking drunk Kovalev out. But aside from those 2 fights, the rest of his fights were a snooze fest to me.
Floyd always give props to other fighters. Just don't compare them to Floyd or else he's going to go on a rant talking how he's the greatest. It' a backhanded compliment that Floyd does.
TBud is a multi-dimensional fighter
As we saw with Saul fight he knows when to focus on boxing the opponent VS brawling with them
he would not go brawling with manny from start to finish
soften him up with jabs, straights, and counters in the first half
go in for the kill beyond round 6
Canelo was slow as shit!! Low output. Throws one punch at a time, slow on his feet. 147 Pacquiao is a different animal!
Funny that the narrative now is that Bob is protecting Manny when before, it was Bob is milking Manny dry and doesn't care about him. "when Pacquiao leaves Arum and Top Rank, the truth will come out". Now, it's "Arum was protecting Manny because Arum cares about him".
Fight could of happened but TBud wanted the fight to be at 140.
I am flattered as you desperately double post just for me
In 2016 manny opted to fight the great Jessie:rofl: instead of risking it for 140 immortality by facing the unified champ TBud:lol1:
your mind working overtime to find a defense for manny rofl
but it is futile
Why would the A-side go down in weight, Canelo didn't. Why didn't TBud go up in weight like he did against Canelo? "must fight me at 140" :haha:
I remember that
Floyd was impressed with manny's footwork
poor manny was perma salted by Floyd's counters and hasn't ever been able to credit him lol
manny does have the goat southpaw straight backhand so there's that
But you said no boxers have said Manny is the best. That's a load of cow dung.
Mike Tyson, Holyfield, Erik Morales, Barrera, De la Hoya, Hatton, Benavidez, just to name a few.
Floyd said Manny is probably the best he's faced. So if Manny is not one of the best according to you, then does Floyd have a weak resume if Floyd picked Manny as the best he's faced?
