Doubt it.
You want to know what is the most telling portion of the article?
"HBO, which produced and distributed the pay per view, declined comment."
and "according to multiple sources"
The only times a network will decline comment is if the numbers being stated are incorrect. They aren't allowed to release the numbers. They can only confirm when their client releases them first. When they decline comment; the numbers aren't correct.
Bob waited so long to inflate the f--- out these numbers.
These aren't official. Im gonna wait for Dan Rafael to correct them like he did for the Rios fight. Bob tries to inflate numbers to increase leverage.
Realistically, this fight did around 500k to 650k Nothing better. Wait for it. It'll come.
790k still good numbers but not when he has to get 1.5 to break even then again its not his fault showtime are idiot's ..The guy has drawing power every wannabe baller orders this fight to just to say they did
I hate when people say things like this, but don't know the facts.
1. He gets paid from CBS. His purse isn't being paid by SHO. Espinoza made that clear on his twitter. SHO is paying for his opponents purses not his. His deal is with SHO/CBS.
2. He's guaranteed 32 million at minimum. It already has a 15 million dollar gate. That's a remaining 17 million dollars that the event has to generate. At a price of 75 dollars which is the price in the US. It could do 700,000 buys, and it would still generate $52,500,000. You take his extra 17 million out of there for his purse. And thats still $35,500,000. And that's at a bare minimum of 700k buys, which in all likelihood it would bring in more than that. If the fight brings in the million its expected too. thats $75,000,000. Where the hell is the SHO losing money? They're making more money than they ever have. Fro their to be a negative differential. With the PPV price, this card would have to do 400k buys.
400k times 75 = $30000000 plus the live gate = 45,000,000.
Even then there'd still be a profit. His purse isn't big enough for them to take losses. This fight would have to tank on some next level s--t for them to take a loss. Maybe something like 350K buys. CBS isn't stupid.
1.1 million
If Floyd can do 850k with Guerrero who no one outside of hardcores knew. Who didn't even bring latino fans to the fight because he's an Americanized latino who doesn't even speak spanish
Then he can do a million with a spanish speaking latin fighter who's coming off the biggest win of his career, against who most casuals saw as the heir to Mayweather. with a major belt, ad That Broner fight created a huge social media stir, and twitter is buzzing about the fight right now
Casuals are eating it up.
1.1 million.
Oh stop it. Cotto won only two rounds.
I know. I love Cotto. By far my favorite fighter growing up . But he has nothing for Floyd.
Cotto gave Pac a ruptured ear drum and a ****ed up face. All he did against Floyd was give him a bloody nose. It wasn't a tough fight for Floyd. He almost dropped him in the 12th too if I remember correctly.
I gave Cotto 2 rounds that fight. 3 if you're being generous.
Anyone who's saying Khan would beat Floyd is crazy.
Floyd wasn't outboxed, he was mugged, lowblows, headbutts, and a knee and a 17 pound weight advantage (148 to 165 ).
Khan Vs Money would be boxing. And he's still the best BOXER in the world
He's not a better boxer than Floyd. He got swarmed, not outboxed and dominated. He didn't look slow to me either. He just didn't have time to think. Once he started to control the tempo he looked fast and his reflexes were still there. I saw some shots missing by a hair per usual with Floyd
P.S
Im impressed with Money;s chin. Im sold on it actually. It's solid. He got hit with a couple of good shots and took it like a G.

Maidana had Khan and Broner in full Bambi mode.

nacho, I'm afraid that Mr Juan is on the down slide now. He just got bested by a fighter that Pacquiao basically played with for 12 rounds. Proves the "Lucky Punch" debate ,doesn't it?.
Pacquiao won that Bradley fight, but looked terrible in it. Beyond terrible. He didn't dominate Bradley at all. I had him winning by 2 rounds. thats it.
I'd put my money on Bradley in a rematch though.
garcia hasn't even set foot at 147 so why would anybody want to see him fight floyd at this point?
My guess is because they are around the same weight.
They both came in at 150 for their last fights at "The One".
And their both two of my favorite fighters. Danny keeps proving everyone wrong. Literally EVERY time he fights. But I don't think he's ready yet. Its not even the weight thats a problem. because if he does come up to 147 hes almost guaranteed to have some weight on Floyd when they fight. But it's more so the gap in skill. He doesnt bring anything up to the table for Floyd, not that I can think of. Theres really no one right now that can beat him, out of the fights that can be made.
Wow, i live in california, so the fight is hot up here! People i work with are betting big money, and even casuals know about it! You must live in a small populated state.
I live in New York and no one is talking about it. Im trying to find some people to order it with, but no one's down.
it pains to see so many supporting floyd and his "wins" if I want to see someone "outpoint" their opponent, ill watch the olympics or basketball... this here is a warriors sport, something floyd knows very little about
Boxing is a thinking mans sport. The thinkers have always been the most dominant fighters in the history of the sport.
Don't say otherwise, you make yourself look stupid.
And if another mans success "pains" you, then you need to do more with your life.
Warriors are only warriors when they need to be. If someone good enough comes along and takes the warrior out of him, then Im sure he will. But present day, he's too good, and its not going to happen.
Only problem with what Amir is saying is that Floyd has never been outboxed either. And has fought better comp than Khan.
Neither have been outboxed, but one of them has faced better competition and is undefeated. The other has been down more than Skin Diamond. I'm going with the undefeated guy.
Floyd is just too smart for Khan, and will have time to think. He wont be ambushed and mugged like Chino did. Khan will try to box, and khan will lose, and then he'll retire. He's based his entire career off of being the guy to beat Floyd.
Once that doesnt come true, I can't see him wanting to box anymore.
Floyd already avoided Khan once, but now it's likely he might keep doing that. Especially after we saw how Khan had an easier time with a fresher Maidana than Floyd did with a slightly shotworn version of Maidana. I wouldn't be surprised if Floyd ducked Khan again, the pattern has already been established and now he might be even more cautious of fighting Khan.
The Maidana that Khan beat is not the Maidana thats under Garcia.
Dont kid yourself.
.
Maidana under Garcia/Ariza actually has a jab and is very well conditioned and is BIGGER than the Maidana Khan fought. CHINO came into the Floyd fight a 165 pound Bulldozer with good stamina and good technique.
Maidana under Garcia does to Khan what he did to Broner. Maybe worse
because people like you talk crap about a descent human being. I would rather take your insults than have him take it because he's probably a better person than you and me.
It has nothing to do with him as a person. I don't know him personally, so I could never lose sleep, or try to make someone lose sleep because of him criticizing him. I legitimately do not care about him on a personal level. People hate his fans because they are irrational.
He's not perfect. He's admitted to cheating on his wife, alcoholism, gambling etc. Which is fine, because we are all humans and we are all a sum of our mistakes, as it is a part of the human experience, mistakes and lessons. The problem with his fans is that you will call out another man's character on his shortcomings (i.e Floyd Mayweather) yet absolve Pacquiao's shortcomings all in the name of making a point. I don't care about either of them on a personal level, because I don't know either of him. But if anyone is going to call Floyd Mayweather a "Coward Woman Beater" than at least have it go both ways, and they don't. They'll criticize Mayweather for not fighting said opponent, but will have no problem that Manny Pacquiao isnt fighting said opponent. They'll criticize Mayweather's opposition, yet praise Pacquiao when he beats the opposition at a later date, or off a loss.
That is why people hate his fans, not the person. I love that I got to see him fight. Both him and Floyd, are once in a lifetime talents. So it's a gift to see them fight. People are so obsessed with hating both sides, that they are missing out on talents that will not be seen again for a long time. I support both Floyd and Manny, I'm just not blind to either side.
I dont care wha anyone says. The Mayweather fans have been trying to sing a diferent tune to the fight since it ended. There were way to many swing rds for it not to be a 7-5 either way type if fight. Youcould easily argue Maidana won 8, 12 also. He definitely won 10. It wasnt just a first half fight.
But none of that matters now. The fight is 5 days away. Sing all the tunes you want. There is no hiding now.
We'll see in a few days. After Maidana loses http://www.thecoli.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/sass2.png
I'll hand it to Khan - at least he's passionate about fighting Floyd. In fact, you can probably call it an obsession. I wish Pacquiao had that kind of desire. I mean Khan's working 24/7 to get the fight made. If Pac was putting in half of that effort we might have already seen the super fight.
Yes, Floyd is beatable. But the problem is, Khan, you are even more beatable! You talk like his flaws are bigger than yours. Unbelievable.
Add to the fact that Floyd is 37. While Khan is 27. A 27 year old Floyd wipes out a 27 year old Khan. And a 37 year old Floyd, outclasses a 27 year old Khan.
don't got me marketed. Never bought any of his sh1t. been a boxing fan for 10 years now.
hes just not this god a lot of pppl seem to proclaim.
When I say Marketed, I mean hating and discrediting a man you dont know. You know who he is, and you spread his name, even when you dont know it. No one thinks hes a God, he's simply the best of his era. He's brash. He's disrespectful. He's ****y, but he's the best. Theres no one even close to him in the sport right now, in any division. He cant be beat, not from anyone in this era anyway
Im definitely watching this fight. Gonna invite some of the boys over and split it 6 ways.
I dunno why but I have this strange feeling Rios is gonna pull off the upset. I feel the same way now as I did before Marquez 4. Somethings gonna go terribly wrong. Rios doesnt have the tools to beat Pac, I just think some lucky sh-- is gonna happen.
Im gonna say Rios by surprising stoppage or KO. He better knock him out though, because he'll never win on those cards. EVER.
Very True Flinto, and if an Opponent, is a real Challenge, Our Hero,
Has His Road Blocks, to save His Pretty A$$, and the Precious 0!!!
Lol same people who said he wouldnt go near Canelo.
The first fight drew 700k. Pac isnt the star that he was then. This fight does 600k imo. Look forvArum to inflate the numbers, only to be corrected by Dan Rafael in an ESPN article
Open Your eyes
Canelo didnt sell this fight. You guys gotta open your eyes.
Whether people tune in to see Floyd lose or win, they still come out for him.
After he fights these guys, they can never hold crowds or ppv's on their own.
i.e Victor Ortiz, Cotto ( love him, just not a PPV draw anymore)
THEY ARE FLOYDS INDIRECT FANS. Canelo can't do a a PPV or a tour on his own.
Floyds formula is simple
The Hate + The Hype + The Love = Big PPV.
It doesnt matter who the fighter is as long as the public thinks he has a legitimate chance to win.
Mosley did 1.4 with Floyd
Ortiz did 1.4 with Floyd.
Cotto did 1.5 with Floyd.
And after these guys fade into obscurity and cant hold huge events anymore.
They come out for Floyd. it doesnt matter who he fights, as long as the public thinks he'll lose .
Stupid Post
Good post. Well, the drained Canelo part at least. Floyd has no balls and the weigh-in yesterday proved what I said all along. Floyd would've probably won anyway BUT Canelo is the real deal and he's improved on his flaws, which were stamina and punch output. If he fights Floyd again, He most likely stops him. This is exactly how he should've fought Floyd and I bet you he knows that now. Good win tonight and Lara is next. Everyone seems to over-rate him as well. Canelo is a better fighter and is going to KO him.
He wouldn't stop Floyd. His Stamina looked better because he barely had to use any footwork. Missing punches takes out more energy than landed ones, and Canelo couldn't miss tonight. Against Floyd he had to move. He was wasting energy with his footwork alone, and then missing punching, and then having to throw combinations that were hitting nothing but air.
He can't beat Floyd. Styles make fights.
Weird stuff. How can you fight like a ***** and Knock Corrales down what was it? Like 5 times? You didn't go undefeated because you weren't good enough to do it. Period.
Why are people saying Alvarez is a BUM now?????????????????
Isnt that always what happens after Floyd dismantles someone who was supposed to be a challenge?
War mayweather!
I grew up to him. First fight I ever saw was Mayweather-Chico.
I was 7 years old, and as a 20 year old man today Im more than happy to have him lead our era of boxing. Absolutely no holes in his boxing game. Im gonna miss him when hes gone.
Lol
"Me and Don King Got Along"
No wonder you and Don King got along. You both made a f--kload of money robbing fighters. I can't with this guy. It's hilarious.
like I said its sad its between khan/maidana.
Ortiz bum.
Maidanas left overs, after lost to 140 pound Josesito!!! LOL "he beat berto doe"
Guerrero bum "he beat BERTO DOE" Wheres JSK shot he beat berto too
Cotto past his prime, lost to trout immediately after floyde beat him
:alcoholic
Dafuq? LMAOOO?
Ortiz is a bum, then how DF was he champion and riding a 5 fight winning streak? and so what he lost to Josesito. What happens to these dudes after is none of FMJ's business.
Cotto past prime? :D Lol Floyd is 36. What is he right in the middle of his?
I learned a long time ago not to reason with FMJ haters. He's got you guys marketed so well its crazy. Enjoy boxing 2014 :boxing:
Well considering Maidana lost to Pacs sparring partner, it don't surprise people that FLoyd is expected to win. It don't show good Floyd is, if Floyd wanted to show how good he was he'd be fighting Pacs next opponents and see if he could beat Bradley as good as Pac did.
Or if Floyd was really good hed be fighting Miguels next opponent.
But Bradley beat Pac, no?
light heavyweight in the olympics starts at 75 kg, which is 165 pounds. and ends at 81 kg which is 178 lbs.
Ward is fine at 168, I'd like this fight to be made though. At maybe 172 .
