Why does Lederman always exaggerate his scorecards, you ask? Well, just to piss you off son!
:lol1:
Nah, but on a serious note (and I haven't seen this fight yet), Lederman has always been this way when it comes to certain fighters. My first eye opener about Lederman and how biased his judging was for certain fighters was listening to him and seeing his scorecards for a couple of Devon Alexanders fights. I remember his scorecard was so off for the Kotelnik (or maybe Matthysse, can't remember - probably both) fight, that he went in hard on air defending it because he was catching some heat for how wide he had it scored. Listening to him score (and then defend) some of Devon's early fights was disgusting, I couldn't take him seriously after that.
He clearly (like the other HBO commentators) already has his mind made up about certain fighters and the way they fight, before the fight even starts (also a LOT like Teddy Atlas). They've spent weeks before the fight, giving anyone and everyone whose asked, their opinions about how the fight is going to go. They're clearly biased (IMO) about what they think they're seeing and their views on the fight, before the fight even starts.
If I don't already have the fight on MUTE (because HBOs commentary has gotten so attrocious) when Lederman shouts his "OOOKAY JIM", long drawn out schpeel about how "this fight is being controlled by xxxxxx simply using his jab while coming foward" - I now ALWAYS mute old Harry's speeches. I used to find it hillarious whenever he was in on a long ramble and there would end up being something really exciting happening in the fight while he was talking, and when he would end up getting interrupted by the action, he would sound so irritated and just keep on talking about how so-and-so was winning every round easily (while meanwhile his guy was getting pummeled as he spoke).
I had high hopes that he'd go away when Larry did, but then again I'm just afraid that they'll replace him with that puppet Weisfeld. :nonono:
/end of ramble (doing my best Harold Lederman speechathon) :D
This is all just a media/fan reaction test done by Team Mayweather. There's a scheme here that seems fairly obvious to me. 1). A month or two before making an official decision, put out an opponents name in the media and make it sound like it's a done deal. 2). Team Mayweather wages in on the interest/reactions/opinions of the media/fans, focusing in on who will help make the most money. "Devon Alexander is next", anyone?? Alexander still ISN'T next, there's no money OR interest in him.
As far as announcing it so quickly, people eventually forget the things that Team Mayweather said before officially announcing who he's fighting next, probably because they're so damn glad he's NOT fighting the one they originally said he was. A "whew" moment, if you will. And if there IS an interest/upside with money, they have nothing to lose by throwing someones name out there because they end up fighting him anyway. It's a win-win situation for TM.
Common sense says - we all know that they (GBP/TM) always make an official announcement when it's a sealed deal and the papers are drawn up and signed. OR, FMJ tweets it himself on Twitter/Twatter. Right now, they're just looking to see if Mayweather/Khan is a fight people will pay PPV $$$ to see.
It was in 2011 I believe.
Yeah, I just finished watching and saw Ariza and Roach.
If Chavez could ever get some motivation back and dedicate himself to the sport, I think GGG and him would put on a FOTY type fight. As it stands now though, I just don't think Jr.s heart is in it anymore - and his last fight cost him a LOT of fans IMHO. Fans will stay dedicated to their fighters so long as the fighters themselves are too. Chavez's total lack of proffesionalism and his attitude throughout was a real turnoff to even the most loyal of his fans.
Side note: His cavalier attitude after the Vera fight (saying he thought he easily won 7-8 rounds) also tells me he's not being real with himself either. Too many "atta boy" and "yes" men around him his whole life did him no favors IMO.
a couple of years ago.
JR has "grown" since then, for lack of a better term. jr's weight is a farce anyway, as that guy uses drugs to drain himself to make weight.
Yep... I think it made it even more obvious this fight, that he COULDN'T use any diaretics coming off the suspension - and he didn't even attempt to try and make weight. He needs to move up in weight if he wants to be serious in this sport without having to cheat.
Maybe Garcia knocked some sense into him.:spankme:
By Golly! This kid finally gets it.
I don't know about that, actually. The fact that he is still managing to try and blame Roach for his losses, especially in mentioning sparring for the Garcia fight - is humorous to me, because there is a video on this very site that showed one of those sparring sessions where Roach SPECIFICALLY told Amir (after a round in which Amir was being tagged A LOT) NOT to be brawling in there. And Amir's answer was something to the effect of 'well that's not exciting, people want to see exciting'. Amir wanted to do what Amir wanted to do, which is fine, but.... how's he gonna sit there now and try to make it sound like Roach never said anything to him about anything? :lol1: It's on video ffs, and can't be denied.
No coach in the world is gonna do him any good if he only executes the plan when he 'feels like it'.
It was Ruben Tabares who told him to box. Roach was not present during the saprring session as he had other commitments
It was a different video... not the 24/7 one.
.....compared to this. This is just hilarious, and I had to share it with you (won't share the source, can easily guess where its from)
I apologise if posting other content is disallowed, I just hope you have a good read before its deleted if it is against the rules.
That's pretty funny that the author of that posting was basically sh1tting on Wards opposition, but then used triangle theories to support Cleverly's.
:haha:
I like Saul, I really do.... but he just beat up a 140 pounder YIPPEE. :nonono:
TBH Josesito did very well in the middle of the ring. You can't be on the ropes against Alvarez. And Lopez's punches had no affect on Alvarez.... and you can't beat Canelo unless you can hurt him - or outbox him Mayweather style. Mayweather can easily outbox Canelo.
I thought Peterson was his mandatory, and that it also went to purse split bid. GBP wasn't completely in the drivers seat on that fight, and Hunter wouldn't back down... AND THEN rather then dragging it out, Khan's ego said 'ok, whatever'.
You know, Ishe is such a great body puncher... and so successful with it - I'm really surprised he doesn't use the uppercut so much more. His body work gets his guys leaning in on the inside so early, he should really use the uppercut once the start bending in on the inside like that.
Haha... Steve Farhood just said this same thing at the end of round 6. Maybe he read my post :lol1: J/K
Garcia's gonna quit pretty soon.... complaining of not being able to breathe. He's mentally done, won't be long now...........
Ishe damn near abandoned his body punching and started head hunting
IMO if Ishe would have gone all body work he could've probably gotten Garcia to quit on his stool going in to the 9th. :nonono:
This probably isn't the right place for this question, but I'll ask anyway...
Just got done watching the prelim fight with Daquan Arnett. I saw Floyd Jr tweet that it was gonna be a great night of fights and that he was there already - Anyway, is Arnett with TMT? (or is Floyd still using Mayweather Promotions?) Arnett truly does look like a great prospect. For a 19 year old, he kept his composure very well - with the toughness of his opponent as well.
The only thing I can't stand though is when all these damn commentators are always suckling these prospects berries. It's beyone annoying when they completely overlook anything the current opponent does, and continually go on slathering the guy they're pumping on. :killyou:
Any1 watching the prelim fights on Shoextreme right now?
:lol1:
Yeah, just commented on it. Ishe Smith on now. Haven't seen him in a while, this fight is a MUST win for Ishe tonight.
Ishe looking solid...doing very solid work to the body
You know, Ishe is such a great body puncher... and so successful with it - I'm really surprised he doesn't use the uppercut so much more. His body work gets his guys leaning in on the inside so early, he should really use the uppercut once the start bending in on the inside like that.
Iceman is a good trainer, his only problem is he believed in his fighter more than his fighter believed in himself. You can only motivate a man so much.
^^^^THIS^^^^
There's not much more you can say to a fighter when you can't even get him to throw ANY punches. Take a look at the stats during the fight (although they're not always completely accurate, it tells A LOT). Several rounds he only landed ONE punch (out of 5 TOTAL punches thrown in the round IIRC). I can't even count the # of times I've watched of Chads in the last few years where they always show his trainer BEGGING him to throw some fkng punches. In the end, Scully was brutally honest with Chad telling him he can't win a decision and to go out there with everything he's got to try and make something happen.... and still no change in Chads determination. To be perfectly clear, I'm not taking anything away from Ward because he fought a beautiful fight... but it seems too common these days for everyone to blame the trainer of a fighter that lost, who just spent X number of weeks in training and already knows what the game plan is. During the fight, the trainer is just relaying to the fighter what he's seeing and what tactics to use... but if the fighter isn't listening or is unable/unwilling to listen, what else is the trainer supposed to do. TBH, no one here heard most of the instructions being given in that corner anyway... a few second snippets, inbetween replays and commentators talking about upcoming fights and showing the other corner.
As Hectari stated, there's only so much you can do with a guy who seems unmotivated. You know what they say - you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink it.
You're just jealous. Send over the contract then Lorily, i'll sign it!!! Fighters like you are just trying to get in me and Mayweather's spot.
I still got my 0 dough!!
Jelly? Son, please. Don't make me do a handstand on a street pole! (<---- must have seen that video to understand). I'll show you. Even if I get beat, I'm still undefeated. That's how GREAT I am! What's the excuse gonna be when it's time to sign up, huh?!? I'll send over the contract... but you know you gonna say something dumb like you accidently used it for toilet paper. :nonono:
:lol1:
When it's a fighter that has not been tested, taking weak comp, bieng hyped as the next best thing etc.... yes! There is too many that fit in this category surprisingly Chavez/Alvarez are the ones taking the heat the most. Some of these have the talent but scared to step up ( they don't make them like they used to) Overmatched oponents are getting old.
What pisses me off is the one's that lose the ∅ when they shouldn't have. Matthyse,Lara etc..
I agree forsure!! "He's technically undefeated" doesn't get the same respect given as "I still got dat 0" does. All that "0" is really is just a bargaining chip for mo money. :nono:
I can see Guerrero jabbing the sh1t out of Broner for 12 rounds
And making Broner miss.... A LOT. Broner's a lot like Chavez Jr. in the sense that he needs them to stand still in front of him.
Clearly this post doesn't apply to me.
Because I'm black from the waist down.
Damn those farmer John tans!!!
I told you to keep the shirt off, and the pants ON!! Damn are you hearing dyslexic????
:haha:
I never heard of being undefeated as a reason to dislike a fighter. That's stupid. If it's a guy like Broner who has never fought anybody that good and makes a huge deal out of his 0 I can see why that would make someone mad. If Broner would shut up and fight top fighters I think boxing fans would love him.
Pretty much ^^^^^
It only bugs me when they answer a question with...
"I still got my 0"
"I still got my 0"
"I still got my 0, dough"
"I still got my 0"
:lame:
Those are the kind of guys that will be CRUSHED if the 0 ever does go. Absolutely C-R-U-S-H-E-D.
Thanks...and yeah the fight should be at 135-140.
Guerrero is a joke for trying to make this kid come all the way up to 147.
If you want Broner so bad......fight at any weight.
Broner called Guerrero out on live T.V. ,after his last fight... somewhere inbetween all that nonsense girlfriend brushing his hair and doin all that "can can" ridiculousness. Besides, Broner pretty much fighting as a welterweight anyway :nonono:
Broner called Guerrero out first, they had a little twitter fight (thanks for that Phantom), and what the video shows is the result.
"I still got my 0."
I believe the twitter sh1t started AFTER Broner called out the Ghost after the Escobedo fight. You might have missed it in his post fight interview with Max, cause Broner was so busy trying to punk the crowd with a fake ass proposal to his girlfriend. Instead, he proposed to her to brush his hair. :lame:
He still got his 0 dough.
i wanted to see the video :(

This one's still up as of 5 minutes ago....
