He had JMM-Bradley wide for Bradley, having Bradley like 9-1 at one point if I remember correctly. He said things like "Pretty easy to score", despite the mid rounds having little to no fighter being dominant.
The fight was easy to score yet there's an awful lot of fans who had it close like 115-113, and some having it a draw(like me). Plus, two professional judges who really don't have corruption tied to their names, Robert Hoyle (2013: 114-112 for Garcia-Matthysse, 85-84 Lara-Angulo, 115-111 Abril-Bogere) had it 115-113 for Bradley, and Glenn Feldman (113-115 Malignaggi-Broner, 84-87 Burns-Gonzalez) had it 113-115 for Marquez.
Yet the fight was easy to score? HE also had Bradley-Pacquiao awfully wide, which also close. I feel that casual fans watching HBO would easily get sucked into Lederman's scorecard and take it as gospel, they are an exaggeration.
You can say Lederman has forgotten more about boxing than I will ever learn, but I think one of the things he forgot is how to score close fights.
Why does Lederman always exaggerate his scorecards, you ask? Well, just to piss you off son!
:lol1:
Nah, but on a serious note (and I haven't seen this fight yet), Lederman has always been this way when it comes to certain fighters. My first eye opener about Lederman and how biased his judging was for certain fighters was listening to him and seeing his scorecards for a couple of Devon Alexanders fights. I remember his scorecard was so off for the Kotelnik (or maybe Matthysse, can't remember - probably both) fight, that he went in hard on air defending it because he was catching some heat for how wide he had it scored. Listening to him score (and then defend) some of Devon's early fights was disgusting, I couldn't take him seriously after that.
He clearly (like the other HBO commentators) already has his mind made up about certain fighters and the way they fight, before the fight even starts (also a LOT like Teddy Atlas). They've spent weeks before the fight, giving anyone and everyone whose asked, their opinions about how the fight is going to go. They're clearly biased (IMO) about what they think they're seeing and their views on the fight, before the fight even starts.
If I don't already have the fight on MUTE (because HBOs commentary has gotten so attrocious) when Lederman shouts his "OOOKAY JIM", long drawn out schpeel about how "this fight is being controlled by xxxxxx simply using his jab while coming foward" - I now ALWAYS mute old Harry's speeches. I used to find it hillarious whenever he was in on a long ramble and there would end up being something really exciting happening in the fight while he was talking, and when he would end up getting interrupted by the action, he would sound so irritated and just keep on talking about how so-and-so was winning every round easily (while meanwhile his guy was getting pummeled as he spoke).
I had high hopes that he'd go away when Larry did, but then again I'm just afraid that they'll replace him with that puppet Weisfeld. :nonono:
/end of ramble (doing my best Harold Lederman speechathon) :D
A 2012 poster talking about what division was good in 2009. If you knew anything about boxing in 2009, you'd know the LW division was one of the hottest in 2009. JMM just took it by storm, knocking out Casamayor and Diaz, who BTW have never been knocked out prior to that. It was after JMM put the 135 division on a leash, that finally 168 took over.
You think I started following boxing in 2012?! Way to jump to a conclusion.
I already told you why his resume (bar Pacquiao) is overrated. I don't need to explain anything else to you since you completely failed at countering my argument. :bottle:
Marquez going life and death (twice) w/ Juan Diaz and beating an old Casamayor is nothing to be proud of. Any division where Juan Diaz is the #1 contender has got to be a sh*t division. Period.
Exactly in what way am I biased? That makes zero sense.
In one fight, where people claim robbery, I give Bradley the benefit of the doubt and had it a draw.
In anther fighter, which some people had Bradley winning wide, I don't agree and had it a draw.
So who am I being biased towards? Are you just using the word without even knowing what it means?
So you're backtracking now? You went to google and looked "biased" and saw you didn't even know what it meant? Now you are using a more brute word to make up for it.
:lol1:
trolls are a dime a dozen but the militant retards are always the more entertaining ones. T18Z never fails to entertain.
Lederman seems like he scores the round by whoever is busier or lands the most shots regardless of who landed the most significant shots or who was hurt.
Scoring was hard for this fight..
I gave jmm 1,3,9,10,11,12
I thought he swept the last for and probably had a draw,,,,
very tough fight to score, rounds 3,4, 9, 10 could have gone either way....
If you look at some of the posts, the rounds given to each guy is all over the place, I think bradley did enough to win
Goes to show just how strong the lightweight division was back then... :pat: The last thing I remember from Diaz was Malinaggi rocking him around the ring.
That list of opponents is pretty weak once you remove Pacquiao. Do you even realize how old and (more importantly) shot Casamayor and Barrera were when Marquez fought them? As it is actually scored the the Barrera fight for Barrera, I thought he was clearly robbed in that fight. Salido was an unknown journeyman when Marquez fought him (even the current Salido wouldn't be a big win).

SMH u mad.... JMM a one trick pony he has Pac to thank otherwise nobody would care for him! He should just be thankful that he got all those rematches to make a name for himself!
you literally dont know **** about boxing to call a legend like Juan a one trick pony. get a life
i had it close but even though it was competitive that doesnt mean that it cant be a wide score. I can see it being wide for bradley. nothing wrong with that score card. he controlled the whole fight besides the first round
He beat Pacquiao, Barrera, Casamayor, Diaz, John*, Salido, Sanchez just to name a few. Also, his LW reign was way more legit than beating just a David Diaz. He became The Ring champ there and then defended it against the #1 ranked Juan Diaz.

A lot of people had it close. I had it a draw.
I gave Marquez, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 12
1 was clear and close, same with 3.
5, 6 depends how ou score fights. Bradley worked the jab well, but between the two rounds threw like 10power shots, and landed maybe 1, while Marquez landed some good shots here and there.
10 Marquez controlled it and stunned Bradley slightly.
12 Marquez dominated. Bradley didn't do anything as he thought he had it in the bag. I completely disagree with Kellerman that one big shot for Bradle in the last second seals the rd, making everything Marquez did irrelevant. What an idiot. He even went as far as to say you are an incompetent judge if you disagree.
how could you give marquez round 12
get off his dick
Lederman is a joke. He had pac winning every fight with JMM and had calzaghe beating hopkins. It just goe to show if all you do is go forward and throw more punches he will give you the nod.
Smh at all the pac nuthuggers coming back out calling jmm a whiner. Still butthurt jmm KOd their hero

^^^^^ Literally Lederman's criteria.
I honestly had it 118-110. I only gave Marquez the last 2 and I thought the first could have gone either way but I gave it to Bradley for his activity.

You are ****ting on Pac basically again, I had Pac winning and Bradley beating JMM ( I am a marquez fan as well)
Lederman's score cards are bad but I don't have an issue with the way he scored Bradley v Marquez. A lot of boxing fans fall into the trap of distributing rounds if they believe a fight is even as opposed to scoring each round in isolation. I personally had Bradley winning 8 rounds.
I couldn't watch it. He scores for whoever moves their hands most.
He does,I think he has admitted before that he gives preference to activity. No matter how ineffective.
