Nice one I forgot, very appropriate.
Bro, do you remember the opening words from X?
This is life- This is what I know
So to me, this is life
^^^ That sums up how i feel about boxing. Those words and the chorus just pump me up. I listen to it everytime I train.
No mention of Pernell Whitaker?? Baffling.
Pernell got by with amazing skill and all-around talent. We couldn't JUST limit him to "Best outside boxer". That would be an injustice. Now, the guys who made the list, they made their careers on the outside.
Joe Louis and Lennox Lewis who were the best at fighting outside, amongst Heavies I mean
Definitely Lennox.... but Louis?
Louis was a tremendous body puncher and technician. He was actually bad on his feet, when it came to jabbing and moving.
The fighters tha he should've faced have already been outlined. His fans would most likely defend him by saying that he's asked for these fights, right?
He asks for them, yet takes another, easier fight instead. Rinse and repeat, and you have Calzaghe's career, in summary.
You come into threads where I've been active and post moronic statements. Its difficult not to chide you for your idiocy.
And why insult me? I've never once had to stoop as low as to call you idiotic. I guess that just shows how you can't argue well....
My friend who is a big Miguel Cotto fan admitted to me recently he felt there were questions about Mr. Cotto's career potential long before the Torres fight. He told me Miguel is slow, and doesn't appear to be a naturally fluid puncher.. I was surprised by this talk. He told me he's starting to have doubts about the fight with Zab Judah and he's a little angry with Cotto and his people for taking the fight.
Me personally - I honestly don't know that much about Miguel Cotto..
I just know what I've seen.
I have watched the entire careers of many of today's superstars.
One thing you notice about almost all of them:
At lighter weights, as they were coming up; men like Oscar De La Hoya, Felix Trinidad, Floyd Mayweather, Kostya Tszyu, Shane Mosley and even Arturo Gatti were blowing out the competition.
Early KO's, highlight reel exchanges, and all intensive dominance.
I've seen some of his early fights and some of his most recent - but I am not as familiar with Miguel Cotto.
I know I haven't seen any performances that rate with the men I've mentioned above. But, the man does have a very impressive KO percentage.
Do we have any Miguel Cotto experts here?
Is Miguel Cotto truly the next "Superstar?"
Cotto has already show an infintessimal amount of flaws in his style and skill level. There is no way that he reaches super-star status. I think he's already shown that he wouldn't hold up.
I'd take it as far as to say that that most of the top ranked WW's would defeat Cotto. That means Mosley, Margarito, even Williams. And certainly the Pretty Boy.
I think that Hatton would make short work of him, too.
And you seem to reply to every one like a stalker.
Also big fan of
Witter
Hatton
Haye
Macrenelli
Eastman
Alex Arthur
Winky
Darren Barker
John O,donnell
Amir Khan
Get on my World Cup Cricket Thread
and read some of my UK>America Threads.
Get off my case.
Im a Froch fan from Notts. Do you expect me not to Post when froch gets slagged off?? How many Threads have I started.
Im not as bad as Jangeorg is with Kessler.
He follows every post I've made. Any criticism towards a euro fighter makes Miksterious think you hate the guy.
I agree. But he'd earn more respect in a losing effort against one of those than he would beating up a shot to pieces Reid.
He'd be a big underdog against Kessler or Hopkins.
In the Kessler fight? Surely not.
But add in the factors of each fighters relative primes, and their stages in their respective careers, and you've got a Kessler win.
I've noticed alot of people saying that Joe is faster. I would have to correct them and say that he was faster than Kessler, in his prime. But we can't continue living in the past.
He could out-work him. He could well.
Cal attempts a flurry. Hopkins throws a straight right hand under his punches, connecting and promptly clinching.
What is this, you ask? It's none other than the future fight analysis of Cal vs. Hopkins.
Robin Reid was top of the bill on a Sports Network show tonight (main event of The Contender).
Warren, don't do it. Please..
Joe needs the Kessler's and Hopkins's now.
Cal gets beat by your "Kesslers and Hopkins".
I dont mind talk.. When it's just a fighter building himself up.. Fighters need to be confident and a little Psychological warfare is part of the game..
Its also acceptable if it's FUNNY and that is key.. Funny does NOT mean RUDE or disrespectful..BUt Funny.. Think Ali.. Rude.. Think Toney.. Disrespectful.. Think Floyd Mayweather..
By disrespectful I mean Putting down the guys you are fighting.. This just makes you look bad when you beat them.. because you have been calling them shit.. It belittles your OWN win.. Better to give the guy some respect ..Then when you win You beat a top a fighter .. not some BUM..
The public knows who the best is. If a fighter needs to yell "I'm fighting the best!", Chances are that he's a bit of a bluffer.
LOL, talk about the ultimate ignorant strawman arguments. :lol1:
I've noticed a lot of dumb fat Yanks on this site used this tool to argue... they haven't got the maturity or intelligence to debate, so they just put words in others' mouths and then shoot down these imaginary viewpoints.
You haven't even ASKED me what I think of the Reid-Ottke fight, nor confirmed whether or not you've seen it, but I see little things like that aren't important to you anyway, so I'm wasting my time...
Ok. I have seen the fight.
And I'm looking forward to your opinion on Ottke-Reid. Please talk.
And (not to be a smug cunt) I was born in Blackheath. Moved to Canada in '04. Just a pointer, mate.
as likeable as he is, denying his severe flaws shows shocking ignorance.
Flaws are acknowledged, friend.
But he would still school every fighter on there.
i was wondering how long it would take u lot to turn
it into another race hate thread
im wondering where the fuck
you got the race idea from
nobody is talking about black and white
that just shows that you
are too focused on race
See. I can make poems, too.
I made a statement that he was (really) a two-time world champion. Okay, put "world" if it makes it better. But he won the WBC against Vincenzo Nardiello, and I give him the Ottke fight. Have you seen the Ottke fight?
Yes.
Anorak says: "He was penalized for punching, blah blah..."
So what? He was penalized for low blows that were nowhere near low. Big deal, he lost a point. Fact is, he still lost, though the fight was close on the scorecards. He was outboxed.
Since when has Hank Wharton been a mock contender? If he was around today he'd clear out the division.
Wharton was well past his prime when he lost to Reid.
He fought Eubank when he was in his prime and did surprisingly well, though.
Are you a joke alt or extremely ignorant?
Why are you telling me he didn't beat Joe when I never even MENTIONED the Calzaghe fight?
What is a "Joke alt"?
And I'm mentioning it because it's relevant to Reid. We were discussing Robin Reid, remember?
Thats the one m8 that one Xenophobia lol
I wrote the post quick just to point out how mans can be dickheads
on here and jump all over any subject which mentions the mere words
usa/uk and then K-Nine the gangsta wigga Jumped all on board beating
his meat while typing away....
I was gonna go the Newcastle show myself glad i didnt now...
I'm half black, duke. So maybe I am a Gangster/Wigger. LOL....
Who the fuck is this clown?
Most expected Wharton to beat Eubank, who looked shot to pieces in getting gifts against Amaral and Schommer (and also looked rubbish against Close and Storey that year). No single pundit predicted Eubank would win if it went 12.
Personally I think Wharton was at his best in about '91, when he was punching guys clean out of the ring and Nigel Benn wanted nothing to do with him (when challenged on who was the most exciting puncher in Britain).
Let me tell you something. Henry (not Hank, as you put it) Wharton had a classic affliction of step-up syndrome.
Everytime he stepped up to a top-level fighter, he was handled. Story of that mans life.
Eubank was looking splendid in '94. I don't know what you're going on about.
