Alot of people say he hasnt fought anyone.
In your opinion who should he of fought between 1997 - 2007.
What other big names were out there in the SMW division?
Sven Ottke?
Eric Lucas?
Who else was out there?
(Apart from Jones!)
DLH - Calzaghe might have been competitve at times, but Calzaghe would wear him down and stop him IMO.
Oscar scrapped past Strum and was KO'd by Hopkins. Calzaghe hits harder, faster and throws way more than Hopkins. His pressure and power would hurt and make a mess of DLH eventually.
He isnt even a middleweight, i dont see him being able to compete with one of the best super middles ever.
True, but I dont know if we'll ever know how good or bad DLH would have been at 160. While I agree that he scraped by (by the skin of his teeth!) Sturm, it was his very first fight at 160 and we STILL dont know how good Sturm really is. It was very apparent that Oscar was soft in the middle, though by the time he faced B-Hop, he was well proportioned.
And to be honest, we dont know if Joe C. is one of the greatest 168 lbs of all time. His record would dictate so, but again...fans are waiting to be convinced. Lots of us Americans started believing after he annhilated Lacy, but his next performance was not very convincing. Either he beleived his hype and slacked off or he fought down to his opposition (which I dont think the 'Great' ones would do often and Calzaghe has been rumored to do so). Honestly, I would like to see him prove everyone wrong (or right, depending on your opinion of him) and establish himself as one of the greatest Super Middleweights of all time. But he doesnt seem to want to do so. And he is not that yopung, so there isnt much time left for him to prove those naysayers.
I guess I should explain my idea of Joe fighting DLH. This is obviously a reply to the original question of 'Who he should have fought', which means in the past. When I referred to DLH, I meant the Oscar who fought Sturm and B-Hop. If fought at 160 (and I'm sure Joe wouldnt have a problem dropping 8 pounds, especially back then) Oscar could come in at 157-158 which would make the fight plausible. And if Oscar was able to stay competitve with Bernard before being stopped, why wouldnt he be able to stay competitve with Calzaghe? IMO, Hopkins is a superior fighter than Joe. Joe has quicker hands and Oscar has a good chin. Oscar wouldnt be stopped and imo the fight would be close.
Yes, Oscar is a bit smaller than Joe, but Joe likes to fight guys smaller than he, so it would make sense.
Anyway, that was my thought process when I mentioned it, and I stand by it.

Joe has beaten good fighters. And people who were very good fighters say they think Joe is the genuine article.
But Joe would have done well to have names like, Hopkins (its not too late) RJJ (is too late) Tarver and Glencoffe. I mean Clinton Woods managed to get him twice. Is it asking too much that Joe could have him at least once in his career?
I think Joe could have beaten Tarver, but there seemed to be too much in the way of hanging around and then the old man sneaks in and beats Tarver, enhancing his own legace and Joe seems to be left stranded. And it does seem a waste and frustrating.
Altough Joe hasnt got a lot of those names on his record, i think we will have to say i think Joe could have beaten those guys. And that is how people see it. The fact he would be favoured agaisnt those names shows how good his potential was and how good people think he is.
Dont worry. I dont think that you are inherently stupid, like the other guy. I'd just like you to diversify and scale back your extreme opinions sometimes. It makes the point that you do have lose its credibility. Like him or not, Calzaghe does deserve some credit and as much as you love Froch, he still has things to prove. He isnt the Herculean unbeatable warrior you sometimes make him out to be. Not yet anyway.
Sorry havent got time to reply at moment. busy posting about sugar ray. lol. I see we are going to have some disagreements about Witter too. Never mind, it would be boring if we all had same veiws.

I'm not insulting YOU, I'm insulting your opinions. Opinions such as the fact that Ottke was a deadly opponent and was dreadfully underrated. Opinions such as the fact that a fighter two year into his professional career should be fighting guys likely to knock him out. I'm not picking on you, you just happen to post like a fool. You post seriously in joke threads, you dont listen to reason, your opinions are dire. You dont call me idiotic because I dont post like an idiot. I reason and I justify my views in sensible and open-minded ways, I never make ludicrous speculative statements and I will listen to what others say.
Dont call you an idiotic moron anywhere. You post in a lot of the same circles as me. I like to talk about Calzaghe because he's one of my favourite boxers. Everytime I'm in a thread talking about Calzaghe (which is invariably the subject of the thread...you're in the same thread talking about Froch). Your problem is that you have ridiculously extreme opinions. Froch is the best fighter in the world and would knock a grizzly bear out in 5 seconds. Calzaghe is the worst fighter in the world and Carl Froch would knock him out in 5 seconds. There's no sensible middle-ground with you and as such many of your one-sided blind posts are laughable.
No he would only take 4 seconds. lol. I used to like Calzaghe a lot but he does appear to swerve people and fight small guys, hes in a comfort zone and to be honest this Manfredo fight is funny because hes lost to a Light Welterweigt and has faught as a Welter. Its poor when they try and sell tickets at silly prices. There will be more there paying to see Amir.
I want to see some great british fights, and there are loads out there.
Also Joes dad Enzo talks so much shit it embarasing.
Anyway i also give you good karma sometimes, lets agree to disagree on this one. Good banter most of the time.
And why insult me? I've never once had to stoop as low as to call you idiotic. I guess that just shows how you can't argue well....

Dont worry about it mate, he follows me around the forum callin me an idiotic moron. He replys to most of my posts.

You come into threads where I've been active and post moronic statements. Its difficult not to chide you for your idiocy.

Im a Froch fan from Notts. Do you expect me not to Post when froch gets slagged off?? How many Threads have I started.
Im not as bad as Jangeorg is with Kessler.
You should post about them then. So far I've only ever seen you talk about Froch, even when the thread is about other people and Froch has barely been mentioned. I bet everyday you come on the forum and search for mentions of 'Froch' to go and respond to.
He follows every post I've made. Any criticism towards a euro fighter makes Miksterious think you hate the guy.

man theres alot of people he hasnt fought and wont fight, i like Joe his a good guy but his a story book champ following the story book formula, he fights the fights he knows he'll win or wont be tested... throws in a fight with a made-up giant (Lacy) and then goes back to his story book formula........ I mean this guy should and could be goin from catch weight to catch weight or stay right at 168... if he really wanted to challenge himself he would, there are guys like Miranda out there who woulda dropped the Green fight in a minute to fight Calzaghe, yet his goin to fight a guy whose lost 3 fights and just lately rivived himself from the undead but not living greats or potential greats, there guys like Kessler, Green (better fighter the PMJ), you got Jones Jr, shit Dawson and a whole hell of a lot better comp then Manfredo who i dont think will roll over shit may even give a great fight but, Manfredo doesnt do it for me name wise, like a Miranda, Kessler, Pavlik, Duddy i mean there are even guys like G.Johnson, Tarver,Adamek who would make better opponents then Jr Manfrdo and thats who he should fight, shit if we wann atalk about he could of fought, his been the MW champ for sometime and is it me or what but the catchweigth shit has been happening for along time just think you got a guy who has been champ for 10 plus years and a guy who made 20 title defenses and they happen to win there respective belts just 2 years apart if theres 1 person he should have fought thats B_hop

U think Calzaghe - DLH would of been competitve???
Personally i dont see how. DLH is just too small for Calzaghe. I can only invision DLH getting murdered.
But yes, Calzaghe needed to do somthing like Jones did, by moving up or down just for the odd big fight to happen.
I agree calzaghe is way oo big and it is pretty dumb to even bring that up lol
I know that he is SOMEWHAT sensible considering his obvious obsession. But posting on here only to discuss one fighter is quite unsettling.

You asked who should he have fought back then, and since the competition at Super Middleweight was weak, his best bet would have been to move up or down in weight. Biggest name in moving up would have been RJJ. Moving down would have been B-Hop, Winky at a catch weight. If Tito was active, even him. But there wasnt much anybody else. He could have probably faced DLH if it was at a catch weight as well, and I think it would have been an entertaining, competitive and close fight.

Joe should have fought in the States years ago. Eric Lucas would just have been another name for Joe, he's beaten better guys than Eric Lucas. Ottke? Calzaghe would more than likely have beaten him. He didn't want to risk getting robbed in Germany though. The WBA title was swapping around fairly regularly. No dominant champion there.
Same with the WBC. Woodhall? Calzaghe beat him. Reid? Calzaghe beat him, narrowly. Catley? Joe would have beaten him. Lucas? Calzaghe would have beaten him.
Obviously, Roy Jones v Calzaghe a few years back would have been good, but Jones went up to light heavy and Calzaghe was happy at super middle. Jones would have won imo.
Glenn Johnson went up to light heavy as well. Joe would probably have beaten him at super middle.
Beyer was another name out there. Again, Joe would probably have been favoured to beat him.
Lacy? He was the 'next big thing'. Calzaghe trounced him.
Kessler v Calzaghe is the best fight out there at 168 lbs. Whether it's made, who knows?
The fighters tha he should've faced have already been outlined. His fans would most likely defend him by saying that he's asked for these fights, right?
He asks for them, yet takes another, easier fight instead. Rinse and repeat, and you have Calzaghe's career, in summary.
