well my friend, you certainly thought this s**t out. I do agree and think Floyd will dominate Manny, although I'll give Pac some credit, as much as Shane, I don't think he'll be knocked out in 8. I think it'll be a later round. But in my heart, and in my brain, both of which are non-biased, I know there is no way Manny can ever beat Floyd. I think, somewhere, they know it, too.
Arreola too, though I give him more credit than Pavlik- I do believe he'd fight anybody, but he is protected by Goosen. Again, beating Brian Minto doesn't mean much. No disrespect to Brian Minto, either.
I don't know if he would have schooled Manny, I still think Manny's speed would have caused Oscar's problems, but I think we can agree when Manny fought Oscar, Oscar was beyond faded, he was a SHELL. When Ali fought Holmes, everyone can agree in retrospect that Ali was damaged from a misprescribed medication; why do Pac supporters overlook that Oscar damaged his health by trying to make weight? Now, that isn't Manny's fault, but his win over Oscar meant absolutely nothing, and certainly wasn't impressive.
Because if you beat a guy at the top of the game, you deserve the credit. If you beat up a guy who is sick and can barely walk, how many guys on the street are going to find you tough after that? Really.
You could tell by his face and his expression, in between rounds.. when Brother Nazeem told him to do this, to do that, that he knew Shane could do it... you could tell SHANE didn't believe it, in his heart. When someone doesn't believe it themselves, and are demoralized, the fight is basically over right there.
I think Shane knew he was beat, but was half-heartedly waiting/hoping for some miracle big shot, something like that. After all, Mosley would never quit on the stool.
I woke up today before running and thought about people like George Lopez, Dougie Fischer, etc., all predicting how sure they were Shane would be the first to beat Floyd. I'm wondering what they can say now to diminish Floyd's win, as we know they well! There isn't any way to beat Floyd.
to hell with that. i learned to respect Larry.. hes like 86, so we've got to give him some respect for being honest.
the person i'm more than concerned about is Jim Lampley- for the last 5 or 6 fights hes called, I've noticed some kind of decline.. he stumbles over words, misnames other fighters, the "bam" incident.. is Jim a cocaine fiend? I'm serious.
it's true, and too many singers of the national anthem do what i call 'stunt singing', where they go into vocal acrobatics at the end of the last word on every second verse. not out of soul, or feeling the song, just to showcase whatever technical vocal prowness they apparently have.
chris brown, who was flat and off-key to begin with, did it so many times, it was honestly like a parody or comedy sketch about this kind of singing. i remember thinking, i can't believe this is so ridiculous and bad. maybe that cat was just nervous.
but all singers, especially r&b singers, got something to prove with all that vocalizing on a word, these american idol singers, its just useless. Otis Redding had more soul then all of them and never did that shit once!
To be honest I didn't feel sorry for him. The fight reminded me so much of school days when someone would hype an individual up, chat shit in their ear about how they can beat X up. When the fight occurs they realise they're in over their head.
At the end of the day, he asked for the fight, begged for it even.
I have to agree, and this is the first time i've seen someone say it. You can have compassion for the losing man in a boxing match, but how can you feel sorry for this guy? These guys claim to be gladiators, they are professional fighters. Pity because he didn't win? He always knew that was an option. We can feel a little compassion because he didn't pull off the upset, but don't feel sorry for Shane. He knew what he was getting into, and, as FeFist says, he was practically begging for it. This is what happens when you go into a fight- especially against someone who is known to be one of the best (if not the best) at it !
Thanks Crimson, for clarifying. Maybe I'll start writing down so people can understand what I mean.
To Bogler: As for the "white guy" (is that specified because that makes him non-biased or something?? thats the stupidest thing you wrote today, if so) who said "but how can Mosley start doing nothing when he isnt getting hurt" , how does a casual, non-boxing experience 'white guy' have any influence on YOU, if you know so much about boxing? Are you in the ring? Floyd was hurting Mosley. If he was not, why was Brother Nazeem so serious about possibly throwing in the towel? Why are they icing Shane's face during the post-fight interviews?
This is again actual scientific proof that the majority of people here understand nothing about boxing, the science of it, the structure of it, have never even walked or driven past a boxing gym, much less stepped foot in one. Not noticing Shane being jittery and jumpy the entire fight, or knowing what 36 minutes of dancing around a ring does to the body, only showcases how inept and sucker-ish all the "experts" are.
if you think me saying 'you wouldnt give it any weight' means im saying you're a racist and not that you think it'll be biased, and even after i explained it you're still on this racist shit, then you're hopeless.
and wtf is this 'man' shit? am i arguing w/ a homo? :lol1:
now im really out you spook me.
I am whatever you say I am. You have no proof, meanwhile we have proof that you're both biased, and dishonest. But enough about that. The point isn't about you, or about me. It's about people with no knowledge saying something disrespectful and insulting by stating this was a fixed fight.
I don't remember that because I don't pay attention to fools and their conspiracy theories. Hows that? Noone is fixing any fights for Pac, I'm a Mayweather supporter and I never suggested that once, because, as I said, it's bullshit. If Arum "fixed" the fight at all, it's because he knows Clottey is a walking tree who doesn't work down the stretch, and isn't hungry. Or Roach bragging about how Oscar is "shot" and "can't pull the trigger" before Manny fights him. So, we knew what the outcomes would be. Does that count as a "fix"?
You can say that again.
Pacquiao dominates Cotto = He's on steroids
Mayweather dominates Mosley = Fight is fixed
lol at your stupid comprehension. i told him the fight wasnt' fixed, read my post again. and i mentioned the white guy coz i was w/ a bunch of pinoys w/ only 2 non-pinoys watching it. im sure you wouldnt give it any weight if i said a pinoy said this, comprende?QUOTE]
There goes more proof of your severe stupidity. Why wouldn't I give it any weight? Have I ever declared myself to be a racist, or make racial remarks? I have not, therefore the bias is on your shoulders by assuming that.
Pinoy, white, black, green, whatever... people know boxing, regardless of skin color, depending on what they've put into it. By your method of thinking, I must love Pavlik, Minto, and Cooney, right? After all, they're "white guys" like me. Guess what. White guys are idiots, and in boxing, white guys can be idiots.. just like black guys and pinoys can be. Don't ever call me a racist again or suggest that I am one. Comprende?
You can say that again.
Pacquiao dominates Cotto = He's on steroids
Mayweather dominates Mosley = Fight is fixed
Yeah, in both cases, it certainly couldn't be the more concrete fact of a glove hitting both respective fighters in the face, could it? Cotto hasn't even been the same since Margarito, which is understandable.
I've heard that before, but my comments are meant more for this specific fight. Because I honestly know that it's people's own dislike of Mayweather over-riding logic and reality to them. There is no way that was an arranged "fixed' fight- Floyd beat him masterfully.
The way I see it, if people with greater boxing education than US are saying it... are they all in the "fix", too?
I have always thought that Manny should take the tests without hesitation, because, if he is clean as he states, it only makes him look incredible, and that all the things Floyd Sr. said suddenly become an amazing compliment. I mean, if you're that good, that people say "he must be on something", and you are NOT, doesn't that make you super-human? I've never grasped why they don't get this.
Yeah, of course I want to see them fight, even though I know when Floyd beats Manny worse than he beat Shane, people will start whining about all sorts of excuses.. the fight was fixed, Manny was stiff from plane rides from the Philippines, he was too tired from his Karaoke concert the night before... no matter what, the nonsense will never end. Thank goodness there weren't forums and internet boards back when Leonard and Hearns fought.
I said it about Brian Kenny, and I'll say it about RA The Rugged Man, who isn't even on Kenny's level (!)- and thats saying something. RA The Rugged Man is a non-entity. Even if he was PRO-Floyd, he is a non-enity, you get what I'm saying?
This is a guy who has no boxing experience, no boxing knowledge, he basically has a (very limited) platform on which to share his OPINION. We give him too much credit just by talking about him. Hes not worth thinking about, or dedicating threads to. I don't care if hes been a boxing fan since he was a fetus, he has no cred in the boxing world, no rep in the boxing world, and he only got attention by anti-floyd people when he made anti-floyd statements. So, it doesn't matter if he loves Floyd or hates Floyd, he simply does not count. At least Larry Merchant has an educated opinion, even if you don't agree with it, and has put the time in to learn and discuss the sport of boxing. RA The Rugged Man is a poseur, and even his own crew knows it. Then again, thats just my opinion... right?
you must be really naive about what's going on here or pretending to be to makeup that convoluted stupid explanation. dont pretend. now move along.
What is going on here is that I made a post to share my thoughts about people making ridiculous comments about this fight being fixed.
You joined said thread and suggested I am a racist who would not accept any opposing thoughts from someone who is a pinoy.
I responded with the truth, which is that you are an idiot who does not know me, and that anyone can be right or wrong in boxing or anything else, regardless of skin color.. and i am right.
The End.
So you're saying May-Mosley is not fixed but Pac-Clottey is "possibly" a fix???LOL!! And you said people who say fix is moronic....so could you "possibly" be a moron?
:D
You're so desperate to argue, aren't you? No, I was being SARCASTIC. Basically, I went to some lengths to say none of Pac's fights are fixed, unless you count Arum knowing Clottey can't beat Pac as a "fix". Learn to digest sentences and absorb what words mean.
see how stupid you are? my point was the statement from a fellow pinoy was going to be biased since pac is pinoy, and not the racist shit you're on.
going home now latah
That's swell- stay at home and don't visit this thread again.
And no, you stated that I MYSELF wouldn't have listened to anything BECAUSE IT WAS FROM A PINOY. I'm sorry that there is a record kept automatically, and you are being held to your word as a man. Not our fault that the board is a computer and didn't recognize you were never a man to begin with.
Have a safe trip home.
lol really at your retarded reading comprehension, did i even say the word 'racist' or suggested it? read back. reason i said white guy, simply because a pinoy's comment, which was 8/10 guys watching that night, about this fight being fixed would be viewed as biased, because what, you guessed it, manny's pinoy too! gtfoh w/ that racist shit dumbass you're putting too much nonsense into it. and no you're not right, you just have stupid comprehension.
I'm sorry, but I seem to recall you telling me I wouldn't have listened to that statement if it came from a Pinoy. Which, believe it or not, is a suggestion that I must have racist tendencies, or am at the least, prejudiced against pinoys. Did you forget that, Bogler? Do you have a "stupid" memory?
i was at Ali's training camp this month and it was amazing; every boxing fan should go at least once. i posted a few pics under the 'training & nutrition' area of the forums.
I'd have to say he is in at least the top 2 or 3. Granted, his ability to take a punch and not go down- by the sheer force of his will- is undoubtedly one of the things that has led to his current health condition. But it's one thing to take so many shots; imagine taking them in the heat of Zaire or Manilla! Ali's willpower was uncanny; maybe the best and most unusual example of this- call it foolishness or pride or whatever- was in the 1980 Holmes fight. It's worth noting that Ali was going through heat stroke during that fight, he wasn't outright shot, he was suffering from a nearly fatal medication prescription, and yet, Holmes- who is certainly noone to mess with- couldn't knock Ali out. Holmes even said, "anyone else would have gone down with those punches." So yeah, Ali has one of the top 3 greatest chins in the division. I hear people today saying a prime Ali couldn't beat Klitchcko or even Tyson and I wonder if they've ever watched Ali in his prime, then compare the two.
how was Steward down on Manny whatsoever? because he said Manny wasn't *the* best he's ever seen, but the most unusual? noone can say anyone in the boxing media is down on Pac. far from it.
Where the f**k have you been ??
Clottey's post-fight comments are all over the net. He has admitted to having been overwhelmed by PAC's speed !! That's why he couldn't get his punches off, PAC took his b*lls away !!
Care to tell me why Clottey looked good against Cotto, Margarita, and Judah and not against PAC ??
Why are you becoming a tough guy? You can't disagree with me otherwise?
As it is, I never took away from the later rounds.. but you're telling me Pac took away his speed in the first three rounds?? No- Clottey is just a passive motherf**ker! If Floyd Sr is saying that, you know it must mean something, as down on Pac he has been.
To follow your train of thought, why didn't Clottey close the show in ANY of those fights you listed? (Judah was still stopped because of a cut/headbutt) It's because 'The Grand Master' just doesn't have the hunger enough. Did Pac "take away his speed" in Round One? Round Two?
Noone is saying Manny didn't perform great... I'm just saying, Clottey wasn't a threat more from his lack of pushing it more then because of Manny.
listen, if you know anything about boxing.. have studied it whatsoever... you are really wrong here. again, i can't stress enough how much i am NOT TRYING TO DISCREDIT MANNY... but Manny did NOT neutralize Clottey- thats the point- HE DIDNT NEED TO! CLOTTEY WAS NEUTRALIZING *HIMSELF*.
Clottey didn't stop throwing punches because of anything Manny did at all ! He just DIDN'T THROW PUNCHES.
So there was nothing extraordinary with what Manny did! He did a great job at doing things to a sleepwalker- but the way the announce team spoke of it, he was fighting Sugar Rays Robinson and Leonard at the same time!
No, I am not discrediting Manny.. he did what he had to do.
I am criticizing the announce team, and anyone else who felt using your skills against a walking tree was an impressive display of boxing skill.
It's like I said.. if you're hitting someone who doesn't punch you, how is it that astonishing? It would only be so incredible if Clottey was giving it back. And he wasn't. Listen to the announce team. They sound like they're in love, literally.
