I'm going to start a petition to Fire Larry Merchant. I liked the guy but he's way to obvious in his bias against Floyd Mayweather. Especially tonight. There were a bunch of times after Mayweather was dominating Mosley that Merchant was trying to take credit away from Mayweather. He said something like "oh well there was a reason he was the 3-1 favorite" Uhhh Hello Larry.. Floyd will ALWAYS be the favorite unless he jumps to heavyweight to fight Wladimir Klitscsko! Larry makes me laugh sometimes and I like his no nonsense interviews but his bias against Floyd is very annoying. Give the man the credit he's due.
Larry Merchant has been in the sport longer than most of us have been alive. I'd be damn upset if he got fired. He's become a symbol of boxing.
Yes is true.
na man Larry is the truth. you can't blame him for being grumpy about boxing today after the greatness he has witnessed in decades past...having witnessed the best fights at ringside for a billion years you'll have to forgive him for not gushing over another mayweather UD
and his discrediting of Mayweather's win tonight are making me change my mind. With all of Merchant's Floyd hate, he did give Floyd props at the end of the show. He said something like, "He went from an artful dodger to the artful warrior and finally proved himself against an elite welterweight."
He's past it, Ive said it many times even in great fights he finds a way to inject negativity. And Im not just talking Mayweather fights. He did with berto vs quintana, and pavlik vs sergio. All he does for the most part is bring up negative points.
His "artful dodger"comments really weighed on my nerves, PBF is in the ring beating the crap out his buddy Shane, and all he does is criticize Mayweather all night. He should retire after 2nite.
I would've been against this before today, but his comments on the lack of attence at the Berto fight, his bias during the Martinez-Pavlik fight, and his discrediting of Mayweather's win tonight are making me change my mind.
Merchant really needs to stop shitting on the sport at every corner. Kellerman's enthusiasm, knowledge, and consistent improvement cause me to think that he's ready for the full time spot. He just needs to be careful of falling into dickriding mode.
He's a Pacfan/Floyd hater, but he's still a legend, and should stay..
I agree. We should just bear with him. The man is old. Old people don't change and he's had a great career and should just be let on till he retires...
I thought it was funny, I hope they keep him. And yes I respect and actually was entertained by Floyd tonight but Merchants crazy ass makes me chuckle all the time.
yup and he kept callign Mayweather "The Dodger"
Yeah that was another thing that annoyed me. Like HELLO give the ****in guy some credit he's fighting a fighter that EVERYONE said he wouldnt fight. And Freddy Roach himself said he didnt want Pacman to fight because he's too strong and big for him.
I was watching the Sky sports version of the fight..What did Emanual Steward said about Floyd?
Typical Steward with his "oh the fight is going exactly how I knew it would go" bullshit. But he did admit that Mayweather suprised him by being the aggressor and making Mosley back up most of the fight and he also said he doesnt give Pacroid much of a chance against Mayweather.

to hell with that. i learned to respect Larry.. hes like 86, so we've got to give him some respect for being honest.
the person i'm more than concerned about is Jim Lampley- for the last 5 or 6 fights hes called, I've noticed some kind of decline.. he stumbles over words, misnames other fighters, the "bam" incident.. is Jim a cocaine fiend? I'm serious.
