question: if pacman's guarantee is lower than floyd's guarantee does that mean that this fight has to have more ppv for pacman to make same or more than floyd?
who gets that 2 milly?
According to the contracts filed with the NSAC, Pacquiao’s Guaranteed purse will be $7.5 million while Cotto’s Guaranteed purse would be $4 million.
Great to see these guys finally getting paid...:cool2:
i thought i read somewhere that arum said pacman was getting paid ten milly.
i will try to find it
That's why promoters are so bitter when someone elaves them. They might have spent millinos on promoting and effort and then if that fighter becomes too big, they leave.
but that is why they have buyout clauses in the contract. If you want to leave, it would cost you 500 thou or a milly.
“I take great pride in this fight,” Arum told Rick Folstad of TheSweetScience.com. “We have two guys who are going to make their biggest payday on November 14. Pacquiao will make over $20 million and Cotto will make over $10 million. And I helped create that.”

Now STU Horus!!!
but the nevada commission said that is not true. i guess it is a matter of who you believe. do you believe arum or do you believe the nevada commission.
the nevada commission has the contract. why would they lie?
He was guaranteed 8 million on paper, paid IRS 6 million.
i think that mayweather had ten milly guarantee and marquez had 3.2 milly guarantee
to whoever said that shane is getting 3 million for his fight: i don't think that is possible because shane is more famous than marquez
complete opposite for me.. I have never felt this much excitement leading up to a fight.. Simply because i'm a fan of both fighters and they both have crowd pleasing styles..
i saw that this will be the biggest fight ever in philippines. they are setting up closed circuit so people can watch.
Actually, Floyd’s dickriders are using the purse topic to divert the real issue of Gayweather scheme to duck real welterweights. Boxing fans doesn't really discuss the details of boxer’s purse. It's fukkin' irrelevant...
but they write about it in articles all the time. only fans read the articles. right?
So Floyd got 70 Million out of a fight that made around 50 million today in PPV buys? Add maybe another 6-8 million for gate. then the fight generated about 57 million and change.
So then they give floyd 70 million.:439:
JMM gets 4 million
HBO 24/7 costs an average of 3 million to produce
employees, NSAC, advertisers etc will add millions more.
The promotion itself probably cost about 15-20+ million before paying the fighters, but of course everyone involved will pay Floyd more than the total generated gross income of the fight, while they lose their shirts and go bankrupt.
I love your math. Everyone loses money for Floyd!LOL
is that how much 24/7 costs?
how much does hbo get for a fight?
I commented on that also. Total gross revenue for that fight would be around 60 milion. PPV carriers, athetic commissions, promotors, advertisers, undercard fighters, opponents etc. I could go on and on you know would eat at least 2/3rds of that revenue. Then there are other expenses.
They are not going to let Floyd walk away with all the profits. I guarantee Floyd made no more than 15 million.
if floyd vs marquez sells a milly. and pacman vs miguel sells a milly. how can pacman make 20 and floyd make less than fifteen?
Pac never changed. Now has millions, still living like hes a poor boy in the slums.
its humbling.
do you wonder why he wants so many people around him? I worry because whenever someone has a huge entourage, you are responsible for what the entourage does.
Anybody have a link to verify that this is actually what was said by the NSAC? I can't find one.
why would i lie? that is what i read.
$1 milly divided by 10% = $10 milly
"Kizer said that had the bout agreements not been changed to 147, Mayweather would have faced a fine from the commission in addition to whatever penalty he had agreed to pay Marquez. For being two pounds overweight, Kizer said the penalty would have been 10 percent of his purse, or $1 million. Had he been three pounds over (147 pounds), the figure would have jumped to a 20 percent fine"

Puzzling really .
what puzzles me is why he signed the contract in the first place. why doesn't he do like mayweather and mosley and just say "i don't want to fight you". kp is the middleweight champion and he could just keep fighting the ranked and manadory guys.
excellent thnread.
but juan diaz would remain a lightweight. right? he only moved up for the malignaggi cathweights. and paul williams prefers to fight at welterweight. he makes it comfortably. he only moved up because he wanted a big fight and mosley said no.
As long as its a good fight, I don't mind. I can't watch it live I have got too much on, I am just gonna try to download the next day without knowing the result.
it doesn't matter what the ppv is. the only reason oscar was so popular is because girls liked him. real boxing fans want to see this fight.
What was Mayweather's guaranteed purse vs. Marquez, not according to news reports or whatever, but according to the contract filed with the NSAC?
Serious question.
according to nevada commission floyd's guarantee was ten milly and marquez guarantee was 3.2 milly.
13.2 milly vs 11.5 milly. the total guanrantee was higher for the sept 19 fight.
That's good to hear. So much for this article alleging Cotto still hasn't gotten his weight down.
http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=523240&publicationSubCategoryId=69
Pacquiao fans are now making conspiracy theories of their suspecting the delay was to give Cotto more time to lose weight. Huh?
I think both fighters will make weight and then head over to the MGM buffet.
the late weigh-in works against cotto. there is more time before a weigh-in than after. a late weigh-in always hurts the bigger fighter.
Is really not significant? Then how come nobody else has done. Or even has tried it? Pac is the only one. And, nobody else in the horizon is close to doing it.
in part, because you have to start off young and do it while your body grows. once your body matures like darchinyan or donaire, it is hard to move up.
i would bet that all of the lightweights and welterweights were 106-112 at the age manny was there.
nobody in this era has ever done it. that's gotta count for something.
i don't place as much value on moving up as most people. unless you are fighting one of the best at the new weight division.
good accomplishment for roy, but ruiz isn't that good. oscar showed what happens when you move up and fight quality. remember oscar at 160? 0-2, really.
i'm sure floyd can beat the worst 160 beltholder. but i don't want to give him credit for that.
was beating lalonde a great accomplishment for leonard?
the problem with these catchweights is that even if the guy makes it, it creates another distraction. nobody ever focuses this much on miguel's weight for his 147 fights.
Why does Roach do this? I remember reading before Manny fought Oscar that he said Oscar couldn't pull the trigger anymore. Then after the fight he complained that other people were saying the same thing, only later. It's like, YOU SAID IT FIRST! Now he says that Cotto is shot? If Manny wins his victory will hold less weight in my eyes now.
yes. if oscar, hatton and cotto are shot, then why is manny so great? why are you making fights with over the hill opponents? roach should keep quiet for one more day.
yup floyd was 16 and the national golden gloves champion at 106
tbh maybe the us national championships is as competitive as a fringe belt overseas. i don't know.
oscar won the bantamweight national amateurs in 1989. he was 16
Best Cotto has ever looked at a weigh in I've seen.
a bit leaner than i'd like him to look. did you see how narrow he looked across his lower back when he turned around? i never saw him look like that before. or never noticed.
I can see it surpassing 1 million buys, for sure.
it is hard to tell. the weigh-in was insane. i heard that the hotel was packed with people trying to get into the weigh-in.
the hatton weigh-ins are crazy too. his fight did a milly, right?
this is the best fight of the year. no matter how much the buys.
Gotta love Roach for taking every single credit away from his fighter Pacquiao.
there is some truth to what roach says. oscar couldn't pull the trigger. hatton was not as good as his record. cotto has not looked great after margarito. but roach goes overboard. it is disrespectful to call cotto shot
