I hate to sound negative, but since this fight was first mentioned as a possibility, it hasn't moved me. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge boxing fan and I will order the fight, but this whole promotion is just blah to me. That could have something to do with the fact that I'm far from a fan of Pacquiao or Cotto. Still, I was looking much more forward to Pacquiao vs. Hatton and Cotto vs. Clottey in comparison to this match-up. For the rest of the year, I'm also more excited for Ward vs. Kessler, Williams vs. Martinez, and Bradley vs. Peterson than this so called "mega fight".
This match doesn't prove very much in my opinion. Cotto isn't the same after Margarito pounded on him, and his win over Clottey had more to with Clottey's lack of activity than anything else. Then, Manny challenges the already broken fighter at a 145 pound catchweight, when Cotto's weight struggles have already been well documented. This does nothing to determine who the best welterweight in the world is.
I'm pulling for Cotto, but not passionately. In reality I don't know who will win, and I don't really care. I'm glad this fight has been getting as much attention as it has though, because it's great for the sport. I just wish that the awful 24/7, the daily training camp and sparring diaries, the Roach vs. Santiago storyline, the (wretched) undercard or something else could have helped with my anticipation.
From the look of the boards, I doubt anyone else lacks excitement for this event. But if you do, please speak on it...

if pac/cotto don't get you excited, you need to stop watching boxing
Alfonso Gomez vs. Jesus Soto-Karrass
Daniel Santos vs. Yuri Foreman
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Troy Rowland
Thank goodness us Brits aren't paying for that shit. Chavez Jr needs to get smoked by Angulo or someone - and soon.
I'm very excited about this fight.. i mean, both fighters throw punches.. this will be a great fight. its one of those fights were i as a knowlegable boxing fan, have NO idea what will unfold.. I am leaning towards a pacman victory.. just not sure how..
this isnt a bullshit mayweather fight. its a legit fight..
really excited about this fight. like Manny's last 3 fights i'm very excited to see how he deals with Cotto.
What's the undercard for Saturday?
Alfonso Gomez vs. Jesus Soto-Karrass
Daniel Santos vs. Yuri Foreman
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Troy Rowland
Cotto weight drained or not, the guy is a tough fighter and has it in him to win.
Remember though that Cotto was 146 VS cLOTTEY AND Clottey is a good fighter. Hard style to break down
Come on guys! only the Mayweathers and sorry loser DLH are not excited about this fight and you need to understand them.
As for the poster. hhhmmm I think he is Gayweather himself posting at BoxingScene....
I am always excited when 2 top fighters are fighting each and is a 50/50 fight.
I am more exciteda about this fight then Pac-Hatton. Since I didn't think Hatton had much of a chance.
you're one of the few. as for me, this fight can't come any slower. this has been the longest week of the year.
complete opposite for me.. I have never felt this much excitement leading up to a fight.. Simply because i'm a fan of both fighters and they both have crowd pleasing styles..
pac IS bruce lee. damn i want those lats!
im not really to in to it to be honest. i had a party at my house for pacquaio-hatton and ordered it because i got drawn into the hype. this one i might catch at either my trainers house or a pizza place. same factors as you kind of, catchweight and miguel has been through wars. also, both fighters have retirement very close to mind as they have bigger business to atend to and one of them is 29yo while the other is 30yo, they might not have the same hunger they used to.

I agree 100%. Styles make fights and on paper this should be a classic.
We will find out Saturday :boxing:

i saw that this will be the biggest fight ever in philippines. they are setting up closed circuit so people can watch.

I'm looking forward to it but it's not got me really hyped to be honest.
Mainly because I think Pac's got this one in the bag pretty much and so I can't imagine it being too competitive.
Just my opinion by the way Cotto fans.
