A domestic fight with Brook at Wembley Stadium would have been the most lucrative option for Khan outside of Mayweather (maybe including Mayweather) so I gotta believe he's ducking the kid.
No I think basically what he is saying is this:
" Did Pacquiao fight Margarito at 154...NOPE...he fought him at a catch weight of 150 because it benefitted Pacquiao more since he was the main attraction"
"Did Pacquiao fight ODLH at 154...NOPE..he fought him at a catch weight of 145 since it benefitted Pacquiao more"
"Did Pacquiao fight JMM 3&4 and Tim Bradley at their comfortable weights...NOPE...he made them both come to 147 no catch weight of like 142, why? Because it benefitted Pacquiao"
"Will he go down to Rios weight to fight him, or will he give a catch weight of like 144....NOPE and NOPE...he will make Rios come to 147, why? Because it benefits Pacquiao"
"So why is Floyd, the main attraction in all boxing, getting criticized if he wants to fight at 147 or 150 vs Canelo, he earned the right to demand the weight in any of his fights until he's dethroned"
This post is a work of art.
Best Fights for GGG
!. Saul Alvarez (at 160)
2. Sergio Martinez
3. James Kirkland (at 160)
4. Andre Ward (at 168)
Probably won't see any of these in the next 18 months.
I hate it for Donaire. Nobody wants to see him fight anyone but Rigondeaux. He's got to take the next year and get ready for a Rigo rematch. I don't advise it now. He's gotta fight this guy again and give a hearty effort (risk the KO if need be). He doesn't neccessarily have to win, but he's got to get that respect back or he's done.
Cliff:
This is a GREAT analogy, especially for someone like me that saw that match live and really loved pro wrestling growing up. Kudos to you for this one.
You hit it on the head. I grew up in the WWF era. I have always thought of this as the greatest wrestling match of time. I watched it live on pay per view. I went back and watched it on youtube about a year ago.
Canelo know his body better any of us. His team know his body better than any of us. So that fact he accepted the fight at 152 says he's comfortable and thinks he can win.
First, Donaire says he didn't study any film on Rigondeaux (a blatant jab at Garcia preparing him) and now you got Garcia blaming the loss on Donaire not coming to Oxnard. These two won't be together for another fight. Watch!
Donaire-Rigondeaux plays out the same way ten times out of ten. Rigo could have beat him a lot worse this time. Only difference is the Rigondeaux would be more likely to stop him after seeing Donaire again. Donaire is never gonna be faster than Rigo, not at any weight, and he simply couldn't hit the guy. Sure he got the knock down on a crafty shove and punch move coming out of a tie up, but he couldn't connect punches with any consistency. RIGO'S POWER left Donaire scared to fight like a man who needed a KO to win. Rigo took Donaire's heart. Donaire has had a chance to watch the broadcast and see and hear how stupid he looked saying all that stuff. (He's still making excuses in this interview by the way.) Now he's trying to respond like a champion but he has no true desire to fight Rigondeaux. Donaire lost to a superior fighter. There's no shame in that.
I was very impressed with Danny Garcia in the Judah fight. True Zab had a legitimate chance to win late in that fight, but you gotta understand that Zab Judah has had some weak performances, but when he comes to fight watch out. Danny tired late but I think that was him gaining experience not neccesarily a pattern or flaw. Garcia can box. I hadn't see as much of the other guy. I did watch the Peterson fight but couldn't really learn anything about him from that. (Besides his obvious power). You see what a fighter has when he is tested. Garcia has been tested recently. I like him to outlast this dude.
You don't understand how this thing works, but I'll teach you. Floyd gets money from all demographics, but especially whites and latinos. They pay with the hopes of seeing him lose and a few actually like the guy. African Americans support Floyd, but not so much the everyday African American fighter. African Americans are used to seeing athletic greatness so they don't get over excited just to see an athlete the same ethnicity as them like whites and other demos tend to do. So, to say he's serving the weakest demo is ignorance. He is serving your punk ass and a whole bunch of people like you waiving Mexican flags because if his people are not buying the fight then it must be yours.
Jr has growing to do but it's hard to become a man with your father standing over you every step of the way. His Dad has good advice but he may be the wrong messenger.
Classless? This is boxing!!! It's been going down like this forever. Props to Paulie for standing his ground, but don't single out Broner. That's that shyt that makes me shake my head. This was great promotion for the fight and both fighters.
Canelo had a "I'll fight anybody" attitude before Mayweather. Now he understands why his handlers were holding back from certain fights. Now he's like "you guys know best"
From a lucky punch. Pac was dominating the fight until then. I shouldn't dignify this, but...Marquez landed that same lucky punch two rounds before he KO'd Pac. If you go back and watch Marquez spends a lot of time trying to set that shot up. Watxh how he fakes the forward lunge (or half-steps the forward lunge). He knew had a to be close enough to be hit but far away enough to slip Pac's punch and still close enough to land the counter flush after steping backwards and sideways in slipping Pac's punch. Yes he was very lucky that Pac fought him again.
