Sources with knowledge of the situation have advised BoxingScene.com that super middleweight king Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs) has already begun the legal process to break away from longtime promoter Dan Goossen.

Goossen has promoted Ward since the boxer turned pro after winning a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics. Around May of 2011, Ward signed a new promotional agreement with Goossen - but the exact details of when the contract expires has not been confirmed.

During the last few weeks, there have been heavy rumors in the industry that Ward, and members of his team, were at odds with Goossen. And there is also a lot of chatter in the industry regarding Ward making a potential move to Top Rank - if he is successful in breaking his agreement with Goossen.

The exact background to the Ward/Goossen dispute is unknown at the moment.
