I'm in a bit of a pickle when it comes to DeGale, he's got the potential to be a World Class operator, which we need more of. But i wouldn't mind seeing him get absolutely creamed. LOL Ha ha I'm in exactly the same position. Not sure who to root for in this one.

That's quite interesting - is the majority of your coverage in Mexico and other countries on free to view TV channels or cable? In the UK although the OP is right there are some good live shows going on, boxing is really being hurt IMO by the lack of terestrial TV coverage. One channel (ITV) has some bills on again in the last year or so but for many years we had nothing as Sky took it all away from a lot of us. I guess it does mean people might make more of an effort to actually go and watch the fights live, we do seem to sell more tickets here in Britain for our shows than in for example the USA. Perhaps that's also one good side of having less fighters at a world level, more domestic competiton and better matched fights. As for the fighters themselves, I wonder if we sometimes get too caught up in the domestic scene and don't move on to world level soon enough. For example the UK heavyweight scene in the last 5 years or so has been one massive merry-go-round with the same guys fighting each other without moving to a higher level. That might be down to a lack of real talent or ambition but maybe it's better to bypass the domestics and go straight to world level like the Americans perhaps? Or conversely maybe US fighters just don't have to wait so long for international fighters to match against - after all a lot more boxers from around the world go to the states to fight, you don't often see Americans go outside the states themselves early in their careers (or ever to be honest).

No question it should have not gone any further than it did though, Taylor was getting ripped a new one.

Taylor was completely outclassing Froch until he ran out of gas. Are you saying he ran out of gas in the 4th or 5th round? That's pretty poor stamina right there. The fight in my eyes was, in the end, a close one. If Taylor had survived til the final bell in the last round I had JT up by 7 to 5, each fighter with a KD. It took Froch a while to find his feet in the fight and Taylor started quick as ever, but to say the fight swung purely on Taylor's inability to go 12 rounds would detract from Froch's performance (and own stamina and condition). Perhaps if Taylor would learn to pace himself better in fights, the first rounds would have been split, who knows. In the end, the guy with more heart and desire won, I don't think class comes into it because these guys were no different in that department.

To be fair Khan looked utterly superb. Yeah he really did, blindingly quick all fight. In and out and MAB had no chance to get near his chin. His guard was high, and up very quickly after throwing his own shots. Shame about the cut really, but in my eyes it didn't detract from what was a really good performance by Khan. It looks like Roach has done wonders with him so far. Warren just said that he wants a title for him before the end of this year, so will be interesting to see who they match him with next. BTW I'm in no way a Khan fanboy, I laughed when Prescott destroyed him but it's good to be wrong sometimes.

Stopped for a cut after two easy rounds... to be honest not much to say after that. Will need to see him against tougher opposition again (like his second fight) to make any judgements.

I gotta be honest. Contrary to all the posts here about Vitali or Wlad or Haye, nobody really cares about this fight. I mean, it would be nice if it happened, but I ain't losin' any sleep over it. Or any other Klitschko fight for that matter. What you mean to say is, you don't really care about this fight. Most boxing fans seemingly would love to see a Haye-Klitschko fight and it really doesn't matter which brother it comes against.

I was cheering Katsidis on tonight, love watching his style- sure makes for exciting fights, even if you dislike him because he has barely any defense. A lot of people are overlooking the fact that for most of his career Witter has been slagging Hatton off without good reason. There's a good deal of PR & BS banded around by fighters and promoters to get and then sell fights, but Witter has always taken it that bit too far. He made it too personal and the simple truth is Hatton has never needed Witter in his whole career, whereas Witter seemingly became completely obsessed with Hatton. Why should Hatton give a big payday to someone who has spent the last decade insulting him to the point where it's just embarrassing to see any more?

I have a little respect for Calzaghe, he should fight Dawson , if he can beat Dawson THEN and only then will he earn my respect and many other fans, he beat an old Jones, barely beat and old Hopkins, and unimpressive Kessler, and a Lacy that even Tayler beat SO. Beat a young warrior and u got it.:boxing: This seems a very blinkered and all too common bias against Calzaghe. If he fights Dawson and wins, it will be little different to fighting Lacy and winning. Pre-fight Lacy was a clear favourite to KO Calzaghe and we saw what happened there. Post fight haters say Lacy was exposed, and it was not an impressive win as Lacy was an over-hyped fraud, etc etc. While there's truth in that Lacy was indeed hyped to the tilt, that is just the nature of boxing; hype sells fights, like it or not. Calzaghe still took on the young lion who, prior to the fight, looked highly impressive and very dangerous. And what credit afterwards? Very little. He then takes on a young fighter Mikkel Kessler, who is in my eyes the clear future of the SMW div and to call Kessler unimpressive, I think shows a very clear lack of understanding of boxing; either that or just a very blatent anti Clazaghe bias. 'Barely beating an old Hopkins', (and I think he did get deserve to win the fight as he controlled the pace through the fight and made it on his terms, making Hopkins struggle down in the championship rounds, something no-one has ever done before), has been put into perspective by Hopkins last performance against Kelly Pavlik. Hopkins a shot old man? Well can't be that shot, eh. As for taking the RJJ fight, I disagree with it. It was self gratification. I don't think he should have made this fight, at the time I'd rather have seen him fight Pavlik instead, bearing in mind this was before the Hopkins-Pavlik fight. But the same haters were calling Calzaghe a coward then for not doing so. You notice now the latest next big thing has been proved to not be in the class of Hopkins (and surely therefore Calzaghe?), there's not a whisper from these people now mentioning Pavlik. So let's just move on to the next guy down the road... there will always, ALWAYS be the next guy. So Calzaghe fights and beats Dawson. There will always be another guy who he ducks after that, despite being 37. If he hadn't have fought Lacy, then Kessler. If not Kessler, then Pavlik, then Dawson, then the next guy. Admit it, 37 is a retirement age. Jones should have already done so. As much as I can't stand Bernard Hopkins as a man, he is truly special to have preserved his condition and adapted his skills to the age he has. 46 fights in Calzaghe's career is a lot of fights. Just ask OdlH - it doesn't last forever no matter how much you want it to. Sooner or later, you'll need it and it just won't be there anymore. Stop letting bias get the better of you and just admit it, Calzaghe has really nothing left to prove. Yes I am clearly a Calzaghe fan, yet not one who will defend his every move and I always try to be subjective. Whether it was his choice or Warren's (someone I find it very hard to defend at any time), I will criticise him for not getting the fights sooner - that was really inexcusable. If it was Warren holding him back, he should have threatened to leave him long before he actually did. It does seem quite amusing though, that the majority of the stick that Calzaghe has gotten is after he finally did get it together and fight the big fights. Without wishing to turn this into yet another Euro vs US squabble, I sometimes wonder what reaction he would have if he was american.

If you knew anything about boxing; you would know he was holding because he can't fight on the inside. If you didn't see Froch was hurt then there is no need to continue this conversation. Thanks for playing. And what was the reason that he was left with the only option of fighting on the inside or holding? Because he had be caught with a shot and was hurt and therefore could not move away to range with his usual deft footwork. That was Frochs main hope in this fight; to close the range on Dirrell by catching him, as it turned out by a pretty wild hook. Only then could he get on the inside or corner Dirrell to take away his main advantage which was obviously his speed in both hands and his feet. Now Dirrell chose to hold as he was hurt, fair enough and no-one would criticise him for that, it's 100% part of the game, but I'm not really sure why you would claim he wasn't hurt here.

Morales vs. Hamed at some catchweight would be interesting. :boxing: Both are hinting at comeback fights. The difference being that Hamed has been hinting at a comeback fight almost every year this decade and the only thing that he's looked hungry for is another portion of chips.

Witter does look in incredible shape. It's hard to tell with him though, even though he looks physically fit and well trained, he just seems to have nights where he loses the plot and doesn't really seem interested, as if his head is somewhere else. Haven't seen too much of Alexander, let's hope we get 2 great fights. I have Nate to come through on Bradley in a close one.

Good performance from Hatton tonight. Outboxed and outmuscled Malignaggi all night long from range and on the inside. From round 2 onwards all Malignaggi wanted to do was smell Ricky's armpits and survive the night. Hatton looked very up for it while Malignaggi just looked clueless how to handle him with no plan B at all. Hatton didn't respect his jab one bit as it was powderpuff. The stoppage seemed a little odd but you can understand it from McGirt's perspective; his man was doing nothing but holding and holding. Winner of DLH Vs Pacman next?

Good performance from Amir Khan tonight. Took the shots dished out to him well and moved very well generally. Frustrated Kotelnik who couldn't really get to him all night. All the Khan hate here from some people is rather sad. The guy has a good win against a decent champion and still gets hate. The 120-108 verdict was a bit odd but on my card Khan only lost two or three rounds at most. As for him fighting cherry picked opponents, Khan is only 22 years old and already has a world strap. He's faced 3 former or current world champions already in 22 fights and some decent other fighters in 4 years as a pro. I'm not sure what more is expected of the guy at this stage of his career TBH. I'm not a Khan nut-hugger, in fact I had to laugh when Prescott KTFO of him but credit where it's due he's gone away and worked hard and for the moment at least overcome his biggest handicap, his chin. We'll see in time what happens when he fights bigger punchers again but for the moment, get off Khan's back and accept he had a good win against a good fighter tonight. It seems like a lot of people need to grow up a bit.

Bizarre fight all round. Ritson's corner seemed to be watching a different fight altogether and gave him no urgency at all even though he landed next to nothing all night. Vasquez won nearly every round. Matthew Macklin on Sky in the UK gave it 118-110 to him and said he was flabergasted at the decision. I like Ritson and as a UK fan wanted him to put up a good performance but I was embarrassed at the reading of the cards. This isn't good enough and UK boxing (and Vasquez) deserves better.

It was a very gutsy performance from both men tonight. I didn't think Skelton would ever be knocked out in his career but he looked knackered after about 6. He did well to come back into it a bit in the 9th and 10th when he started to box, Rogan was clearly flagging as well. But credit to Rogan, despite not having great technique or skills, he sure is tough and deserved the win.

Just realised Terry O'Connor also gave Thomas Patrick Ward the decision by 6 rounds to 2 in an earlier fight on the card, also an inexplicable decision. He surely needs to retire or be retired. This can't carry on.
