Real men don't watch any boxing matches below welterweight. We won't watch midgets fight, because they're too small to count as real athletes.
And there's no more "skillz" there than in the higher weights. What you little boys mistake for skill is just off-balance arm punching.
What Pacquiao and Marquez do is flat-out gay, and they're the good ones. Bigger men need to be cautious because their opponents can knock them out with one punch. Slapping midgets LOOK more active because the punches don't do any damage. Those same strategies would get a cruiserweight or heavyweight killed every time. Why? Because they're facing genetically normal, grown men.
A man who weighs less than 135 pounds is not genetically normal, let alone potentially athletic.
You jealous the small fighters have something you dont mate? :boxing:
your a joke,
calzaghe only became famous and was given the recogntion he deserves after he beat up lacy, it was then wen people started to take notice, by that time he was alredy past his prime,
dont tell me for 1 muitne youve heard of him before him because you hadnt! even i didnt know of him untill then! and im british!
You sure about that mate? you see im british too and probably not as knowledgeable about the sport as %90 of these mebers..but umm I've heard of the guy, the americans on the scene have heard of the guy. Shit many Europeans have too. Anybody who watches boxing knows the man. I think you need to lock yourself indoors and think about your nationality...hopefully you'll realise you're not british
The guy in my sig..
Kevin Kelley fought everyone in the lower divisions, and has a HOF record..
Only lost to guys like Eric Morales, Barerra, Hamed..
He recently lost to Bobby Pacquiao but fuck, Kelley is a grandpa now..
-------------------------
Derick Smoke Gainer
Very good fighter with skills.. Just never became big. He fought Kelley as well..
Too true HOF record and still fighting..and winning :boxing:
Which means basically you will never have a combination scored.
True...how gutted would you be scoring a blinding combo nd only gettin a point....:puppy_dog
I TOTALLY AGREE. This is what im trying to Say, he has the skill, but lacks smarts, if he focused for the fight and worked hard, i know he could beat Joe, Joe is not unbeatable, and Mundine is no Bum
No i dont think he's a bum myself mate, but others do (thats just boxing) and if he stepped up, put his balls on the line went full throttle he'd stand a chance he could pull off something great but IMO just not a win.
his fight against sven...i can understand that loss, props for him steppin up to it, hes faced some good opposition and won but the big names like kessler and sven hes lost to...i think it'd be much the same outcome if he faced joe mate
I Agree, He has faced good fighters and lost, But his also beat a few, Like green, and he had an impressive KO against Solomon, But i also agree that he lacks heart, And we also must note that he is a much better fighter now then he was when he fought Sven and Kessler. He can beat Joe, If he just stepped it up and fought Joe with all he had, he has the skill but he just lacks some heart and brains lol
fair enough mate, you can make you're point and i can see where you're coming from, but...iin boxing, brains (smarts) is almost everything. What can you do with immense skill if you haven't got the smarts to use it?
I don't know if it has been done before, but I have to see this.
Personally I say Pavlik by tko/ko... Pavlik is too tough and too strong.
They both are very active fighters. They both like to fight toe 2 toe. But really... Joe's exposed chin action will get him KTFO period.
Ok Joe leaves himself exposed we get the idea...but he's been doing this for 45 fights and i havent seen him get knocked....beat yet. Im not anti-pavlik though mate. I do think pavlik is one hell of a fighter who has improved immensely over recent fights with such a jab! But i can't see joe's work rate slowing, the man is gettin on but however his fitness and stamina is tremedous, he didnt die out in the hopkins fight at least, it didn't seem that way to me. Great match, great boxers Calzaghe by close UD
The problem I have with Floyd fans is some of them claim he is greater than SRR, Ali, etc. That is nuthuggery taken to a whole new level.
Agreed. Though in about 15 years when floyd is long out of the sport i reckon a lot more people are gonna say that he is right beside them with a legendary status and amongst the best ever boxers.......we'll see if that's true
Apart from Witter and Haye I don think there are any boxers to talk about from the UK.All the talk about UK boxers is just national pride.
Honestly I dont understand how many UK fans gave Ricky Hatton a chance against Mayweather to the extent of saying Ricky was a pound for pound best fighter.Same thing with Joe's padded record,
Padded?? your not serious?? yes hopkins was a one off win mate....not! kessler was past his peak...oh wait no he wasn't. i think your just being ignorant there. I will admit he has only fought 3 times away from home and had a lot of fighters who weren't really a challenge for his but the major fights he has pulled off and beat whoever has stepped up to the plate, he's moved up a weight and conquered. Padded? i think not...maybe just soft in some parts...that i will agree with. As for being biased i don't know how to put my own opinions. I know that a lot of american judges base a fight on aggression and not how solid defense is or good footwork with solid phasing shots. But us brits may be tempted to give the home man a decision, who knows? I'd say we're both biased at times.
f**k sake whatever happened to the times when you fought to see who was better and for the glory and the belt...now its money! "naaaw im not happy with millions of dollars, sorry" wtf?? im not old by the way just stating a point :D
FECKIN HELL!! surprised me that! glad to see someone doing it to be honest i know there busy guys buts good to see him taking an interest. thanks for the info rick
My point is Joe is just a boxer,an ordinary boxer nothing more.
The way his fans want to elevate him to legendary status is what I disagree with.It seems to me like some British guys are so short of success that they will try to amplify mediocrity to superstardom.
Yes I agree with what you are saying about Calzaghe beating Champions but still his record is misleading,it should read 3-0 and not 45-0
Anywhere the thread starter had implied that the Americans are worse,he needs to examine the Brits closely
ahh but you see im not elevating him to legendary status though im sure in years to come that's what he'll get im saying he has fought good/decent boxers and some great ones also the guy is a very good boxer to me however yet again my opinion. But saying he needs to examine the brits? have to laugh at you there. We're just as bad as each other im technically a brit but i don't see the whole point in whose more biased just extreme beliefs and point of view from both sides is what i believe. Both you and us like to believe we have the best fighters at times whcih isn't allways the case but at the same time don't take away from a fighter what he has achieve as me and you couldn't do it
Are you posting messages from a mobile phone with a max character limit, or do you have a PC and a keyboard there?
:lol1: :lol1: maybe he's "gangsta" of the keyboard mate :D
It's also worth mentioning that those 202 fights of Ray's were fought between lightweight and light heavy.
i needed to take the time to set your ass straight about your sig.
you say floyd has a better chin and a better defense then ray, that ray got drop 10 ten times in his career, but you fail to see i few things.
sugar ray robinson fought 200 career fights.floyd has fought 39 times.that's not even a quarter of the fights ray fought.ray robinson is the classic ideal of what a boxer puncher is,hence he is more likely to get hit cause he actually threw more than 20 punches a round.floyd is a defensive specialist.so his chances of getting knockdown are minimized.in his prime ray was 128 and 1.get your shit straight.floyd is great no doubt he's just not as good as ray.nobody is.
Yea i guess the guy is pretty ignorant..but provides a bit of spice and argumentative spirit
So you think fighting 3 people in 11 years makes someone a legend.
If someone has had 45 fights and out of that 45 fights there are only 3 competitors, cant you see the other 42 were called to build this guys record?
never called him a lagend you must be reading the wrong post. Yea and i admitted his record is pretty damn soft but ive seen worse and i wouldn't call them sompetitiors if they're already champions. And how did he become champ in the first place? not by beating and hand-me-down fighter but by fighting and beating eubank...but i have admitted from then on he hasn't fought anyone extraordinary but i still would say, lacy, bika, kessler, eubank and hopkins "competitiors". I have seen it from your point of view mate and aknowledge it...but think its pretty much wrong IMO
No can't say i would mate. to be honest i don't really think they will be made in the near future i mean nas has to lose all his weight then its up to barrera's camp if he even accepts it seeing as the guy has been out of action for soo long. as for hopkins/jones jr. i don't know if this will happen either partially cause joe is planning on fighting joens so that stops this fight happening for a good while and even after the fight happens one fighter may retire we don't know. I'm not saying this fights won't happen...but it's highly unlikely IMO
