Calzaghe vs Pavlik

Pavlik would out work an aging and slowing calzaghe. Calzaghe of two years ago could have taken Pavlik, but today Calzaghe is to old. He is slowing down noticeably, his stamina is not what it use to be.

Kessler never beat a live fighter in his life. When he beats a grade A or B fighter, maybe then you can talk. Kessler still hung with Joe to the last round and he had better vegas betting odds against Calzaghe than Hopkins did. It's not that Kessler lost because he was completely outclassed. It's not even that he lost because he was exposed. Calzaghe was simply better. That's a good point in addition, Kessler's heart is suspect. Kessler is no pushover though! I think he got overwhelmed in his fight with joe.. he was even afraid to throw punches. I don't think Kessler's heart is suspect. He still hung in there with Joe and I don't remember a point in that fight when he was afraid to throw against Joe. He stuck to his gameplan and got solid shots in against Joe, but Joe simply outworked him and forced his will on him. By no means did Kessler crumble in that fight, watch it again if you don't believe me.

I don't see RJJ winning that fight Me neither. Plenty of people do though, and thus it has a strange attraction for me.

Yeah. I don't know which fight I prefer TBH. I didn't like RJJ at first, I thought he was to old, but its really growing on me now. Guess I just want to see Joe beat the legend. My initial pick was for him to fight both tarver and Dawson and partially unify, just like he did at SMW, I thought that was the best for his legacy. I'd love to see Pavlik too, but I think its the one that would mean the least. Pavlik is really a middleweight and I'm not sure what Joe beating him would prove at this point, it would be kind of a similar scenario to both Kessler and Lacy, and he's already done that. I don't see RJJ winning that fight

Honestly, there is no way that would happen. Read my earlier post and tell me what you think. personally i rather see him fight kelly than fight RJJ I agree, but unfortunately the fight won't happen, Pavlik would beat RJJ at this point in their careers too - he is MUCH more dangerous to Calzaghe than Roy Jones Jr. - at least NOW he is. The sad thing is - Jones Jr. vs Calzaghe should have happened YEARS AGO, when both fighters were in their prime. Calzaghe would not "cross the pond" back then - he knew better I believe. Either that or Warren would not let him. After what happened to Roy in Korea, I can't blame him for not traveling to Europe to fight, but that said, I do remember him offering to fight in France but was turned down - I don't remember if it was Calzaghe who said no, or Darius M. - it was one of the two. Everyone feared Roy Jones Jr. in his prime, whether they admit it or not....

I don't know if it has been done before, but I have to see this. Personally I say Pavlik by tko/ko... Pavlik is too tough and too strong. They both are very active fighters. They both like to fight toe 2 toe. But really... Joe's exposed chin action will get him KTFO period. Ok Joe leaves himself exposed we get the idea...but he's been doing this for 45 fights and i havent seen him get knocked....beat yet. Im not anti-pavlik though mate. I do think pavlik is one hell of a fighter who has improved immensely over recent fights with such a jab! But i can't see joe's work rate slowing, the man is gettin on but however his fitness and stamina is tremedous, he didnt die out in the hopkins fight at least, it didn't seem that way to me. Joe does not need protecting from Pavlik! I can't believe you guys are still saying this stuff. Maybe Pavlik is willing to fight anyone, you could be right about that. You can say Pavlik is tailor made for Joe, but Pavlik has overcome every obstacle placed in front of him. Taylor was a bigger obstacle than Joe and Pavlik handled him. There's 2 things wrong with this post. 1) Calzaghe has overcome way more than Pavlik and is also undefeated. 2) We can't be thinking of the same Taylor. The Taylor I thought of boitched out of a fight with Joe, probably because he knew he would get whooped. Everyone said Lacy would destroy Joe, same for Kessler and most thought he would lose to Hopkins. If Joe was still protected he wouldn't have had these fights. I respect your opinion but I don't understand how you can praise pavlik in the way you do and expect him to win, while simultaneously not thinking much of Joe. Joe has beaten better fighters than Pavlik has and better fighters than Pavlik is. Pavlik can not say the same. Jermain Taylor is absolutely not better than Joe. How is it you find it possible to look right past everything Joe has achieved in his career?

Right now Kelly is not going to bring the publicity that joe would prefer, so it's not happening right now. This is more of a Fan's fight Joe would take the fight, no question. I still don't get how people can say Pavlik would beat Calzaghe when Kessler obviously failed. If you're looking at the skillsets of both fighters, Kessler does what Pavlik does only better. Kessler is stronger and is technically more sound than pavlik too. Kessler learned to throw lead uppercuts when he saw Calzaghe came in with his head low. Pavlik might have a slight edge over Kessler in terms of grit and being able to deal with adversity. Otherwise Pavliks never seen an all around fighter like Calzaghe that can punch from all types of angles and move his upper body/feet. Not to mention Joe is naturally bigger and has a granite chin even for his weightclass. He lost a bit of his speed by moving up to light heavy but he was still dancing around with the best of them against Kessler just last year. If he goes to super middle as a catch weight against pavlik, he'd gain back some of his speed. Kessler never beat a live fighter in his life. Pavlik could be the best p4p fighter on the planet, unless he changes his style considerably he still gets whooped badly by Joe. As Monk said, they don't come much more tailor made.....
