Hey Guys, Im new to this forum.
I am also from Australia and am a Some What Fan Of Anthony Mundine, Now, i have contacts that are Family relations to Anthony Mundine's Camp. And i knew Mundine was Going to America months before it was publicly known. Oscar De La Hoya is Bringing Anthony To USA and there are some talks down here of Anthony Fighting Joe Calzaghe. If anyone here doesnt know Mundine, Look him up on youtube, his record is 34- Wins 23-KOs 3-losses 0-Draws .
Mundine Lost to Kessler in 2005 and lost a UD, BUT Anthony Hurt Kessler and he was not the fighter he is today, he was much more simple, He Hurt Kessler but didntdo ANYTHING once he did. I have been disapointed in Anthony MANY times but i respect his in ring ability when he is at his best, he has great hand speed and good Punching power, and on his Best Night he may just beat Joe. I dont want to cause arguements in here, But if you hear about Mundine V Calzaghe, then remember that Mundine has got the skill, speed and power to win, but whether he will use it or not is a diffrent thing.
It's rather fitting that on the US Thanksgiving holiday we have a thread that I am truly thankful. Thankful that I didn't move to Oz and get surrounded by complete ****tards who think that Mundine could beat Calzaghe.
I doubt Mundane would make the Top 20 list of Calzaghe opponents. Actually that might be a little unfair - he probably would come in around the #17 mark.
No disrespect Bat. But unfortunately your not in the know, even though some people on here thought you were.
I have had a few conversations with Mikkel, 2 which have been post-Mundine fight. And you wouldn't believe how highly he rates him.
I also have a friend, who spoke to Mikkel who told me, Mikkel thought he was going to loose after a few rounds against Mundine, because he couldn't cope with the speed or footwork. And that Mundine got hit and went to defensive.
Bat, im not making shit here just for the sake of it. Kessler rates Mundine very highly!
I know Kessler rates Mundine highly. He recently said Mundine was his toughest fight. What I question was only if Kessler thought Mundine would beat Pavlik.
Damn. Would Calzaghe let Mundine beat him? No! I'm not being disrespectful of Mundine, I'm just saying Joe would not allow himself to be beaten by him.
Mundine wouldn't stand a snowflake in hell's chance of beating Joe Calzaghe, plus Joe already has bigger fish to fry in Johnson, Dawson, possibly Taylor, or a number of opponents who are more worthy of a shot at him.
Beating Mundine would add nothing significant except another W. He wouldn't get the respect he needs, any doubters would say "big deal... Kessler already beat Mundine". That's fine if he wants to surpass Marciano's record and do it with "safe" wins, but Joe shouldn't be padding out his own record at this stage in his career.
Who doesn't want a shot at Calzaghe? Mundine is at the back of a very long queue.

Mundine will never fight joe period(not big enough fight for joe n plus he thinks mundine is a cockmuncher which he is). If the fight did happen mundine would loose close to every round as its a very very bad style match up, mundine dsnt cope well under pressure and joe wld be throwing his millions punches per round, imo mundine would get stopped due to frequency of punches - he jst dsnt have style or heart to contend with joe (rooster4life would know this if he actually had any idea about boxing like he professes he has)
You really think Calzaghe has a better jab?
Im not talking about individual punches
Im thinking more of hand speed, chin, power, big fight experience, workrate and most of all heart.
You shouldn't believe ANY rumours about Mundine and his future opposition.
I've been disappointed more than a couple of times, having heard rumours (usually from UltimateBoxa) about Mundine potentially fighting Calzaghe, Kessler, Abraham or Sturm next and then seeing him fight Sam Soliman for the 56th time, Crazy Kim, Sosa Pintos, Nader Hamdan and possibly Shannon Taylor...
Atleast his father Tony Mundine fought great opposition, Carlos Monzon, Emile Griffith, Bennie Briscoe, Yaqui Lopez...
remember kids, it's about who Joe can beat, not who can beat him... As long as it goes far away from Chad Dawson, the talks about probable Joe Calzaghe fights are ok, right?
I thought the Same thing, But talking to People that know mundine they arnt to sure it wont happen, i wonder why De La Hoya would buy Mundine ( Over 30 years old ) to fight in America? Unless Oscar wanting to put him in a few big fights. Oscar is a very smart man, and im sure he Wants Mundine there for more then just to fight no names.
Unless he has spotted a chance to sell the sport to the Australian public, im not sure. Perhaps to cash in with a few big shows in OZ with Mundine and a few of his own fighters on the bill.
Welcome to the forum
I dont see Mundine as a threat to Calzaghe. Calzaghe is superior to him in every departement.
Besides, i think Joe has just the one fight left(in Wales) and that is dependant on the money and maybe the prestige of the event. Mundine has skills but isnt a well known fighter in the UK. As a selling point of view he doesnt really bring anything to the table.
This fight wont happen.

Mundine beat Joe?
Because Joe fights like Crazy Kim right? Calzaghe is an ELITE fighter, Kessler is a very good fighter and Mundine is just a good fighter.
Calzaghe will find a way to win against all very good and good fighters, only when he is matched against a fellow elite will he be in danger of losing. Hopkins is an elite fighter but past his prime, Jones is no longer elite.
Not because of Crazy Kim, But because i KNOW boxing, And its a sport that is full of upsets and suprises, Who would have thought Tyson would Lose to a 42-1 underdog? Joe is an "ELITE" fighter as you say. And Mundine is a "Good" Fighter, But have we seen Mundine at his 100% best? Some fighters step up on the night, Like Douglas did to Tyson, Mundine has the skill to compete with the best, but if he fought Joe, and he fought at 110% and if joe took Anthony just 1% lightly, it would be a very interesting fight. And boxing is unpredictable
I TOTALLY AGREE. This is what im trying to Say, he has the skill, but lacks smarts, if he focused for the fight and worked hard, i know he could beat Joe, Joe is not unbeatable, and Mundine is no Bum
