The punches that put Cintron down didn't look that powerful, not to take anything away from Margarito, but it looked as though Cintron lost heart after being cut and just gave up. He was all over the place.
I have said it once, and will say it again. He is the best fighter between 170 and HW and will completely demolish his opposition.
Mormeck, Braithewaite and Jirov would all beat him ... David Haye would put him to sleep in a single round.
Tarver's success against Jones was debunked when Glen Johnson repeated the feat.
Obviously, I cant say how affected a fighter may have been, but I honestly thought Cintron would have continued, he was just all over the place though, he'd made a mistake, a bad decision that was unfolding before him, helpless to hopeless.
Margarito's volume of punches and aggression just didn't cooperate with Cintron's composure. He wanted out man, it was all too much for him to take.
Nah, he was just a little out of his depth.
I'd be more worried about his confidence though and the confidence a loss like that will give future opponents.
I think if he can shock a few guys who are out to repeat Margarito's success then he should improve, get past this fall and come again.
He's still green, give him credit for taking the fight, if not for his performance itself.
In what way did he look crappy? Sounds like he won comfortably against a decnt guy.
I spent the whole fight with my heart in my mouth, hoping that the looping shots Estrada was constantly catching him with, didn't eventually land flush. Shane was getting caught hard and often, and if it wasn't for Mosley's shots being the more effective (just!) it could have gone either way.
Where have his blistering combinations gone? Why didn't he throw more of his trademark killer body shots? Especially after they gave him his only real success in the fight?
He got the job done, just.
I'm a fan and I dont think I'm being too harsh because to call that a return to form would be a grave injustice to the Shane of old.
you got 0 outta 3 right, Mosley won by dec., Margarito by TKO, and Brock won not Little Time McCline
 Mosley and Margarito both won you petty schmuck. If I could pick outcomes with the pinpoint accuracy that you seem to think is the norm then I'd be arrested.
I never backed out of any bet, I don't bet on this site, i bet with REAL $ so have fun in fairy-tale-land ThompsonFan
You backed out. End of story. I dont care if you backed out of a real or 'make-believe' internet bet, you still backed out after flapping your gums about a fighter you know jack f. shit about.
It's cool though, I'd be pissed off too if my bluff had been called and my hand was dogshit poor.
Thompsonfan? I knew it, it was you who called me that before! Haha :bottle:
Toney loses a close points decision. He'll then break the habit of a lifetime and give a dignified post-fight interview, proclaiming Ruiz the 'better man on the night'.
Toney and ruiz will then embark on a lifelong friendship kindled by their mutual loathing of Roy Jones Jr.
great job on those predictions, you missed every one of 'em
and I'm guessing the other remarks are sarcastic so I won't comment
Steady on Sac. At least I got 2 out of the 3 picks right. Picking McCline to KO Brock early isn't a farfetched notion, I just didn't count on Brock having the balls and smarts to gather himself after getting dropped. Do you always get every prediction right? No, you dont, what's more, I think if you were to predict as precisely as fashion of win and round ending, you'd cut your success rate tenfold, so dont get all holier than thou with me.
You're just a bitter little toad aren't you? Just because you backed out of a Lacy/Calzaghe bet after running your mouth about how shit Joe is.
:D Pu ...
alrighty genius, my predictions were as follows: Mosley UD, Brock UD, and Cintron UD, I got 2 outta 3 right, not only with the fighters, but with the outcome
you were 0 FOR 3, cry yourself a river
Buddy, it's you that has the problem with my predictions being slightly off the mark, not me. I couldn't care any less, it's not as though you're any better at predicting the outcomes of fights than me or anyone else. Picking a UD is a cinch, I like to live a little more dangerously than that, it helps in adding excitement to a fight if you're pulling for something to go down in a specific round.
I mean, if I cared even a little I'd have cleaned my sig before now.
You're just burnt over the Calzaghe bet, which was for your avatar. I would have owned you on a daily basis and you know it, so keep talkin' :D
Hopkins knew his limits.
There is NO-ONE out there capable of handing Joe a defining fight. If he beats Lacy, he beats a young champ who got ahead of where he should've been at, if he beats Johnson or Tarver all he'll earn is the hide of the guy who beat a spent Jones Jr.
Kessler? Mundine? Green? Vanderpool? Joe would be expected to win those fights.
Hopkins was to be Joe's crowning achievement, it's a shame nobody told Bernard. Hopkins had his piece of the pie, why would he surrender it? He's not dumb.
JUYJUY - Good Job on shutting up Sactown, you saved me the bother :D .
Did you know that Sactown was talking yet more erroneous shit about Calzaghe in an old thread? Then, when it was announced that Lacy was likely to fight Joe before the end of the year, he balked at the bet I offered him. You may as well ignore his guff, it's toothless.
well tonight doesn't mean he will NEVER be anything again..he just didn't look overly spectacular tonight...
but don't forget...it is hard to look awesome when you constantly take on tough opponents...
Forrest, ODLH, Winky, moves back down to face a top 10 tough fighter who just came off of a big win....
no Mosley didn't look great...but he got the win in dominant fashion vs a tough top 10 fighter...
I didn't say he'd never be anything again, I think he has a good chance against most of the welterweights out there.
Dominant fashion? Not really man, it was a VERY close fight, most rounds were tough to score IMO, although I did give it to Shane by a wide margin.
He is a shell of the fighter he once was. Speedsters, I guess age gets 'em all.
Well if anybody's a qualified judge of mediocrity, it would be somebody who roots for Carl...I mean David Haye
How could i charge Thompson or Haye with mediocrity? The fact that I'm a 'FAN' means that I don't view them as being mediocre. You've gone from mediocre to dumb in the space of one post. Way to go.
What you should have said was: How can you judge my mediocrity when you support mediocre (in Sac's opinion) fighters?
We'll see how overrated he is when he gets knocked out by jeff lacy
Overrated? He's overrated. Is that what you'll be saying when Lacy crumples on the canvas?
This should be a war, both guys won't need to go looking for each other so it should be action all the way. I'm picking Mormeck on points because having only seen Braithwaite once he looked like a banger & that's it whereas Mormeck is a little more well rounded so i'm backing Mormeck.
Hit the nail on the head. It's still a pick 'em fight though.
Where's Sactown at?
If you read this, I'll bet you your avatar for 3 months that Calzaghe beats him if the fight comes off.
I hope I haven't confused you with another poster (my apologies if I have), but wasn't it you who was bitching about Joe not so long ago?
Here's your chance to put your money where your mouth is, so to speak.
Do you accept?
I think people grow weary of your
RJJ K.O. Ali 1 speeches. That is all I am saying.
As for me keeping up: Dont kid son. Please. I am far above you intelectually.
