yo Bishop, isn't Gambao that kid that went ot the Olympics and won a Gold medal representing Cuba?? I heard of him, quite impressive to win a championship with only like 8 professional fights. I hope they don't rush this kid, (like Vargas, David Reid) who had huge potential and were matched up too earlly with Trinidad and were never quite the same afterwards. The dude's got less than 10 professional fights and has already won a trinket belt!
Thats him,go to boxrec and have a look at his first 9 opponents, its simply amazing how hard his promotor has been pushing him in,hes already fighting in the deep end, most champs today, have never faced this type of opposition in there first 10 fights, and the way he's been KO'ing them u can see hes a special fighter
Ortiz has the better talent as of now,hes ready for the title,Khan not yet,but anyway..Gamboa is the best prospect in boxing

Never seen Gamboa any youtube clips? Biggest talent/prospect for me is Andre Berto, massive potential.
If Andre Berto doesn't tighten up his defense, his prospects might not be as high as people think. He doesn't defend himself well when he's on the offensive. He is being matched properly against progressively better opponents while he learns his trade. I'd steer clear of counter punchers like Judah and big punchers like Margarito.
If he is going to be ready for the top level, it won't be this year.
I think Ortiz could use one or two more step-up fights. We have seen how good he is on the level that he's fought on, but I'd like to see him pushed a few rounds against a veteran. Somebody who can extend you a few rounds, like Oscar Diaz or Cosme Rivera can adequately equip a young fighter to win a 12 round title fight with a guy like Ricardo Torres.
We've seen a lot of blowouts from Ortiz. That shows his power, but what situations have included Ortiz where he shows that he can adjust and hold up mentally over 8 rounds. Ask Kendall Holt, Torres is like Iran Barkley or O'Neill Bell. You can beat him for 10 rounds and have him out and he will turn the tables on you and knock you out.
Going a few rounds never hurt a fighter.
As for Gamboa, he's in tougher than you might think with Darling Jiminez. When he's on, he is on.
I remember Ortiz when 10 or 12 rounds with Emmanuel Clottey on the VS Network a while ago. Clottey just wanted to survive though it seemed. Ortiz ended up stopping him right before the final bell.
Maussa was supposed to really test him....and we all know what happened there.
But i do see what your saying. Rivera and Diaz are welterweghts though and Ortiz is at 140. I say get him a fight with a guy like Arturo Morua, that will get him some rounds probably.
They're both very talented fighters that will win titles in the future.
Khan has some serious skills, great handspeed, good power and he's a great finisher.
I have only seen Victor Ortiz fight once and that was against Carlos Maussa, I was very impressed...It took Ricky Hatton 9 rounds to KO Maussa...Victor Ortiz took out Maussa in 1 round!!

He's fighting next week on HBO,with only 9 pro fights he is already fighting Darling Jiminez,a VERY solid fighter from Dominican Republic, after that Jose Rojas, who just fought champ Chris John
Haven't seen Ortiz, but Khan looks a good prospect.
As he's only 21 and short of physical maturity it's impossible to know how high he'll climb. What I will say is he's got fast hands, wicked combinations and a finisher's instinct.
Needs to work on his defence, tho.
i have never seen Khan fight, is he a lightweight or jr welter? Brits brag about him, and Americans call him overated. Ortiz is a stud, so i guess Khan is goodd to? how duz he fight
Khan is a lightweight, but he won't stay one for very long. He is young and lanky.
I saw Victor Ortiz for the first time last night and was really impressed. I have seen Amir Kahn many of times and although Amir Kahn has got the quicker hand speed so far from what i have seen Ortiz technically looks the better fighter. But then again i have only seen Ortiz once. His stance is similar to cotto's, the way he keeps coming forword, composed good jab and his defence looked solid, apart from when he got caught that once. If they were to match up now, I think Amir might stuggle to break Ortiz down and get caught when trying to. As he leaves himself open quick alot.

I was wondering who do u guys think has the bigger potential out of Victor Ortiz and Amir Khan
It's too early for me, yeah but aren't they in different weight classes though, Amir kahn is a Light Weight, Victor Ortiz is a Light Welter. I think that Ortiz's Southpaw stance gives alot of fighters trouble, they can't figure him out. he does have a greater KO percentage than Kahn, but his opposition was a factor though, but Ortiz has fought guys that were undefeated, (12-0, 11-0, 9-0) and gave them their first loss. Amir Khan has yet to face an undefeated fighter. At this point in thier careers Victor Ortiz has the better status.
