Check the level of opposition and the guys Floyd didn't fight.
Honestly, that goes into CREDIT not being given. Floyd was NEVER given any credit. He beat names, NAMES that everyone said was gonna K.O Floyd. Floyd beat em and didn't get any respect. Everyones a bum once Floyd beats them. I just wish they gave credit to the natural 140 pounder for beating the names at 147 and DLH at 154
their not boxing fans their rocky and mma fans that dont know the definition of the sweet science"hit and dont get hit"
Ali, SRR, Pep, Whitaker did this. Mayweather does it and he don't get no love?? Why
His ego would'nt let him take the smaller piece of pie again. That's why.
Smaller yet a BIG PIECE OF PIE. Mayweather would have never throw away that kind of money. So what stopped him?? Hmmmmmmmm
I think he wasn't MOTIVATED
I agree, but some boxers take it to another level by (as one poster said) treating it as if were a game of "tag you're it" Some boxers are so focused on the 'not getting hit" part, that they tend to abandon thier offense all together.
What fighters are you talking about? Cory Spinks?
Floyd would get more respect if he just fought the fights people wanted to see.
No Cotto, no Margarito, no Williams, no Mosley.
But he did fight a murderers row of Sosa, Ndou, Corley, Gatti, Mitchell, Judah, Baldomir, DLH and Hatton.
Everyone knows those were much more dangerous fights.
But I get what you're saying though.
Rocky Marciano and Sven Ottke pound for pound the best ever!
Lifestyle Undefeated!
I agree but he no longer is MOTIVATED in the sport. Why should Floyd step in the ring against dangrous fighters while not be motivated?? Is this the Floyd you wana see?? The answer should simply be NO.
Don't know and don't care. It was a shitty fight to begin with.
However, there is still an entire division for him to prove his greatness against.
He retired.
So you agree. He isn't MOTIVATED cuz if he were this so called "Money Fighter" he would have taken the DLH rematch. Floyd LOVES money and was no longer motivated to boxing...that he even refused to fight DLH.
Well, technically speaking, it is boxing because a "punch" is landed. However, I'm not really in favor of "playing tag" as I call it. I prefer to see guys actually hit each other with skillful powerful punches. Love taps don't cut it for me.
Then your talking about Calzaghe.
He was motivated to talk all that shit, but hes not motivated to prove that hes better?
yea, you're right.
"we're not fighting to prove whos the best to the fans, we're fighting for money"
If you were any smart. Why didn't Mayweather take the DLH rematch?? Oh but I'm sure he was "Motivated".
Carlos Baldomir
age: 37
Antonio Margarito
age: 30
What was Baldomir when Floyd Mayweather Jr. fought him?
WBC + RING MAGAZINE + LINEAL WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD
At that time Baldomir was a bigger name. He beat Gatti, Judah. Margarito ain't beat anyone at the time.
Not in height.
But in build and thickness. Definitely.
Thank you.
:)
yeah not in height, my fault. No offense but most Mexicans don't use they're reach and height.
Nice boxrec work. Loser.
You seem to be forgetting the fuss that got made over Margarito's losses before the Cotto fight and how they were stupidly used to discredit his chances.
But then. Your dumbass never gave Margarito a chance against your overhyped idol anyway.
Baldomir was a work in progress for a long time.
The losses don't mean shit in relation to how dangerous an opponent he was when Mayweather fought him.
Which was unbeaten in 8 years.
You know it.
Bald was bigger and stronger then Mayweather. The size difference between Bald and Mayweather was MUCH BIGGER then the size difference of Margarito and Cotto. Thats for damn sure.
One had the balls to get in the ring with Margarito, while the other made 101 excuses not to. I'll always respect the man who gave it his all, yet lost, over another who wouldnt even have the balls to step in the ring.
Lol, don't switch the subject. What ur saying now has nothing to do with the poll. One knows how to fight with his back against the ropes, box'd beautifully and traded with him for 8 rounds. If Cotto was the fighter Floyd was that night, he would have won.
More admirable?
Spartans taking on the entire Persian Army and losing
or
The Persian Army outnumbering the Spartans 100-1 and winning
The ojective is to win. Your saying Cotto would rather entertain then have gotten beat the way he did?? Make some sense lol
"The famous people you have right now in boxing are the only famous people who are going to exist in the future for boxing...the Oscar De La Hoyas, Jermain Taylor's, Bernard Hopkins'"
-Joe Rogan
What a load of shit!
Hopkins w/o question.
only reason he lost is because he didn't have the stamina at age 43 to keep up.
Sad, because I am 100% sure if RJJ loses it will be because of the same reason. Calzaghe simply can't outclass Hopkins/RJJ remember I said.
I think that's a pretty impressive display of wing chun...
Yeh your right. Guess what I meant to let the thread starter know was that, what the guy can do isn't rare
Not sure if this has been posted here awhile ago or not.
If it hasn't, you can pick your jaw up now. :D :ugh:
I seen videos like that b4 and that isn't impresive. He isn't punching. He is not the 1st to move at that speed alot and I mean ALOT of people can do that. Bruce Lee was faster then that and he actually punch'd unlike that guy
None of you have any idea if Mayweather is coming back to fight the Cotto-De La Hoya winner. My money says he will. The only one who can screw this up is Cotto by losing to Margarito. Cotto needs to prove himself and earn a mega money fight. If he wins this one, he deserves it. If he beats Oscar, he'll get it.
Yeah man I feel the same way. Too bad other are stupid and don't see it the way we do.
I can only assume that this guy, when he states to the undefeated pound for pound champion of the sport getting "his ass handed to him", is referring to the first Castillo fight? Many people feel that Floyd lost a close fight. For future reference; dropping a close decision, even if Floyd had lost, does not constitute getting your ass handed to you.
When I 1st saw the Mayweather vs Castillo fight I said fucking robbery! Then when I watched it a couple of times u notice Castillo isn't landing all the punch's people thought he was. I saw Mayweather as the winner but definitly not the clear winner. And btw Mayweather hand was broken. People don't take that into consideration. Mayweather has weak hands, Atleast he doesn't resort to slapping
This asshole once also wondered why people thought Floyd could KO Hatton. He was calling people stupid for thinking that Floyd could KO hatton. Cmongmang is a tool
I know. I can't stand the dude. He needs to find another site. By his logic. I guess Diego is biger then Cotto.
NEVER saw Spad fight ever man, you're right...
who is he BTW?
I just heard he was a good fighter and he beat Floyd up in sparring..
got me there homay, cant fool you... :pat:
Alot of good fighters get beat up in sparring, Your point?? You know nothing about boxing. The objective in sparring, Is to LEARN. Improve some stuff. You noobie
Floyd CHOOOSES to come in lighter ..
it plays into both of their styles...
Floyd is BIGGER then Cotto..
Bones, Length, Height..shoes Size, Shoulder wIDTH..
get out of here with your crap
EM is bigger then Cotto also.
Oh so Cotto chose to forego 2 divisions in which he could have been champ? nice try...
Floyd is bigger than Cotto, lol... I guess Hearns is bigger than Holyfield or Tyson, and yes Holy and Hearns both fought at cruiser.
Reason why I said EM is bigger then Cotto. C'mmong is an ass and doesn't know shit.
