At the white house? Calm down. Algieri won't be champion long enough to get to that level.
Ya why not? He all over every newspaper in NY and all over the sports news and now mainstream news hanging with celebrities and last month nobody even know who the hell he was. I could see it. If he gets that Pac fight I could def see it
Makes business sense
HELL NO! and quit makign stupid posts like this everybody or bobs gonna get ideas and try to make an algieri pacquiao fight, what a joke
why not? It makes business sense. Hold the fight in China and put algieri all over espn and fox doing interviews, maybe get him a GQ cover story. Hes never lost. Never lost as a World Champion Kickboxer either. Has 40 pro fights and has never lost. NY media would hype him up like crazy = alot of ppv buys. No Promotional conflict. Not a physically dangerous fight for Pac. This is a business and this fight can be sold. Maybe some dont want to see it BUT that doesnt mean it wont sell. Pair it with a good co main event and people will buy...even those here who say they wont would buy out of morbid curiousity. TV/Media exposure equals $$$
Pac vs Algieri Willl Be An Entertaining Fight
Interesting match up against 2 very skilled boxers...Algieri is WAY better than most give him credit for...this will be a very entertaining fight and I see Algieri out boxing him to be quite honest. Great match up for Pacquiao politically and financially but its a HUGE mistake for him stylistically asd he will lose his title to the unbeaten and under rated Algieri. Algieri wins this! Watch
so then this will be a NON Title Fight @ 144?
I'm guessing that neither man will be putting their belts on the in then if it's a catch weight fight. Can't right?
weight is irrelevant
Algieri is an expert at weight cutting. He helps advise mma fighters on weight cutting. He helped UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman a couple times cut weight for his fights. Algieri walks around year round at 160 lbs. He is always at 155 or higher by fight time so weight isn't an issue for Algieri. Must be Pacquiao camp who wants catch weight
wonder what the odds will be?
So far on here 29 think Pacquiao and 7 think Algieri in upset....so what's that 4 to 1?....I say they are more lopsided than that....maybe 6 to 1 or more. Algieri was a 5 to 1 dog against Provodnikov so Pacquiao in China with crowd cheering everytime he lands a punch HAS to be higher! Tough for Algieri to get a decision in China?...you bet! I say 7 to 1
from 100,000 to 1.5 million ...not to mention the opportunity to fight the greatest fighter of this era on a big stage.
and he's complaining? i used to respect algieri, but i don't know anymore. smh.
I just found out his promoter wants 60% of the purse. So who could blame Algieri? I wouldn't fight Pacquiao in China for 600 K and give my promoter who isn't fighting or paying other expenses, trainers, camp etc more than I was making. I don't blame Algieri one bit. This is bs at its highest level. This promoter should be shot. What a scumbag. Good for Chris turning it down....now that promoter gets nothing. Greedy scumbag. Respect
Chris knows Arum wants the fight bad,so Arum will probably up the anti to 2.5 or 3 million.
This fight will happen because its in Macau, why give Pac a top star in Macau when its proven the fight will not sell in the states, since the rios fight only did like 200k buys or something. Arum is doing this for boxing to have a presence in Macau and also because he has a deal where he gets paid the same amount of money or more if he were to do a ppv in the states. he has a good deal with the casinos there.
If he gets 3 million this kid is a genius...even his own promoter is saying 1.5 million is fair. Probably just wants to get him to sign on dotted line. This is an interesting play by Algieri. You don't get fight signed then you stay in your own weight class and fight (probably at home in NY) and get a fair crack at trying to unify belts at 140. Knows he can be marketed and Arum wants him for China fight. Wants to get paid to move up in weight and fight an Asian legend in Asia. If he gets paid he wins even if he loses. If not then build your value at home at 140 lbs. He just turned down an offer to make 15 times more than he has ever made in his career...that is a very confident move. If he gets paid double what he was offered to get a chance to defeat a legend then the kid is a ****ing genius. He made $10,000 just 2 fights ago. Super ballsy
The only areas where Algieri has a shot is the fact that Pac is 35 years old and his legs have slowed with age and that is not a good situation against a fleet-footed younger fighter. Pac is the favorite and expected to win. But how you tell when someone is new to boxing is when they say a fighter as a zero chance of winning. That is a red flag that they just discovered the sport. There is no such thing as zero chance at the top levels.
Exactly. This is a dangerous fight for Pacquiao...the fight that Roach didn't want actually. Why do you think Roach didn't want it?? :boxing:
Those sources...are probably the guys in his ear right now advising him he should get more. They don't know what they're talking about. Yea, the promoter makes money off the fighter. But at least the promoter got him a big fight in Provodnikov, and potentially a fight against PAC.
These "advisors" probably want some money for themselves.
It's so simple. Ok, Algieri wants more money. Fine, make a counter offer and go from there. But it seems, like he hasn't spoken to even his promoter after a whole week. So what's the deal?
From what I was told that Daily News article that guy was lying his ass off and that of course he asked for more money. Problem is most of that 1.5 is going to the promoter and Algieri feels what he is getting to paid to travel to China to fight Pac is a bs offer and he is being made out to look like the bad guy and is willing to hold out for other fights in NY for less money. I am told he wants to unify the belts at 140 and has no problem turning this fight down because he isn't the one losing a big pay day...the promoter who was lying in Daily News article is since he is taking most of that 1.5
The guy wants to take over 60% of the kids purse. And then goes in Daily News to scare the kid into signing. The only one scared is the promoter. Guy gonna lose a BIG payday being greedy. If you guys were Algieri would u take the fight for that? I wouldn't. Hard fight to win moving up weight vlass in China. If you ain't getting paid then why do it. This fight won't happen I'm told.
New Daily News article today....appears Algieri and his promoter have a serious disconnect. Kid is playing hardball and his manager says it isn't about money but in interview yesterday Algieri said it IS about money and getting paid what he is worth. Call me crazy but I trust the fighter here over the promoter. I wonder how much the promoters take is? The devil is always in the details. http://m.nydailynews.com/sports/more-sports/long-island-boxer-algieri-danger-losing-pacquiao-fight-article-1.1865582
Absolutely!
This could be a very tough fight for pac.
You tube video of Algieri breaking down the match up of him vs. Pacquiao....some pretty interesting insight. The confidence just pours out of this kid. He is one win away from being a boxing superstar. I have a feeling this may be a very tough fight for Pacquiao. Check out his analysis. People sleeping on this kid....tellin ya. http://youtu.be/kjk9gX7xQRo
This article makes a strong case for Algieri...check it out.

Algieri today on Fox Business News again...as well as Good Day New York on Fox

I'm watching Algieri-Peralta on demand right now... Manny is going to hurt this kid. He's constantly getting pieced up by a slow, novice level boxer. He might have had a one trick pony like Provodnikov's number, but Pacquiao will leave him dreaming.
Of the many Algieri fights I have watched that Peralta fight was one of his weaker performances I agree, but Algieri also pulled away in the late rounds and won that fight by a large margin. It wasn't a close fight. Also I like to look at a fighters last 3 performances and to go back farther than that has little bearing on anything to be honest. What is clear however in watching his fights as well as talking with people in his camp is that Algieri is a steadily improving fighter who is now entering the prime of his career. Pacquiao while still great and coming off 2 dominant performances against Rios and Bradley after being knocked unconscious against Marquez is on the downside of his career. Algieri is a very smart skillful fighter who is clearly an exceptional athlete when you look into his accomplishments in his life. He has heart in spades and a very driven and focused unbeaten Champion with the opportunity of a lifetime in front of him in a win-win situation. Someone once said "be careful of a man who has nothing to lose" he is supposed to lose (just like he was for his last 2 fights) and has stepped up to the challenge as he has stepped up in competition. This is the ultimate test for him leaving his comfort zone of NY to fight one of boxing ' s best in China where he is loved and adored. Location advantage goes to Pacquiao as does experience obviously and I'm not sure who the faster fighter is (we will only know for sure November 22nd) but age, height, Reach and yes fighting style I give to Algieri. This is a VERY intriguing match up that I think may shock the boxing world. I think this kid is WAY better than people realize. What is telling is you have a guy like Brandon Rios (who fought Pac in Macau and has trained and sparred with Algieri) saying this will be a great fight ...that tells me me that people are sleeping on Algieri. This is a very interesting fight. If Algieri loses he is supposed to but if he goes to China and wins then boxing has a new bona-fide undefeated 2 division Champion superstar.
lol, WBO trying to strip agleri
http://www.fightsaga.com/news/item/4895-chris-algieri-boxing-championship-belt
yep....they are stipping Algieri of his title because he is moving up in weight to fight for WBO Welterweight crown....bull**** new rule i guess. Stupid...he should be allowed to defend his title...its only been 4 month. Some political ****
After reading more about Algieri... I conclude, the guy knows how to win in life.
Bachelors in Heath Science
Masters degree from New York Institute of Technology
He's a clinical nutrionist with private clients
Black belt in chinese Kenpo
Wrestler who won a state catholic championship in high school/reached semis in the public championship
He then became a kickboxing champion... World kickboxing champion amassing a 20-0 record before retiring.
He's now 20-0 boxer...Against all odds with 1 eye shut after early knockdowns... He boxes his way to a close decision over legit champion Provodnikov.
Algieri knows how to win. He rarely lost in life. I am a student of success principles. And I'm impressed. It's not an accident that he's been a champion wrestler, kickboxer, and boxer. And he's been dedicated enough to finish his schooling.
The guy takes nutrition seriously as well.
PAC needs to to take this fight seriously. Some people on here think it's gonna be easy? I don't think so. This Algieri guy simply knows how to win.
Yep 100%! The guy is a winner at everything he does in life...in very hard things. That is a VERY unique resume. He is a high level athlete who has had 40 professional fights and has never lost and is in the prime of his career at 30 years old in a win win situation. Dangerous indeed.
Can anyone ever remember a more confident and poised looking 7 to 1 underdog than Chris Algieri? This kid wins this fight and he will be a straight up rockstar
