I had Lara, winning by a round or two. I just feel like Canelo was majorly out skilled in this fight. He was constantly applying the pressure however. I didn't feel there wereany swing rounds, so I think that is why I was so disappointed with the judges. I think there should be a rematch because the fight was close enough to demand one. I always give Canelo credit for fighting any and everyone. I really respect his mentality in that aspect. Of people feel that maifana deserved a rematch, I think Lara deserves one as well.
Oh, it definitely would be. Lara, like all spoilers, won't learn a fucking thing from that loss. He's already convinced himself that he won, FFS. Ontop of that, all 18 of his fans keep tweeting him about how he was "robbed." That's only going to further cement the idea in his brain that he actually won the fight, even though the record books will always read 'L.'
Spoilers are notorious for that. You talk a lot of shit, you get the fight signed, you train really hard like you're actually going to fight, and then you get there and jab, run, and clinch for 36 minutes. You do everything you can to keep the fight close so that when you lose the decision you'll have something to bitch about publicly, but you never actually try to win the fight dominantly.
That would be too risky. You might get KTFO'd trying to do something like that. Better to play it safe, win a few rounds, run around like a twat, and cry about the "injustice" at the post fight presser. You save more face that way because fans of this sport are, by and large, retarded. So if you keep it close enough they'll swear you got robbed and still claim you're undefeated.
Better than that being KTFO'd and losing more support.
I agree with this post 184%, great post.:fing02:
Lara knew what he had to do to get a win but he wasn't willing to do it.
He should fire his whole corner if they thought that strategy was a way to victory.
Those scores that it was a close fight but Canelo deserved the victory.
All 10 of Lara's fans were crying robbery before the fight even started so its not surprising to see them crying now. in a few months many of them will forget who Lara is, just like Trout.
Sorry, what I meant to say was...
Herpa derp...Money May...Derpity derp...Manny Pacquiao...(Insert fighter here) got robbed! I scored it 7-5!...(insert fighter here) is ducking (insert fighter here)...mumblemumblemumble....PPV buyrates...(insert fighter here) is overrated...fight purses...You can't be a fan of boxing unless you appreciate spoilers...Miss Jackson...power punchers suck.
That's what I'm sayin!
Yada yada yada...Showtime...flimdity flim flam....HBO...greater than...that's why I.....duuuuuuuh derp......canceled (insert channel here). Blah blah blah ...coward...(insert fighter here)is a cheater. (More bullsh*t) ...this is the sweet science bro!
I gave Lara the nod at the time, but I'm on the fence upon thinking it over some more. This just shows how close of a fight it was. I have no problem with people thinking Canelo won. I would have been fine with a close SD either way or a draw. 117-111 is ridiculous though, for either fighter.
I will say this though, Lara should have fought to win it. He knew he was up against a more popular fighter with a partisan crowd. He was very negative and didn't take it to Canelo. I understand his style, but there were times when he was doing nothing. Canelo was there to go to war. Lara wasn't. Again, I gave him the nod after the fight, but I don't think he has the right to complain.
It's hard to express how distasteful his style is without being called a hater, that's how displeasing it is to watch, only the element of surprise keeps me watching if it's live.
That's mainly why I don't want to see it again, Lara will again attempt to exploit the system, run the clock whilst looking to steal the rounds again, as a fan of Canelo's that shit was disheartening to see, again I didn't expect Lara to go to that extent but I guess I was wrong.
I immediately dismiss anybody who uses the term "hater" to describe the person they've conversing with. It's infantile horse shit. A dismissal without having to provide an actual rebuttal. Only part of the vernacular of those under the age of 18 or those suffering from severe mental deficiencies, typically both.
I can't take anybody like that seriously.
I also can't take anybody seriously who is of the opinion that you have to appreciate spoilers in order to be considered a "real boxing fan." It's absolute nonsense. There are dozens of styles of fighting in this sport, I seriously doubt that anybody appreciates all of them on the same level. Some people here really dislike power punchers (look at how much negativity Matthysse and Golovkin get), some people dislike upright European fighters (Klitschko, anybody?), some people don't enjoy watching spoilers (Lara, Hopkins, etc..), etc, etc, etc...
Nobody enjoys every style. We all have preferences.
Lara definitely wouldn't change anything in a rematch. He'd fight the same, drop another decision, and still proclaim victory.
I've never been a big fan of Lara. Anyone who's read my posts about him over the years knows that. But I've supported him for obvious reasons. I thought he won 115-113, but Landy really should've done more in his effort. The more I think about the outcome, the less I care. Not that I support bad decisions -- that 117-111 score was vomitus -- but Lara should've known to throw more punches with bad intentions. Shit, Gamboa earned more respect in a fight where he got KTFO. Landy might've objectively won this fight, but no one cares...even the guys who believe it.
great post. green k coming

Lot of truth in this post. If you get smoked, there's no denying you lost.

Good post. Schoolin fools
Just goes to show Lara lost a close fight......time to move on Lara.
You could have won that fight.....
But,,,,as they say.....
Shoulda, woulda, coulda.....you didn't
As a Lara fan, his performance upset me.
It's real tough to listen to that jabber about a rematch, too. How many paydays do you expect, bro? You got here only a few years ago from Cuba. You got a million dollar payday in only your twenty-third fight, despite having a boring style. Now you're asking for more, when there are guys willing to die in there for that kind of money? FOH
I'm telling you, the more I think about it, the more worked-up I get. :lol1:
