"You have to do more to beat the champ"
"he was running the whole time"
"Manny made the fight"
"He landed more but his punches didn't cause more damage"
"He left it up to the judges ... His fault"
Assuming this fight goes the distance and Algeri actually puts on the performance of a lifetime (again) and wins... How can he possibly win ?
We know the only way Algeri can win is by doing what he does... Use movement and box or as most people would call it "run".
How else can he get the decision against pacquiao ?
He had to pitch a damn near shutout against Prov to get the nod and the cards proved he was close to getting robbed.
Prov is nowhere near the star PAC is, It's safe to say PAC will get any round that isn't absolutely CLEAR ... I'm talking miss every single punch and have his head snapped back a few times CLEAR ...
Whats the point to this fight ? How can Algeri win ?
Hire Memo ?
What Algerie did was box. He circled around the ring, fought inside the pocket when needed to, and took the fight to the center. Lara was running last Saturday lol he never really went to the center and was along the ropes damn near 90% of the time. Anyone that thinks Provo beat Algerie don't know **** about boxing period.
Algieri does have the size, length and reach.. He also has good boxing and movement skills.
I think he can cause manny a lot of problems.. Algieri could be a fresher, younger, bigger, more movement, not as skilled version of Marquez.. I think algieri could def make manny look bad in there.. Circling him, and catching manny with potshots and the occasional combinations, especially if manny comes in lackadaisical like he did in Barrera 2, jmm 3, Bradley 1..
This is a total trap fight for manny, and a lot of people sleeping on the problems that algieri brings to the table
Bradley didn't outland pacquiao in the first fight, much less outland him 5-1 but he still got the decision. he didn't appear to have won but still got the W. This should be a good enough answer for you, unless you think the bradley dominated pac in the first one.
It's not a good enough answer ... There are plenty of threads with regard to the Bradley fight. And most people think there was some foul play/corruption involved, different situation.
Assuming everything is on the up and up ... The judges aren't going to favor Algeri style and fighting outside of his comfort zone is almost a sure-fire way to lose or get knocked out. So how can he get the win ?
I still haven't gotten an actual response ... If Algeri fights HIS fight and appears to have won the fight how can he possibly win a decision with all the excuses already set for pacquiao and the way judges are likely to score rounds ?
Ex.
If Algeri out lands pacquiao 5-1 in a round but PAC lands a HARD punch to close the round ... How do you think that round will be scored ?

The only areas where Algieri has a shot is the fact that Pac is 35 years old and his legs have slowed with age and that is not a good situation against a fleet-footed younger fighter. Pac is the favorite and expected to win. But how you tell when someone is new to boxing is when they say a fighter as a zero chance of winning. That is a red flag that they just discovered the sport. There is no such thing as zero chance at the top levels.
Exactly. This is a dangerous fight for Pacquiao...the fight that Roach didn't want actually. Why do you think Roach didn't want it?? :boxing:

Am I the only person who wouldn't really mind seeing this fight? A naturally bigger, skillful boxer who can move might pose some problems for manny.
I don't mind seeing this either. It just doesn't belong on PPV.
Yeaaaaaaa ... Anyway. Good thing you popped up you're the exact kind of person this post was intended for.
(Serious question)
What would Algeri have to do to HONESTLY make your believe he won the fight given his style of boxing ?
DOnt get me wrong, Algieri won that fight and it was a pretty good example of how boxing can be used to defeat a stronger puncher. If you keep in mind that he did that with one eye, that's even more impressive. I do think its a bit too soon for a Pac fight, he should have had at least two other big fights before going for Pac but I think he's a pretty good boxer and he showed just that in his last fight.
If Algieri does win, I'm not sure I want to be on NSB for a while. It will be nothing but Fl0mo threads saying Pac is a bum and P@ctard threads saying Pac was robbed since Algieri ran.
The racism will be unbearable.
Lmao ... ^^^^ The lowest common denominator /thread
I think the thread was over before it began. I know you're laughing in a corner while you self hug.
It's not a bad match up lets face it - Algieri has proven himself against Ruslan although Herrera has proven himself against Ruslan and Garcia so that would have been a better opponent
The world slick is used to loosely on this forum. Algieri is more of an imitation, not a true slick fighter.
I never used the word slick when describing Algeri ... As a matter of fact no one in this entire thread has.... Sooo....
Back to the question at hand.. How can Algeri get a decision ? And if he can't what's the point ?
Not take damage or get stunned or knocked down, etc. You know, actually make the opponent miss and not get hurt, while outlanding them.

He can run and throw arm punches all night while getting a shut eye, dropped and stunned and call it the sweet science.
