I didn't think Kelly could keep Bakhram off him for 12 rounds. I thought Kelly would gas mid fight. Congrats to Kelly, he really upped his game. At times late in the fight, he did run, but most of the fight he controlled distance and landed the better shots. Look at each fighter's face at the end. Josh deserved the decision
Does anyone really care who Canelo fights at this point? We know what happens when he steps up to top quality opposition at 168-175. Canelo should fight Benavidez if he wants respect and to remain relevant. If he wants to retire, fight another B/C level fighter and then call it a day. I think Gabe Rosado is available.
Broner has no business in the HOF. He started his career well beating up smaller fighters and won some paper titles but he lacks the discipline to be a top fighter at 140lbs and above and has lost every time he has been matched tough. So no HOF for the Problem.
A lot of good choices in the posts. In terms of body shots, Chino Maidana rolling over on the floor and looking like he was about to cry after a Khan combo downstairs and then getting up and going to war was memorable.
The Lil’G nickname was classic and it did expose Golovkin and his handlers about his bs willingness to fight anyone from 154-168. Ward would have taken Lil’G to school and would have either stopped him or won a wide UD. Lil’G and his peeps knew this...
Wow, that is one of the funniest interviews I’ve seen. Broner, Easter and the interviewer are even trying to slow Spence down about 15 years old, born in 1990, he beat me in 2016....
Don't be mad at Errol just cuz he wants all the smoke.
I’m not mad at Errol, I’m frustrated that these other real welterweights won’t go near him and he’s reduced to fighting lightweights and fighters who are 40+
Weird thread. Anyone who thinks Canelo is dropping the WBA belt to avoid Charlo is crazy. The guy talking in the video needs to change the batteries in his smoke detectors.
I feel bad for Broner. As much I disliked his antics and many of the things he said and did during his career, I don’t like seeing him like this. He needs his family and real friends to be there and support him right now. Definitely don’t want to be in jail with COVID out there. He said he has a fight on Jan 16th, the judge should give him a final warning, let the man earn a living instead of putting him in jail during a pandemic.
I highly recommend that AJ fight Wilder before Povetkin. He will make very good $ for fighting Povetkin but losing to Povetkin will really damage his rep and I think Povetkin is a very dangerous fight for AJ. The Wilder fight may not happen if he fights Povetkin first.
So is Caleb Plant the Devin Haney of 168 now? Delusions of grandeur from these 2.
Good comparison. At least Caleb has at least fought a real opponent whereas Haney has fought Uber drivers, retired fighters and bar tenders. Caleb is delusional if he thinks he’s the guy at 168
Great fight, glad to see the details are finalized and confirmed. I’m going to have to subscribe for DAZN. Tough fight for BJS going into Andrade’s backyard. Given that Andrade has Home field advantage, I see it as a 50-50. This could be a great technical fight between 2 crafty lefties and it will be interesting to see who is the aggressor in this one.
No way HBO puts G vs Andrade on PPV. That one would have to be basic HBO.
Andrade probably thought he was going to make at least a Mill if that fight would have come off, but would have got a shock to learn that the pay was only about 400,000. His enthusiasm would have dwindled on hearing that I think. No way he fights G for that much.
As I said, after the fight was called off, HBO was going to stick with the PPV broadcast and Andrade and others were in the mix. I understand why lil g is fighting Vanes and I also understand why he probably won’t take any meaningful risky fights before the Canelo rematch. It will be interesting to see if he drops his IBF title in order to rematch Canelo (I expect that he will).
People. You have to respect this. You have to.
Horn is taking dangerous fights, calling out top competition, scaring fighters into ducking rematches, scaring other fighters into retirement, and now, puncher's gloves.
Win/Lose/Draw, he deserves respect.
Yes agreed. Crawford will be a very comfortable favorite in this fight but you have to respect Horn for taking the fight as there is not huge money involved in this scrap and this is Bud’s first fight at 147. Yes Crawford was installed as his mandatory but we have seen people get around these. I hope it does get rough in there as opposed to Crawford badly outboxing Horn. Crawford has a mean streak him and is prepared to get in the trenches so hopefully it’s an entertaining fight.
Damn, if only there was a tournament starting soon at 140lbs you could have entered where you would be guaranteed to fight other champions from your weight class (if you win) and get paid a f@@@tonne of money in the process.
We can dream right...
Exactly. How can Steve Kim come up with this title for this article? Ramirez specifically chose to avoid unification fights by not participating in the WBSS.
Is it me, or did Spence seem mildly intoxicated? He doesn’t seem like he’s living the warrior’s life and was a bit apprehensive around Crawford. Crawford seems like a dog who wants the fight. Arum is right- Mikey Garcia is stupid for fighting Spence.
If her team is gonna call out 175 lbers and then run and duck, well that's on them. I'd be down for an Andrade fight doe, the cheating chica would get dominated you can bet on that. :boxing:
Andrade would be a tough fight for Canelo but I think Canelo would be the favourite. Andrade is a crafty, skillful southpaw but he hasn’t really fought anyone despite how long he’s been in the game.
No live gate? This fight would be in Australia, they would be able to sell tickets. Maybe not pac vs horn stadium but they can get 15-20k
That was initially their plan but look at Australia’s approach to COVID and their recent lock downs? Can’t see that fight happening given what’s happened there recently
So Ward with his 50% KO % at 168, punched harder than 175 Kov who has an all-time great KO % at 175? Either you are wrong or Ward was on something? Is that what you're saying. Interesting.
Where are you going with this? Ward staggered Kov and then stopped him later that round. So yes, Ward was punching harder that night. You think Kov was way ahead in that fight before the stoppage but 2 of the 3 judges had Ward ahead on the cards.
As much as I dislike BJS and think Jacobs is a much better human being, BJS is correct in that Jacobs should be the one getting on the plane. In addition, BJS has the better CV, look at this recent wins vs Jacobs’
Size alone won't do it. There are and were bigger HW's who failed miserably.
Wallen isn’t the scrub everyone is making him out to be. He is on the level of Brazeale and Duhoupas (or however you spell his name) and nobody gets on Wilder’s case for fighting these guys. In terms of his size, I was addressing the comment that Fury struggles with small fighters like Wallen.
Charlo should go to California on May 5 for the Lil g-Vanes mismatch and get up in GGG’s face and act a fool to really embarrass Lil g. That’s the only chance he has of fighting him in the near term because lil g’s management is in risk management mode. With the lil g we saw against Jacobs and Canelo juice, I think Charlo has a good chance.
Not sure why so many folks are negative on Catterall. He's not a fan friendly fighter but the guy can box and counterpunch. The way he moves to the right and circles while pumping out that southpaw jab and sharply counters, he is going to be a handful for the champs at 140. He should probably have gotten the win over Taylor in the first fight and been crowned undisputed at 140 already
Jermell looked very sloppy and missed ALOT BADLY but I thought he won 7-5. Jermall scraped by too with either a draw or 7-5 win. Korobov was taking Jermall to school the first half of the fight but seems to continue to have a stamina problem. Korobov fought hard though and will be in the mix and get some good fights. If Korobov has won 7-5 it wouldn’t have been a robbery. Both Charlos seemed to have been humbled today.
The only way to change boxing’s lay-up matchmaking is to change the mindset that it’s not ok for a fighter to lose. If the best fight the best, fighters are going to lose and fans have to accept one or more losses without devaluing a fighter substantially for their future fights.
Lee is a much better opponent than Sullivan and given the stakes would get up for this fight and yes it would be a fight and not a walkover for Jacobs although Jacobs would be favoured. Lee’s southpaw style, height and ackward counter right hook make him dangerous yet he is vulnerable and gets hit and shaken up a lot. Make it happen!
