Floyd wouldn't fight manny in a como and all the flomo's know this. Thus, the only option is to negate anything Manny does... but I'm still wondering why Mayweather is even in the conversation. He's fight twice in 3 years and one of those guys was a lightweight, why is he even used in the same breath as Manny? Because he beat Oscar (which 4 people had already done) or beating Hatton? Maybe it was the 6 or 7th loss he put on Gatti's record, maybe it was loss 13 he gave to Baldomir...
Did I really just compare a guy whose best wins are Gatti, DLH, Hatton and Baldomir with a guy who not only actually FACED but beat Margrito and Cotto. Then stopped on morales, barrera and decimated DLH and Hatton worse than Floyd did... why do we even mention Floyd again?
The versions of DLH and Hatton that Mayweather fought were easily better than the versions that Pac fought. Pac has the better resume but most of his recent fights have come against guys that were past their prime and at catchweights.
you don't have to be worn down or inactive to go downhill. those certainly apply though.

Cotto and Marg both fight much different styles than Mayweather. Assuming JMM's power couldn't hurt either (don't think it's a given that Cotto couldn't be hurt at this stage of his career), of course they'd inflict more damage because of their styles.
if pac can take punches from big welters such as cotto, clottey and margarito, he can certainly take mayweather's punches which are weaker in comparison.

And Floyd will be able to sustain an attack more because he wont be as worn down by the middle-late rounds of the fight from being hit as much as Cotto or Marg

Not saying Mayweather would stop him but the JMM fight was his first in over 2 years and JMM is so tough that I really don't know why you'd have expected a ko. After seeing the way Pac reacted to Marg's body shot in the 6th and how soft and easy to cut his face is I think Floyd could wear him down for a late ko.

I think what you're saying about Floyd is more due to his inactivity than anything. It's not like he's worn down because he doesn't really get hit all that much and he's not super old to the point where he'd be slowing down that much.
I texted a couple people in the 12th and was like "watch this score be A LOT closer than the HBO crew is making it out to be". Lara should have won and I even picked him before the fight so I was rooting for him, but if you rewatch the fight you can kind of see why a certain kind of judge who favors activity and aggressiveness over who does more damage would swing toward PWill.

Just to expand on this, boxing as a sport will be so much better without Arum. All Arum does is consistently cherrypick opponents for his top fighters and give us **** matchups year after year while every other top promoter will actually play ball and put their top fighters in with legit opposition. Arum isn't smart enough to realize that putting his fighters in with bigger names/better opposition would create more interest in the sport in the mainstream media and make his promotion and all his fighters richer, even if they do take a couple losses. Nobody thinks Berto or Pascal are jokes now b/c they lost their belts to top opponents. If that happened consistently then boxing would have a lot more big name recognizable draws besides May and Pac.

Forget even May/Pac but a fight w/ JCCJr would make him more money right now than going up to fight anyone at SMW right now, especially since Ward Bute and Froch are all tied up on Showtime anyways. You just want him to move up so he'd be 20 pounds north of Pac and you wont have to worry about more and more people asking Pac why he doesn't try and make that fight.

:nonono: It's not just the power (which Marquez definitely has), it's the accuracy and the fact that you're getting hit with bunches of three and four hard, flush shots. There's not a lightweight out there good enough to go the distance with Marquez right now, especially not if he takes the fight to him like Rios will.
Rios has too much stamina and too good of a chin, he'd wear JMM down with his combinations and body punching. If anyone is comparing how this fight would go to how the fight with Katsidis went then they're crazy, Rios has a better chin, more power, and better stamina than Katsidis.
