It was very overrated during the Crawford/Spence/Porter/D Garcia/Thurman era. Fighters like Thurman/D Garcia/Porter were bang average in reality, but because Welterweight was the only division Americans dominated , it became the glamour division. That was a fun fight. Looked like Kholmatov was winning by 1 or 2 then that last round was wild. Hi Tim Bradley Ford won 2 rounds max. it was a entertaining fight, but also a one sided fight. Kholmatov was winning 9-2 and then the referee prematurely ended the fight with about 10 seconds to go when he should have gave him a standing count. The Commentary was one of the worst, more biased, ridiculous commentary I've ever heard, it was actual pure comedy some of the lies Bradley and the other guys were saying.

Said this all the time I've been following boxing There's not that many fighters in these weight classes, most countries in the world don't have hardly any boxers that are this small, it's the easiest divisions to win a 'world title'. Terrible for boxing that there's a new weight division every poxy few measly pounds with a new set of 4 world titles. The phrases 'world champ' and'multi weight world champ' is diluted when you're down there. Some of these midget divisions are as shallow as womens boxing! Whereas the jump from light heavyweight to Cruiserweight is huge! Doesn't make sense.

if Munguia was Russian, he'd probably be fighting once every 2 years, hidden away, getting no opportunities for his talent.
