It's true. And it's sad.
It's truly sad. 45 year old Pacquaio being in the news again just says not one in the division is active and bold and adventurous enough to take over the reins.
The heavier divisions don't excite me that much.
154 has a descent list of names but many of them are inactive, but at least it's moving and gaining attention. I just don't know why many of them almost seemed retired. I'd like to see more of Gausha, for instance, the guy who knocked down Tzsyu. They're being kept on the shelf by PBC for no reason. Other platforms should be taking them in their undercards. Ramos vs Gausha could be entertaining. There's Harrison vs Lubin. Harrison vs Ramos, Mendoza vs Harrison, Mendoza vs Gausha, Mendoza vs Ramos, Castano vs any who he hasn't fought, etc. And they're all in the PBC shelves languishing in obscurity.
Dormant since 2015 when FMW tried to get Keef to fight Spence with the exception of Crawford making the move to become undisputed.
Keef himself stopped fighting worthy opposition at that time. Brook was calling him out before he fought Golovkin. There's also Bud and Earl among others. Now we're here and it's stuck in limbo.
Ugas was a big win for Barrios. Big wins don't translate to anything in this sport but longer vacation. Who could he fight next in the PBC island? I can't think of any. Spence is on indefinite leave. There's Kavaliauskas if he's feeling adventurous. Or Stanionis.

Looks like even Mario Barrios has gone inactive. Six months since his fight with Ugas and have yet to make an announcement of his next fight.

Lol it's trash. A sure sign is that if a bum like Barrios is a top 3 guy then the division is garbage

- - Bud with the looks and personality of a rattlesnake and Boots already wore out and don't even have a decent promoter or manager.
Bud is 36 and his sights are pointed on the next division/s. Ennis will be 27 by the time he takes his next fight, and he's expected to start having a hard time making the weight. Nothing is clear in this division's current picture. Inactivity is widespread.
I could understand if fighters are having grueling bouts, but they will have a tune-up....then become inactive...then tune-up or significant match-up....rinse/repeat. It's truly frustrating. It's hard to develop an affinity for a boxer if they don't fight!
Been that way for a long while now. Fans wait patiently only to see them come back in meaningless fights. Then after the fight the waiting begins again for months on end.

Barrios would be a better fight for Boots than inactive Cody, though.
Is the welterweight division dormant?
It's a dormant wasteland and will continue to be so for years to come. The top players are too scared to even take stay-busy fights.
Inactivity kills. Literally. Look at Vernon Forrest. That should be a lesson to everyone. If he fought a couple more times, the WBC wouldn't have to strip him of his belt. He would've gotten the Pacquiao payday if he had been more active. Instead, Pacquiao and Margarito fought for a vacant belt and some trash hoodlum shot and unalived Forrest for the $50 bucks in his wallet.
7+ months has become normal these days. It's becoming longer and longer. Crawford, Spence, Ennis, Adames, Frank Martin, Tank Wahid, Wilder, Lee, Charlo bros, Stanionis, Crowley, etc.

Crawford has the titles, but he seeingly won't be defending them. This division is suffering from consistent inactivity from its contenders. It's easy for them to go 6+ months without a fight.

The era just ended with Crawford-Spence. Give it some time to rebuild. Boots and Stanionis are the best guys out there currently.
An the only reason they fought was Ugas beat Pacquiao and retired him. And than Spence beat Ugas.
If 46 old Pacquiao was still active, both of them would be calling him out rather than fighting each other.
