I couldn't agree more with you. I have old tapes of boxing from HBO back in late 90s and early 00's when all my friends and I would gather to watch the fights; even then we hate Merchant. He was always talking non-sense. He would talk soooo slow that friend made the analogy that Merchant was like one of those dolls that had the string that you would pull on the back from the to speak... every time Larry would pause he'd say "**** someone gonna pull that dudes string again, he brain farted." We've never liked him either.
I remember RJJ, George Foreman and others always getting into it with Merchant, dudes a bad bad commentator, I was pissed when HBO gave him that contract extension.
For me personally, I've been begun to dislike Merchant and Lamplely since Cotto vs Margarito back in 08, I feel they're declining badly ever since.
Maybe for the Sept showdown between Canelo and Kirkland, they can have PWill as a honorary guest/greeter to the fighters. They used to have special guests for big fights a long time ago; I just think this would be a noble gesture from the promoters to have PWill there.

The first initial proposed contract for Wlad vs Haye was a bit much, but that is one of the benefits of being a champion. Anyways... Wlads new deal for a fight in 2010 was as straight forward as you can get; Haye not responding to that is a coward. The champ isn't supposed to be chasing fighters; fighters chase to the champs.

How much were the numbers on his fights with Margarito? 1st Margarito fight was on regular HBO and so was Clottey. I know because I watched them both. Cotto fights in mostly in New York and not Vegas. Pac fought Cotto and so did Floyd and Floyd did more. Canelo is a funny excuse as to why Floyd PPV sold because if he was getting even close to 1MIL buys then Canelo would have been headlined his own fight instead of being on Floyd's under cards. Everything plays a factor in selling fights and to try and single out why Floyd is selling and not doing it to Pacquiao shows favoritism because for the most part, Pac has fought the same fighters as Floyd and didn't do more numbers than Floyd with exception to Marquez because Pac and JMM has had a history. Pac needs a name for him to sell too because Pac only did 700,000 with Clottey.

I don't think this is impossible. Gamboa weighed about what 137, 138lbs. Make the fight at 140s. Gamboa can still weight around 137, be a little lighter for speed and we all know Pac will come in around 149lbs, so make it happen. Why not?
I can't disagree. This is a very rare occurrence. People should be applauding both fighters for making it happen instead of letting it marinate or until someone gets too old. I'm pumped for it. Very much so worth PPV in my opinion.

I agree with the idea that the fighters should always receive certain amount; but the winner can receive more, and if there's a KO/TKO/RTD or etc, then even more money should be awarded. Im tired of hearing money shafting sports.
