I think Fury's mentality when fighting is bulletproof.... no one will make him scared or lack confidence.
This is very true. I can even imagine him clowning directly to the frightening grin face of Sonny Liston during staredown LOL.
I read lots of stories of Dempsey's loaded fists during his Willard fight. But it was more than a century ago and experts somehow explained it was not possible because of the before-fight inspection. Is it possible that in 21st century a before-fight inspection is inferior ?
1. Do you consider him a top 5 ATG Cruiserweight
If you take into account only clean ones (and not cheats like Holyfield) -- yes (provided the very Usyk is clean).
2. Will he be able to make a splash at HW or is he too small?
No. Physically too weak (provided no steroids).
I won't be original but I like very much Adam Kownacki's mentality. He is very nice, smiles all the time (even during staredowns) but when he enters the ring he changes for a hunter, he pushes forward and preys all the time without any fear to noone. And after the fight he is vulnerable and jovial Adam again.
Fury's mentality is great but he is too much of a clown for my taste.

Even better one would be in a straitjacket. Or e.g. Fury being carried while sitting on a flush toilet. Or fury in a straitjacked being carried while sitting on a flush toilet.
Kownacki is nearly there..... he needs to target Dubois or Hergovic or beat a Whyte before any one will consider him a contender.
Got to say he looks good so far...... he just needs to step it up or keep grinding. If he goes up against a Wilder, Joshua or Fury now he gets beaten badly..... he needs more fights against tough guys I think.
As I said yesterday, Kownacki should fight Dubois vs. Joyce winner.
All PED users are stupid, no exception, first of all.
Unfortunately for Poles, Andrzej Golota comes to mind. He had Bowe on his knees TWICE in TWO INDEPENDENT FIGHTS.
One thing is sure -- Joshua won't run away from Kownacki so effectively like he did with Ruiz in the rematch. Moreover, Joshua's chin is weak. Kownacki surely has his chances.
Kownacki vs. Helenius because I am Pole, not because it will be a great battle. A great battle is surely Joyce vs. Dubois. Also Chisora vs. Usyk is interesting for me just to see if Usyk is strong enough for HW which I doubt.
Health first is the motto of any sportsman, IMO. Pro or amateur. But the problem is that not you decide of your own health but a stranger, can be a bribed stranger.
Blame me, but I think bareknuckle 18th century battles were not only more honourable (which is obvious) but also healthier.
And he would do the same to Kownacki.... :boxing:
I see your location is Poland.... I was there in 2016 for a friends wedding and loved it. I only stayed in the south, Katowice...... but I loved the whole experience and am looking forward to going back "kurva"
Kownacki is noone scary, my friend.
I am, kurwa, glad you had a good time in Katowice
Kownacki is a human punching bag which means his undefeated record had an expiration date not much further down than line than Milk. The arrogance in his all offence and zero defense approach was just waiting to be exploited. His soul was crying out to be KO'd.
You are right but you hurt Kownacki with naming him "punching bag" which signifies he only absorbs blows. He can hit and has a great heart as a fighter.
Kownacki needs to go back to the drawing board and add some defense to his style. If he comes back with an Archie Moore style cross-guard, or some Joe Frazier style bob-and-weave stuff, he might be able to restart his career. His team is a problem. I remember watching a post fight interview back when he was supposed to contend against Wilder, and he was asked "but what about Wilder's right hand?" and his trainer responded with "he'll walk through the right hand". That's not what the trainer should say. If he dismisses the loss as a fluke, then he's done. He's never going to be "agile", but guys like Foreman and Liston weren't agile either - they just knew how to defend based on their strengths and weaknesses.
Very true.
I was surprised at first because:
a) I thought Kownacki's chin was superb, top 3 in HW now -- I was wrong;
b) I thought Helenius is too weak physically to harm Kownacki -- I was wrong;
c) I thought Kownacki wil KO Helenius quickier than Washington -- I was wrong.
Later on, after reading many great and OBJECTIVE comments from people who know boxing more than I do, I admit I shouldn't have been so much surprised.
Now, I am curious what Kownacki is going to do. He lost a lot but he gave Polish people HOPE, the first hope from prime Golota times. Noone in Poland will curse him for retiring as we know his style isn't the safest one, to say delicately. I know he is a fan of Lennox Lewis and most probably will try to have the rematch and win it convincingly like Lewis did twice. I cannot blame him as he has a great brave heart, but if he lose again he should definitely retire.
Before he messed up his right arm and wrist against Chisora, Helenius was being touted as possibly the hardest puncher in the HW division. He was out of action for a year recovering from that injury, and in his second come back fight, he broke his right wrist again and was out for another 2 years.
He is way over the hill now, but though his general form has declined drastically, he seems to have regained the ability to throw his right hand with full power, as proved by his devastating one punch KO of the durable Erkan Teper. With the benefit of hind-site, Helenius was probably a bad choice of opponent for an easy to hit guy like Kownacki, especially as Adam seemed to view him as an easy touch.
Did not know these facts about Helenius. Thanks, mate. Adam neglected this man. I said many great things about his humility towards fans and media, but his lack of humility towards opponents finished him.
The punching bag expression covers a fighter with no defense. Punching bags can have heart but their careers are shortened by too many blows to the head.
OK, thanks for an explanation. I thought this expression covers a fighter that only absorbs blows and is unable to fight back.
Huh, Fury was popped for a PED, his excuse was he got it from wild boar meat, he got a 2 year backdated ban for it. He might have also had issues with recreational drugs, but that's not what he was banned for, unless I'm remembering wrong.
So, should I restore Fury as a drug cheater ?
Very few dont my man , very few imo . In any sport over 3/4 the top athletes are likely taking something. Also let's add to the kownacki post that he set an all time record with arreola for punches thrown in a heavyweight fight . It kind of screams epo but iam definately not pointing fingers at anyone . I wont call any fighter a cheater until they are popped .
Kownacki always throw an incredibly number of punches, nothing odd that he set a new record with someone like Arreola. Besides, look at him -- he is the last man who could be accused of anything; even fat Ruiz looks more athletic than Adam.
And suggesting that he might be a cheat because he is a friend of a cheat is just stupid. He refused Joshua because of his pregnant wife.
Correct me if I am wrong here -- Whyte was banned a few years ago for cheating. Wilder was caught with narcotics once.
You put Wilder on the list for possession of marijuana?
Good job exposing that dirty cheater. :lol1:
OK, I did not know it was just that case. Thus, the list looks like this:
1. Fury
2. Joshua
3. Whyte
4. Wilder
5. Ortiz
6. Ruiz
7. Povetkin
8. Parker
9. Hunter
10. Kownacki
It is still 40%...
... yes: back in June 2017... he has been arrested for drugs possession and then convicted...
... though, Wilder and Fury were caught with "recreational drugs", not with PEDs... :)
OK, I am amending also Fury's name which contributes to diminishing the ratio to 30%...
1. Fury
2. Joshua
3. Whyte
4. Wilder
5. Ortiz
6. Ruiz
7. Povetkin
8. Parker
9. Hunter
10. Kownacki
