Interesting to see what you guys believe constitutes a "robbery"....De La Hoya vs. Tito was a close fight which I had Oscar winning by 2 rounds, easily there is room for conflict being so that the fight was a Majority Decision for Tito, bottom line a close fight is not a robbery....As for Leonard vs. Hagler, I had Leonard winning by 1 round and that fight too was a split decision so if I can find 6 or 7 rounds to give to Leonard i'm sure another human being who judges for a profession can do the same......Robbery is Jones vs. Si-Hun (amateurs) and how about Ricardo Williams vs. Abdullaev in the gold medal bout in 2000, maybe 10-15 punches weren't even counted for Williams Jr., professional robbery was Sturm vs. De La Hoya in which Sturm could have won 9 rounds in anybody's view, also in my opinion I believe that Whitaker vs. De La Hoya was highway robbery but that was aided by the dumbest WBC rule in the history of sports rule where the fighter who is uncut after an accidental headbutt gets a point taken away.
Judges look more at aggressiveness not compubox stats. Taylor was being the aggressor of the 2 till about the 10th round when he started tiring.
hmmmmm.....so Foreman was beating Ali, and Jirov was beating Toney right?.....they were the "aggressors"
i know dis is ::offtopic:: but anybody know of a site or have info on a few fighters measurements?....im jus curious as to know where i stand in comparison as far as biceps, waist, forearms etc. go
James Toney got da best chin if u ask me, he gets hit on occasions and still grits it out (even though he rolls wit a lotta punches) i never seen him hurt and dude been fightin for well over a decade.
he took a wicked uppercut that he didnt see and was wobbled but didnt go down. and in the sig he took 2 of tito's signature left hooks right on the side of the head, and what did mayo do he danced :boxing:
so being able to only take punches dat u see equals having a great chin?...wayne mccullough always gets hit wit uppercuts and hooks dat he never sees but he was never even stunned for more than 2 seconds
Well, true. But his punches were forgotten by the judges by Taylor's combos. But from the 6th on, Bernard was touching Taylor and tying him up or smothering him with body shots.
dawg, watch ery single taylor combo....maybe 2 punches landed out of ery single combo he threw, and i dont mean 2 punches on each combo, i mean 2 punches combined
OK you just proved your knowledge of boxing, you also proved that your a nut-hugger. If you think Hopkins is a clean fighter, you just proved to everyone how much you really know. end of story.
dude, im referrin to da fight dat took place on 7-16-05.....last time hopkins stopped punchin before da ref said "break" he ended up on his back, u a nuthugger since u totally throwin out all possibility dat it even was a close fight, even da die hard taylor fans believe da fight was at least close.....get off dikks man and dont ever watch boxing again in ya life, and throw yaself in front of traffic wit a "I Love Taylor" t shirt on...pu$$y
I think you should stop the nut-hugging of Hopkins. Another thing Hopkins was holding & hitting you probably score those cheap fouls for Hopkins. Like I said if anyone thinks that Borekins won the fight, I have no respect for those people. I'm pretty sure my knowledge of boxing is better then yours.
dude....becuz i believe hopkins won da fight im "nuthuggin"?, wow.....and as for ya knowledge on boxing bein better than mine, i doubt it and even it happens to be (which i doubt) ya observing on boxing definitely aint, cheap fouls=taylor throwing a combination after da ref said stop to end da 2nd or 3rd round, cheap fouls dont=bernard punching until da ref says stop; punching back when taylor hits while holding
Taylor did give Bernard trouble, as it took him 6 rounds to adjust to his reach and speed. I'm not here to debate but to analyse the result. Hopkins knows he's doesn't have the stamina for a 12 round all offensive fight. Plus he has to adjust to a very dangerous opponent like Taylor. 6 rounds it took before Bernard began to regularly touch Taylor. He turned it up from the 6th. But IMO, many of the shots Taylor threw (and many were misses) were countered by very very quick punches by Hopkins which, understandably, went unnoticed by the judges and viewers. I had to click back a few times to view his counters.
A rematch is definitely called for.
hopkins was touchin taylor on da regular since da 4th round
I've watched the fight 3 times already , if you think Hopkins won 8 rounds, then you really are on crack. Hopkins didn't win one round until the 10th. First 9 rounds, Taylor won 7 & I had the other 2 draw. Hopkins won the last 3 rounds & that is it. All Hopkins did was running around like a little pussy that he is, he was dirty & he didn't fight like a man. The only time Hopkins grew some balls was when Taylor ran out of gas because he was losing alot of blood. Like I said Taylor will learn from this fight & he will be better in the rematch & knock out that dirty crying bitch for good.
so hopkins aint win dat 5th round decisively?....when he tagged taylor wit like 5 flush right hands, 2 of them in succession while bobbin and weavin erything jermain threw?.......dude u really should step ya observance game up
Slipx, You are the biggest nut-hugger I've ever seen. Like I said either you have to be blind to say Hopkins won or an asslicker like yourself. Hopkins didn't even win a round in the first 9 rounds. A few of the first 9 rounds could've been a draw at best. Hopkins won the last 3 rounds. Taylor won atleast 7 rounds. Hopkins is a dirty fighter, he was getting away with holding hitting, He was a pussy for the first 9 rounds, running around the ring like a little pussy. Taylor was cut in lost alot of blood, that is the #1 reason Taylor ran out of gas. Hopkins didn't have the ball to brawl with a fresh Taylor in first half of the fight. Like I said if Hopkins brawls with Taylor in the rematch, Hopkins will get knocked out silly.
dude, never watch boxin again in ya life and get off dat dope
Go check your eyes, I think you need some eye glasses. I think you should stay away from the crack. You actually think Hopkins won. So your the crackhead, not me.
honestly dude, watch da fight again next saturday...observe how many times hopkins countered taylor knockin him off balanced, observe how many wingin shots taylor missed and flailed across da ring....for goodness sake taylor missed a punch and fell to da ground in 1 of da rounds, HAHAHA..............how is dis fight even close let alone dominated by taylor?.....i could argue dat hopkins won 8 fukkin rounds
Not to mention that he now takes punches 40 pounds north of his natural weight and doesn't even flinch.
he only flinches to clown, lol....JT gotta be da most entertaining prize fighter in da game, he's like a more aggressive version of Bernard when it comes to da antics
McCullough has always had the best chin in boxing....since his fight with Morales.
na, James Toney...mccullough got a chin of iron but he has been slightly stunned on occasions, JT never even been seriously hurt at all and he took hard shots from some serious middleweights in his day
come on man tito threw his best shots for 8 rounds any other guy couldnt last for that long
he hurt mayorga in da first round, even in dat signature if u watch da fight mayorga was wobbled after da third shot dat he took wit his hands down, dats y he stopped posing....and at da end of da round tito had him on his heels
Oh by the way... why hasn't anyone mentioned the judge who scored it 8-4 hopkins. We hear about the judge who scored it for Taylor in the 12th round, but HOW IN THE WORLD COULD HOPKINS HAVE WON 8 ROUNDS?!?!
not out of the question, i could very well argue that Hopkins won 4 of the first 8 rounds.....and its pretty obvious that he swept the last 4.....hmmmmmm 4+4=8
Vitali Klitszcho. Neva been downed!
also never been hit.....well there was this 1 time though by a guy by the name of Lennox Claudius Lewis who apparently tore his face open and damn near put him to sleep with an uppercut.....other than that though, his chin is flawless (when not punched)
I don't think Morales can stand and take shots like McCullough can. Morales had a lot of heart to compensate for a "slightly above average" chin.
yeah, i love watchin el terrible'....as gritty as they come, very competitive, if u hurt him he gonna go out of his way to show u dat he aint hurt and then hurt u
anybody dat believes taylor wasnt stunned or hurt by those late round punches have very little boxing knowledge....he was hit by a punch and immediately went to the ropes, a sign that most young fighters are hurt...his feet went flat on the ground and his legs squared up...how much more evidence do u need??? a knockdown?
If you haven't even see the fight, so what the fuck you're giving your opinion on the fight. Hopkins didn't win a round until the 10th, Hopkins won the last 3 rounds, Taylor won 7 rounds & 2 rounds was a draw. Hopkins was running away from Taylor for most of the fight. Like I said it last night, if any person saw the fight, thinks that Hopkins won the fight is either completely blind or an Hopkins asslicker.
or how about they are a competant boxing observer, hopkins won 7 rounds in my book....throwing punches doesnt mean u are scoring.
Exactly. Defense is a part of the sport too and some judges judge also on defense. Just b/c someone is busier doesnt mean they are winning the round, especially if alot of the punches are missing and hitting air. If anything most of the rounds preceding the tenth were pretty much even.
i agree....i think the mass boxing public were forgetting about Bernard and were hung up on Jermain Taylor, they happened to forget that bernard's known for rolling with punches and picking them off much like he did against taylor
James Toney and Erik Morales. Neither man has really legitimately been down in their career.
Morales got tagged good though by Chavez, hardly nothing compared to da numba of wars he been in...::thumbs up::
Well McCullough wasn't fighting Rafael Marquez or anything...but good chin...
hmmmm he did however fight Morales and Hamed in their punching primes and stayed on his feet.
Do you really believe that Hopkins lost the 12 round? Are the judges nuthuggers too? Coz it was a pretty close fight at the end of the night. Taylor owned the first half but Bernard took the second but with dominance.
i ont even think taylor owned any part of da fight.....i mean if u watch it u'll see taylor will throw 5 missin wild punches and bernard would sit back and tag him wit a solid right hand, dat was da story of da first half.......i ont see where taylor "dominated" da fight
My view on that tszyu/judah fight was that it went jus as i predicted. U may look at it and say that tszyu landed 1 good shot, but on the contrary, Tszyu was beginning to dictate the pace. Judah had a good first round, which is nothing unheard of for Tszyu opponents (hurtado, leija, mitchell, etc.)...I predicted that tszyu would stun and stop judah early-middle rounds, it went much as i predicted just a tad earlier...Tszyu is/was a seasoned veteran against a brash guy who is gifted, nothing he hasnt seen before...My point is that all thoughts of that being anything lucky is absurd, in 2001 Tszyu woulda beat judah 99 times out of 100, contrast of styles..much like Barkley and Hearns....................As for a rematch, i'd give Tszyu the edge at either 140 or 147 simply becuz judah has shown that he is vulnerable to solid welterweights as he struggled against Pineda (old old man who tito fought over 10 years ago) and against Spinks the first fight...he happened to do good against spinks in the rematch and people think he is a solid welterweight, incorrect...Judah is still the same guy carrying the same weight and i'd pick Tszyu by stoppage mid-late simply becuz judah jus gets lacksadasical in serious situations....bottom line, jus cuz u weigh 200 lbs. ont make u a heavyweight boxer
Don't dismiss right away, and think about it.
What you should do is find some hard gum, or special rubber and chew it for select hours a day. The harder the object to chew the stronger your jaw will become. Movement from inside your mouth against tough objects will strengthen it.
A theory that I liked to share.
Actually thats probably the biggest misconception...many believe that its the chin itself, but its more the neck than anything, Fighters are usually knocked out not becuz of the impact on the chin, but the force in which the head is jerked causing temporary unconsciousness or loss of equilibrium...its all about keeping the chin down and having strong neck control, like Mercer.
