Absolutely ridiculous this fight.
The size difference was crazy but Gamboa pulled it out for the first rounds.
I think the turning point was body work but mainly the big exchange....he couldn't stay sharp & it zapped his legs.
Either fight smarter or drop division .
Respect!!
I actually can speak on it because I Had A partially torn meniscus before in college (thats how i know most just don't have a clue of what you are talking about) & I've went to medical school. those so called "symptoms" that you described are literally A week after surgery. people with partially torn meniscus are literally back on the field within 3 to 4 weeks (and i am dead serious) A meniscus also depends on where you tore it and how severe it is. if it's severe they'll have to cut the flap off. (which would keep you out for a while) but if it's partial that literally only requires a clean up. (they go in suck a few tiny little fragments away) stitch you back up and you're done.........
NEW YORK -- After the ninth round, Sergio Martinez came back to his corner, the water from the cutman's sponge washing the blood from cuts over both eyes. His trainer grabbed him and screamed.
"Your knees are not working, champion," Pablo Sarmiento told him in Spanish. "They are not working."
Who's arguing I'm calm as a person could be but I apologize I should respect my elders
It's ok i accept your apology old man, I'll let you get back to telling war stories of you in the kitchen in afghanistan and the time you almost burnt a burger.
Hey bro don't disrespect the uniform and I did apologize you're entitle to your opinion as I am to mine but please relax with that I lost a lot good friends over there
I can respect that I apologise man, no need for me to step the mark!
I know there are a lot of you fools that made some very bold and stupid predictions.
A bold prediction would be for Cotto to move up to middeweight & make the current champion who has a size, speed and weight advantage retire in his corner.
Just for your information most of the boxing world expected a Martinez win.
Not that it matters :)
To beat a cherry picking coward you gotta act like one...
Mayweather is gonna duck Cotto now :rofl:
Cotto would be a cherry pick hahaha #easywork
Guys stop it, Martinez was in perfect shape for this fight. Couldn't you see how he moved around the ring like a butterfly, perfect balance and crisp bunches coming from his legs?
Cotto under Roach just transformed into another animal. He is invincible, destroying a prime lineal middleweight champ with ease, Mayweather will never fight him again. Team Golovkin already have planned to move up in weight after the Geale fight to dodge the Pureto Rican BEAST Cotto.
You want proof? I met Martinez before the fight and got this picture and asked him how his legs are.

Now that you put it like that....it all makes sense!! :la:
So by your own admission he was fine? Is it so hard to understand that the initial punch Cotto landed was on his head and not his knees? Sergio was wobbled like 3 times in the 1st round. He got caught cold by someone who he thought couldnt hurt him and i dont think he was mentally prepared for that. He was never gonna be able to get away from that lefthook anyway, which most likely gave him that concussion.
At the end of the day his trainer and doctor saw nothing wrong and Maravilla isnt making excuses so people should stop too.
This just shows your lack of understanding of mechanics, if your legs can't support you even if its a kid pushing you......you're going down.
Mayweather: "COTTO made me want to RETIRE. Had to shower 4 TIMES to get BLOOD OFF."
not as easy as u think brahh. LOL
I agree he was definitely tough for Mayweather, I was responding to stupid comments with the same level of comment.
Lol now you want me to have a serious discussion with a retarded conspiracy theorist. You think people are going to have a serious discussion with idiots who are making complete fools of themselves by making ridiculous excuses, giving no credit and completely dismissing what Cotto accomplished.
Keep jerking bobpohe or whatever your boyfriend is called.
"conspiracy theorist" ...bahaha
Also just so you know, this gay circle you keep speaking of is getting very big with all the new members!
I guess I missed the part he came to the ring with a walker, an oxygen tank and Cotto landing those brutal left hooks to the knees.
But don't mind me just keep jerking away.
You don't get much knowledge from these green posters these days huh....
You did it again. Contradicted your self.
Whats funny is you thought Martinez Was Shot before the fight and you still picked him to beat Cotto. Like most experts and most fans thought.
No he didn't.
In idiot terms so you understand.
He thought Martinez was 100%, but could possibly be 80%. When Martinez entered the ring he was actually 40%.
Sergio Martinez was never that good of a boxer. He was athletic enough to always find a way to have his hand raised at the end of the night. When you are that kind of a fighter, and you have over a year off, you have nothing to rely on to help you.
At the end of the day, the thing you have to realize like I said before in the sport of boxing is this...Miguel Cotto is a hell of a fighter and we can't take anything away from him because Sergio signed on the dotted line.
Sergio agreed to the fight bad knee, hand, age, time off....whatever. He could have came back and fought a "tune-up" but I don't think there was a legitimate opponent out there that he would have beaten that night.
Sergio isn't making any excuses, why the f is everyone else?
Besides all that, I think Miguel looked to have been in good shape, he was bouncing on his toes...Miguel Cotto showed up to win the middleweight title and he did that, regardless of the cirumstances. He got the job done, he did was he was supposed to.
It's up to Sergio to get himself ready to defend his title, which he didn't do.
Floyd is that you !!!
Lol, what a bunch of losers, if it makes you happy just keep the circle jerk going hopefully you'll all feel better.
Don't cry for meeeeeee porto riiiiiiiicooooo
LOL seems like the red really annoys you.
I don't take retards like you seriously, I just clown you.
Yeh you've sure told me constantly talking about gay parties.
I feel intellectually destroyed now due to your vast wisdom of the sport & dissection of the situation.
Someone ban this fool,my bet is your most likely chose Martinez to win..you think Cotto and Roach had a crystal ball and knew when they landed that sharp punches in the first round Martinez would run so hard he blew his mending knee
To call Miguel a cherry picker is absurd
Who is your favorite fighter btw?
June 5, 2014
Trainer Freddie Roach said Sergio Martinez is "in over his head on this one," was "ruined" by Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and "has nothing left" heading into Saturday's bout against three-division titlist Miguel Cotto, against whom the 39-year-old Argentine will defend his RING and WBC middleweight championships at Madison Square Garden in New York on HBO Pay-Per-View.
AWKWARD
You're the one that is butt hurt. Who cares if i got a pick wrong. I didnt put any money on the fight. Put i did pay for the ppv so at the very least i expect is not to see cotto fighting a god damn cripple.
Hahaha the god damn truth
Yeah but Martinezs knee was absolutely fine for the Cotto fight. Martinez was in the shape of his life. It was Cottos godlike power, speed and skill that won him the fight.
hahahaha THIS
Yes forget about receiving a severe blow to the head 3-4 times in 2 minutes which hurt you. That obviously had nothing to do with it. The brain doesnt mis-fire at all in those situations. That knee-buckle in the 9th round wasnt because of a punch either. It was just his knees. It just never happens in Boxing where you lose your legs from severe blows.
Severe
Lmao
Look at when Chavez had him doing the chicken dance!
Cotto's blows didn't effect him in that way, because they didn't hurt him that much.
I'm done....
Too bad this argument was shot down as well when somebody posted a dozen post fight interviews where Sergio makes excuses.
You guys really have nothing left. No wonder the frustration.
Listen you have your opinion I have mine, it's not going to change.
So let's just see how far Cotto gets.
My predictions.
Canelo - cotto win
Mayweather - cotto loss
GGG - cotto loss
what are yours?
These are signs of a torn meniscus and are not relevant to the situation because Sergio already had his surgery and has healed. So what your saying here is that the surgery did absolutely nothing? In boxing if you get hit flush with a power shot your legs tend to buckle or "wobble", correct?
I know lot's of people that have surgery and relapse.
If you knew anything about injuries like this you would know this.
My friend had surgery on his ankle at 21, had a year out for the surgery and recovery. Went into a tackle and it snapped straight away. He had the surgery again at 23 and thankfully it's ok again.
Surgery isn't magic my friend.
