Definitely needs a set-up in competition. Johnson didn't even throw a punch hardly in that fight. His opponents have been worse than Wilder's early ones..
Analogous to Wilder-Harrison, IMO. A supposed "step-up" fight that proved to be otherwise...
Joshua working on his humblebragging skills.
Exactly. This is supposed to be his way of saying that he's hard on himself and a dedicated athelete, but considering that the fight was utterly non-competitive, it just sounds dumb.
You can't just outbox drunken barroom brawlers like Joe Frazier and be called a professional boxer for it anymore, you have to actually have some skill nowadays.
Point taken, but that's totally unfair to Smokin Joe. Pick a different 70s name - preferably a white guy - and I'll probably agree...
Wilder needs to be committed and not think he's a superstar and overlook opponents. Potential is there, not so sure of the focus and effort is.
Really good summary, actually. It's ok to talk sh:te, but he can't be buying into his own hype.
Doesn't really matter.
He could wear reinforced steel gloves, he's still getting knocked out early.
If it really doesn't matter, then why did Team Wlad insist that Fury wear Paffens?
“But this is what happens when you are dealing with amateurs.”
No, this is what happens when a$$h0les like you abuse your position as champion to make your challenger wear your brand of gloves.
Haye would have flattened Fury in a couple of rounds. I don't even think it would have been remotely competitive.
But that would've been so boring and predictable, so Haye retired instead.
Joshua will also blasts him out in a few rounds. Far better fighter with better speed, much more power and more control.
What do you base that on? The Cornish fight? Prior to the grand coronation, let's first see how AJ does against an opponent who hits back.
I'd say Joshua's ammy career keeps him and Hughie level, but there's no doubt that Rudenko is better than anyone on Joshua's pro resumé.
Hughie was World Amateur Champion, so AJ's ammy pedigree doesn't necessarily level the two at this stage, IMO. Their ammy pedigree is comparable but, compared to Hughie, AJ has beaten exactly NO ONE to date. It's time that AJ and his handlers - and others of like mind - realize that running your newbie through 1st-round KOs against nobodies does the fighter an extreme disservice. I don't dislike AJ but, to date, he's all hype, and he's in danger of being exposed, because he's fought so few rounds as a professional. Peter Fury has it right: at this stage, it's about getting rounds, not easy KOs.
I predict that Team Fury roll a chunk of title fight income into getting Hughie a true step-up fight. As good as I think he is, he hasn't generated enough buzz to be offered big fights (Wilder rumors aside), so Peter is going to have to pay for one.
why in the world would espn and fox not want to host another 100 million fight between fury and wilder especially now with this glove gate story line
Nobody cares enough about “glovegate” to want to see Fury outclass Wilder for a third time.
Fury is hopeless. He has been badly wobbled in a few fights against nobodies. He nearly knocked himself out once... When he fights a live opponent he will get knocked out.
(Sigh)
Fury has never been "badly wobbled". You can get knocked on your @$$ without being "wobbled". You can also get knocked on you @$$ without being "chinny". Wlad has been KTFO by a few less-than-supermen; so what? It's HW boxing. Pretty much every HW is going to be rocked or knocked down at some point, even by less esteemed opposition. That doesn't make them all bums. Fury may be a jack@$$ personally, and he may not have a chiseled physique, but he's a giant of a man with a decent skillset, and he can't be taken lightly. Guaranteed: Wlad doesn't take him lightly. Wlad's too smart for that; much smarter than most of you haters.
Can't believe that Showtime accepts this crap fight......
Seriously. They must be banking on the idea that there's a huge appetite among casual fans to see another 1-punch KO.
he agve reasons why he said that to joe frazier and it was bc joe frazier would parade black womben around half naked and Muhammad Ali didnt like the way he treated Black Womben. but of course you wouldnt know that bc you're an outsider looking in.
dont ever jump into topics that you dont qualify for. ASSuming
isn't a good look
That's weak, mate. I don't have to be black to have a right to be offended by the dehumanising bigot that occasionally borrowed Ali's mouth. Joe Frazier was a MAN. He wasn't an ape. He wasn't a dog. And I don't really think he was an Uncle Tom, although that's something we can disagree on.
My opinion, which (pardon me) I am entitled to, is that like Ali, Tyson Fury spews a lot of silliness for the shock value, and that it's sometimes difficult to decipher what's sincerely meant and what isn't. And I think that's what Spike Lee meant when he said that he regretted being duped by Ali into believing that Joe Frazier was somehow "not a black man".
What? why?
He's been terrible since the LSC rematch and he just got jobbed by face first bumusher
Exactly. You’d call out LSC after you beat Warrington convincingly, but that didn’t happen. This hurts Carl’s credibility.
Shame he couldn’t have pulled his finger out and looked at other fights sooner, prevent his fighter going over a year of inactivity!
No kidding. Every else seems to be finding ways to stay active.

"I know from personal experience that Povetkin is very good - although I was not in shape when we fought..."
What, did you just forget to train? When you leave your pencil at home, you're not going to pass the test, schoolboy.
Fury couldn't avoid that overhand right if his life depended on it seems to be his main weakness as a fighter.
Back then, yes. He has since learned to use his size better and keep smaller fighters at the end of a jab. Chisora is all about the overhand right, and he never got it close to Fury in the second fight.
Povetkin wins. Although I do not like and trust these who were on drugs, IMO Povetkin is simply a better boxer.
Whyte served his own drugs ban a few years ago, so that balances things a bit, I guess.
No one talking about that illegal punch in back of the head..
Wilder ducked into it, the same as Fury did in R9 of the first fight. Can’t help it when you’re aiming for the guy’s face and he ducks his head down as the fist makes impact.
There were actual rabbit punches thrown for sure, but almost entirely in the clinches, not during that KD.
