KKK was looking for a way out and he got it. All that bravado before the second fight was just mental masturbation for his mentally weak fans who likes to swallow that type of manjuice.
What are you talking about?
This is what Kovalev should have done to Ward in those instances, fight fire with fire, had he got a DQ, it would have been better than getting a bull**** stoppage from Ward.
I like GGG a lot a lot but there's about 10 other Middleweights I would put in front of him at the moment, after the smoke clears with the Canelo fight we can start talking something.
Also obvious troll thread.
Stiverne isn't better than any of those guys you mentioned. I'm pretty sure if that was Vitali in there that Stiverne wouldn't have seen the final round.
If Hearns were around right now he would be the most feared guy in boxing. Mayweather, Pac, Canelo, Lara and the rest of the landscape at 47/54 wouldn't be able to contend with the power or the skill.
I think the main problem with weight is that boxers rehydrate too much after weigh in. Someone like Canelo fighting 140 pounders would be unfair.
Under this system Canelo wouldn't be fighting 140lb'ers. I would propose like another poster mentioned, a rehydration clause, this way it keeps the fighters honest and a move even playing field.
And as Floyd has shown (I don't like the ******* by the way) that your skill level will be the determining factor in winning a fight not your weight.
Fights will not be contested where there is a 10-12lb difference between the fighters, depending on what weight class. This is for safety.
I take it that you've never thrown fists with somebody skilled and 20lbs heavier than you. It's a huge difference once you put on fight gloves.......... Rockin':boxing:
I have and while it does indeed stink to get hit by someone heavier than you, you can offset that with your skill . Now when I laid out the ranges for each weight class, keep in mind said fighters can adjust their weight accordingly within each weight class so this levels the playing field to be more fair. Also like people have been mentioning here, the rehydration aspect is crucial here so that certain fighters (Canelo comes to mind) don't blow up 20lbs from the weigh in date.
Sven Ottke, Joe Calzaghe for the most part before he moved up, a couple of others as well.
I dunno, I'm just in favor for less divisions in general and less belts as well but thats not gonna happen.
I have Tito winning at both weights although at 147 Mosley definitely has a chance at beating him but Shane can be loured into a fight and I don't think even his roided out chin can withstand those bombs for long.
Lightheavy is one of the better weight classes for sure, I mean, it has 3 Fighter of the year boxers.
Kovalev FOTY 2014
Ward FOTY 2011
Stevenson FOTY 2013
I didn't even realize this until now.
I was just poking you... I have a strong belief that Smith Jr doesn't belong there... always had ... always will... :)
Haha, I mean he is crude but that power is no joke. He's either going to get boxed up/KO'd or hes gonna blast someone out.
Prob won't happen but kind of hope WBSS does LHW next. This division just begs for a shakeup
That would be glorious but the good luck getting the top three to negotiate that deal, if we can get a Stevenson/Ward or Kovalev/Stevenson match up out of it, well hot damn.
I think 175 is one of the more interesting divisions right now. Its got 2 P4P discussed guys about to go into their 2nd fight + 3 or 4 super solid guys to touch in the top ten who I think you can make all sorts of arguments on who beats who, but more importantly should be engaging in some fun fights in the next 6-18 months to decide who's gonna be the next guy running the division after Ward, Kovalev & even the nearly irrelevant Stevenson are all gone.
Personally my money is on Beterbiev, but his inactivity + injury have me feeling less confident about him as of late. Plus he's not exactly a spring chicken himself so who knows how long he'll be on top if he gets to the top.
And people love to sh^t on Joe Smith, but he's the Rudy of the division for me & a mfer I just can't root against & I feel like he'll surprise a top ten guy or two in his future who thinks he's a soft touch just waiting to take a L for a nice payday.
Great assessment.
Do you think Ward is going to retire?
I saw you mentioned that you do not think Ward is going to stick around.
I just get that feeling from him but I could be very wrong of course.
Uppercut at close range:A lot of fighters back in the day used to let their uppercut go with their lead hand. Manny Steward fighters used to use this technique amazingly as did Buster Douglas when he KO'd Tyson.
Fighting out of the Clinch: Monzon-Benvenuti 2, you can see Benvenuti was trying to clinch to stuff Monzon's attack but Monzon bladed his body so that he would rip right hands to Benvenuti's body.
Doubling up on left hooks.
