I dont have a problem with these guys getting in....the HOF let in Vinnie Paz. I do think Golovkin's rep was built on less than great competition, compare his opposition to Hagler's, but he should still get in.
Love hearing "champions" say Y
You didn't fight a champion, you didn't beat one...you have a belt...
So do I....
We don't have 12 World champions....we have some outstanding boxers...
Lets be happy with that.
Im 47, Roy's age, and have been watching boxing since I was 13, consistently....I don't think I have ever seen a fighter tarnish his legacy the way Roy has....Who knows how he'd be thought of if he'd quit after Ruiz...he is pretty much the only GOAT level fighter who I worry might actually die in there...Just to those who think Im criticizing Roy unfairly, I think Roy would have beaten pretty much everyone in history from 160 to 175
how to find Boxnation
Im not sure if this post will be pulled, but if you goto telegrande dot com, punch in the name of the fight you are looking for and you will find it...don't download and you will be fine
Easy question my friend..
For me, the most aesthetically pleasing, most graceful knockout was easily Mike McCallum's knockout of Don Curry...
But there have been many more brutal
Great insight, I agree that Nunn's speed, southpaw stance, and athleticism (not to mention underrated power - haven't checked Boxrec, but the only fighters Frank Tate and Kalambay lost to by KO were Nunn - would have bested Roy over 12 by decision.
Though if RJJ won in one that wouldn't surprise me either.
Cheers to Uncle Pauly for coming up with this matchup, its provoked some great responses
I first started getting into boxing in 83, started collecting the magazines, KO was great, the Ring was great until 1988, then it went off the tracks for a few years. Britain's Boxing News was thee authority, respected on both sides of the Atlantic.
Not sure where I was going with this, but when I saw your reference to KO mag it brought back memories.
I think this one could get ugly, Kelly didnt look great, technically or otherwise at 168 against Bernard...I know BHop and Ward are different guys, but my gut tells me this one is just for Pavlik to cash out....he's demonstrated power in the past against Taylor and Mendoza, but lets face it, these guys aren't exactly Marvin Hagler in the chin department.
Not saying it is totally out of Pavlik's reach, but his out of the ring problems dont inspire confidence. I dont think he could beat Froch, and even his beating Yusuf Mack is questionable. Does anyone think he would be competitive against Kessler, Bika?
Im also not saying I think Ward is the heir apparent to Floyd or Pac, I would be on Donaire.
Still, an upset would shake things up a little...
Ward by wide decision or easy stoppage.
If Im wrong I will say I was just kidding
Im also from the UK, born there at least, and in retrospect I was suspicious about the Cotto win. Apparently the discovered wraps prior to the Mosley fight appeared to have been used before. I dont buy his story about not knowing.
To doctor your gloves is THE worst thing you can do. Beneath contempt. L Armstrong cheated, but noone would have died from what he did.
For him to have only been suspended for a year was also disgraceful.
Not Mexican,(in fact would luv JMM to win convincingly tonite), not PRan...
Not a terrible choice, a little sooner than expected, considering the beating he took.
My 2024 wasnt anything to brag about, but it was golden compared to Tim. He should have been pulled out of the Fundora fight, his corner were awful...I remember Dan Raphael going on about what guts he and his corner showed in continuing....if they had pulled him out, or not taken the fight to begin with (switching at short notice from KT) no one would remember now.
They should have pulled him from the Murza fight at the end of the 2nd as well.
I remember watching the Ward KO on the undercard of another big fight which I can't remember...Ward was just getting shellacked, then it was over. The Virgil Hill KO sounds like a gunshot.
Roy of that era would have beaten anyone in history up to heavy.
For one of the weirdest kos you will ever see, look at Lusito Espinoza-Kaokor Galaxy on yt...i think it came from a body shot.
The "Monster" is turning out to be the next GGG
Feasting off of the least of them all.
He hasnt fought the competition of Usyk, Canelo, or even Crawford, now BAM, and even guys with losses, like AJ...this has been going on a bit.
Taylor has had a really long pro and amateur career, isnt young, and is supposedly moving up in weight.
I really never heard that much about him being weight drained though.
At WW he is even less of a puncher, wont be blindingly fast.
Unofficially, he lost his last two fights, not by a point either
I am wrong alot, but I dont thing the move up will end well.
I dont get what the point of this fucking article is....that the writer likes chicks with dicks? What does he/she have to do with Jarrell Miller? Where is the fucking connection here?
If DD's team can get him a shot, then he might as well take it.
If he wins great.
Tbh, if I thought he was a great long-term prospect, I might think differently.
But, it is really tough to envision him getting a whole lot further.
He hasnt fought anyone since JJ and there havent been any real rumblings of him against anyone in the top 10.
This has the feel of a cash out, or hope for the best situation.
Usyk is easily #1 p4p fighter in world. I don't care about who is after that. if you ain't first you're last..
Only if you go by amateur pedigree, accomplishments, and both willingness and a history of fighting the best in two legit division.
What knowledge? You were a stepping stone, complained after getting beat, and happened to land 1 lucky punch which extended your career 2-3 fights when you didn't really deserve it.
Kind of cold there.
Gabe isnt on the way to the HOF, but he seems like a great guy who always gave his best.
Glad to hear he is quitting though, hope he has success in the future.
British contender Ashley Theophane is hitting back at WBA junior welterweight champion Adrien 'The Problem' Broner.
Theophane (39-6-1, 11KOs) took offense after Broner (31-2, 23KOs) promised to 'beat the sh*t' out of him and branded him as an 'easy money' fight.
Broner loves playing the role of a villain, which is why Theophane says he's been receiving a lot of support from fans, and people in the industry, who want to see him unseat 'The Problem' from his championship throne.

Broner is a world-class fighter, not that nice as a person, apparently, but he is a better fighter than Theophane, who is not and has never been a contender, nothing else to say
Sad about Williams, a few years back he admitted his punch resistance was gone - A direct quoute - yet still around...a ring death waiting to happen...and if its true that they are considering him for Price, Price and his team should be ashamed of themselves...hopefully it isnt
Just because one just lost, doesn't me he can't be one. If you look at the original lot, someone lost the first fight there too. The difference is no one was talking about 4 king back then. That's because it can only be done on hindsight. That's why your correct that it is crap, and we're all sick of this talk. But maybe someday we'll have something to talk about. But again, hindsight will provide the answers, not crystal balls. And it might not have any of these supposed kings involved.
I dont mean to write off Teo because of the one loss, it is more that they, apart from Loma, dont seem that interested in each other I do think Teo should stay away from Josh Taylor, though.
Damn Joel Julio's still fighting?? I remember when he was being groomed as the next big star until Puerto Rico's Carlos Quintana ruined those plans.
lol, when I saw his name I thought that can't be him..
