I'd like to see a rematch as well... in London. Did Haye get beat? YES Did he exceed most people's expectations? I believe so. Most didn''t think he'd make through 12 rds.
I respectfully disagree completely. It seems to me like the majority of Boxing scene are in agreement that Cotto is not as good as Pacman & Floyd & a rematch even at 154 would be futile correct??If that's the case then IMO there is absolutely no reason under the sun that Cotto should be the 1 to fight Martinez. If anyone should fight Martinez,it should be Floyd or Pacman, who are considered greater than Cotto. It really is simple.Cotto can't beat Pacman at jr middleweight,Pacman is greater, why would I want to see Cotto fight Martinez then??Why not the greater Pacman??Or the greater Floyd, who fight fans seem so convinced beat Cotto??
Why??? LOL
Man some of you people live in fantasy land. Martinez vs Cotto wouldn't be fair, it would be like watching a child get beaten up by a grow man.
I never want to see that happen because I don't want to see cotto get hurt. Margarito, Cotto and Chavez Jr should run the other way if they even hear the word "Martinez".
Martinez vs. Pac/Floyd seems highly improbable, akin to "fantasy land". I do believe that Cotto would jump at the opportunity, win/lose or draw.
You should both know by now styles and experience make fights. You completely writing Cotto off against Martinez is dumb, I agree that Cotto would be an underdog in this fight but he would also be one of the most skilled opponents that MArtinez would ever face.. But its not out of the realm of possibilities that Cotto beats him if they do they fight.
My point exactly. I wouldn't count Cotto out, regardless of the odds. I'd like to see him take the challenge; assuming he gets past Marg...
I won't,that's just crazy. That almost makes it sound like Ur saying Pacman is more dangerous than Martinez at 154.Which is absolutely preposterous,no disrespect.
Not drawing a comparison. Assuming Cotto wins the rematch Dec 3, it's time for Cotto to move on to the best and most lucrative fight out there. I believe that would be against Martinez, and a convincing win over Marg will give him credibility. Pac-Cotto is history.... All questions have been answered.
But there's a legitimate question mark about Cotto-Margarito, and it was also a tremendous fight Cotto was dominating until Margarito came on. Pacquiao destroyed Cotto, there's no need for a rematch and it would be just as bad as Pacquiao fighting Margarito, Mosley, and Marquez.
Agreed. I'd like to see Cotto avenege his loss against Marg. Forget the Pacquiao rematch, there's no unfinished business there. If he convincingly beats Margs, I love to see him take on Martinez at 154.
That wasn't my point, WHY is the question I'm asking. Why do you want to see Cotto get beaten to death?
Martinez vs Cotto isn't fair. Cotto was brutally beaten by Pac, a small man. Imagine what a lagit 160lb fighter with power and speed will do to him?
Come on man, nobody wants to see that fight. There's no reason for it.
A loaded question. You can't be certain that he will get "beaten to death".
In all likelyhood, we could agree that Martinez would come out on top. But the odds have never prevented Miguel Cotto from stepping in the ring against anyone.
Agreed, It was a Lovefest.
This fight really made me appreciate the element of rivalry and trash talking Mayweather brings to the table; and made me appreciate the ortiz/berto fight even more...
Lol jesus... HAHAHHA... Legal ok sure I give you that... Cheap shot, are you kidding me? Completely cheap, classless, and disrespectful to any boxer.
Yeah, sort of reminds me of the way the guy in your avi swung at Khan at the opening bell....
A guy with a great jab, great inside game, equal or greater reach as Floyd, southpaw, fast hands, and a relentless pressure fighter.
So in summary, nobody out there right now!!!
Closest guy in recent memory that I thought Definitely had a GREAT shot was Paul Williams.
= Sergio Martinez
The difference between a coward and a hero - they're both scared... it's what the hero does that makes him a hero.

Inside a ring or out, ain't nothing wrong with going down. It's staying down that's wrong.
-Muhammad Ali
The Pacquiao-Mosley fight makes BUSINESS sense. Casual and non boxing fans will buy into this, espcially during HBO 24/7 and other marketing venues. Sugar Shane is almost a household name; and I believe him when he said the fight was 90% done a month ago. The fight WILL sell, with or without the hardcore fans. At the end of the day, its all about the $.
To be frank Merchant is a disgrace to boxing, i dont give a toss if he is politcally correct or not, the man is a racist fool, There are thousands of people who can do his job twice over, and they would come across articulate and better than this old fool who comes across like a racist, bitter fool.
He has been doing this over and over again with different boxers, He need to learn how to be professional and keep his vile opinion to himself when interviewing a boxer who has just finish fighting after 3 months of training camp, the man is low class in my opinion.
I think your analysis is spot on. Times have changed dramatically since the days of Joe Louis, Ali, etc. Larry's mind set seems to be stuck in that era. Perhaps his post fight interviews had value in the 80's, but now he's become so complacent that he's forgotten how to remain objective. People tend to think that just because someone's been doing something for decades, it qualifies them to be forever competent. In Larrys case, people are just so accustomed to seeing him there, they're not ready to accept a change. After Sat nights interview, I sayhis time has expired.
I'm absoloutely shocked to see how many people are looking forward and willing to pay for this fight. I, for one, will not be paying for it. And, I'm asking all my Hispanic/Latino people not to buy this fight, either; no matter how enticed you may be to see Ortiz and/or Saul Alvarez fight (Saul will be on undercard). It may sound racist or intolerant or even prejudice, and for that I apologize (as that is not my intention); however, it's time for the promoters to stop taking advantage of our passion/pastime by trying to fool us into buying a fight by simply putting a Latino fighter on the card. Especially when one fighter is reported to make $40 million and the Hispanic fighter is reported to only make about $2 million... I will not be contributing to that. Those of you who feel the same way, join me! Those of you who don't, don't.
I hold the opposite view...
I see this is an a opportunity for Ortiz; a win/win situation. Everyone wants a shot at May/Pac and he got it. If Ortiz pulls off the upset and wins, he becomes an instant draw, gets a lucrative shot at Pac and will become the posterboy for success. If he loses, he still gains worlwide exposure, experience against arguably the pound for pound best, plus few will discredit him for a loss against mayweather; not to mention he becomes a millionaire. This is one of the best things that could have happened to him...
Timothy Bradley is highly skilled. There's just something inherently boring about the guy, just lacks the charisma that a huge PPV draw world champion has. Not sure he'll get past Khan, but If if he does, I don't even think HBO 24/7 will get the general public excited about a potential showdown with Pac or May
