This a match-up that was doomed from the beginning. This may sound controversial but I watched two men that had far, far, FAR to much respect for one another. I've watched thousands of boxing fights and It doesn't take a genius to work out from their body language something wasn't right last night! I found myself screaming at the TV 'This is a professional boxing match, not a freaking sparring session.
I'm not saying this fight was a fix or anything like that but even Barry Mcguigan and Ricky Hatton said the same thing 'I seen a fight with two men who had to much respect for one another, and that's why the fight was so laclustre' Whilst some will not agree with me, I know some felt the same way and were aware these guys didn't want to be in there.
From the in on bell I acknowledged both fighters were tippy tappy and touched gloves more than 40 odd times - this isn't normal at all. Now, before you shoot me down, I absolutely have no problem with touching gloves, but this was to an excessive extreme, hell they were even hugging eachother in there!
Mosley looked scared to death, and was looking for a pay cheque - he wasn't there to win. Pacquiao was far to 'nice' to Mosley, and I believe carried him pretty much through the fight, this wasn't a boxer who wanted to beat someone up (like other outings).
Pacquiao and Mosley are the biggest gentlemen in the sport of boxing, these guys didn't want 'FIGHT'. Like I said before I've seen thousands of boxing fights, and it doesn't take anyone with half a brain to realize what was going on in there.
Mayweather will sure be laughing his head off. Whilst both fighters are great men, they didn't want to be there. These guys are 'friends' for heavens sake, this wasn't two men who wanted to take eachother head off. Jorce Arce an Vazquez were both friendly but they weren't shy to put a beating on eachother, they acknowledged this is boxing, something Pacquiao and Mosley forgot.
I can only hope Pacquiao fights someone who wants a 'war' - not an opponent who is scared to death to fight him.
that why I said mosley always do that to manny first trying to touch the gloves. but when manny get called for KO he didnt touch the gloves at all :) now its mosley fault he's too much friendly against pacman. He never wanted a real fight against pacman. U saw it too when pacman started assault over the KO called on him, Mosley run away LOL
I agree that Mosley was the one who iniated the touch of gloves. Mosley plain and simple didn't want none. Pacquiao was happy to carry him through since Mosley was no danger to him, which made for such a boring fight.
Mosley had no intentions to win this fight other than pick up his pay slip.
This is why Floyds fight with Shane was better, Floyd made sure there was Bad Blood between them, the punches had meaning in that fight. This fight was meaningless
Yeah and people slate for people talking trash before a fight. When a good guy fights another good guy, you know the fight will suck.
Pacquiao needs someone who really wants to hurt him and shake him up. I pray a worthy opponent is next on the list, Pacquiao hasn't been in a competitive fight since Cotto.

This is a boxing match dude. When you knock someone down you go for the KO, you don't touch gloves. This has never been seen before, it's a joke.

I guess that what you call sportsmanship. Mosley always go first to touch the glove at the end of the fight, pacman just reply to it LOL>

I mean what the hell? Touching the glove of your opponent after knocking them down in a boxing match? That sums the event up.

pac said sorry for knocking mosley down and touched gloves. mosley wasn't even hurt he just looked so sad that his friend had betrayed him and thrown a real punch.

What are you talking about? Did you see after the referee made a mistake Pacman started assaulting Mosley non-stop, but mosley always cling to pacman to stop the assault. And if another boxer cling into you and lock your arms, Its not easy to get out, if you force it you ended up hurting yourself.
Yes because Pacquiao was annoyed by it. Pacquiao was fighting like a guy with no intention to put a beating or knock-out Mosley prior to that.
Mosley and Pacquiao had there minsd elsewhere, that's my point. These guys didn't want to freaking have a fight. Mosley basically throwed nothing, he was scared for heavens sak... and Pacquiao was being to nice.
This fight was never going to be a war.
Pacquiao needs a guy who wants to put a beating on him, not a guy who is there to survive. His next opponent needs to be someone that wants to FIGHT.
Well this obviously rules out a Khan vs Pacquiao fight for ever happening.
The only person at this time that could give Pacquiao any challenge is Mayweather, or Martinez.
It's sad that fans have a true chance to see how GOOD Pacquiao really is, and Pacquiao fans are scared of Martinez, there saying that Martinez is too big.
If Pacquiao were to beat Martinez, he would be hands down better than Floyd, at that point Floyd could beat Pacquiao and still NOT be ranked higher than him.
wtf here we go again...martinez shud fight in higher weight classes to prove his greatness rather than challenging manny to a weight class that he cant make,,,if martinez wants manny, do it on 147.....stop riding martinez' d*ck
Stop believing that crap this wasn't a big money fight anybody who knew Mosley knew he was shot. Manny could of fought any title holder from 135-154 and made just as much if not more money. Manny fought Shane for one reason and one reason only he wanted a non competitive easy win
I dont agree, For us hardcore boxing fans yes, there where better match ups, but to sell big PPV you need a mainstream name that the average joe has heard of.
Shane Mosley is that, my brother is not a boxing fan, he's never heard of Bradley or Ortiz or Khan or Berto but he has heard of Pac and Mosley. He came over to watch the fight based on that. He lost enthusiasm when he saw Mosley had lost and drawn his last 2 fights, but he had heard of both fighters so thought he'd have a look.
Khan v Bradley is worth $3million to HBO yet to me its the no1 fight i wanna see apart from Pac v Floyd. But most people have never heard of either of them.
Mosley went into defensive mode yes but Pacquiao wasn't even pushing to really stop Mosley. It was two men that acted like they were best of friends. No one wanted to hurt eachother, or engage in a war, I found that evident from the start.

Win or lose Manny get $20 Million from this fight and Mosley get $5 Million from this fight.
It a shame that Mosley didnt go all out after from his first Knock out. He started clinging to manny till the end.
Mosley is fast too, it would have been better if Mosley go all out on manny like he did against Mayweather, but again that clean power punch from pacman scared the crap out of mosley and switch to defensive position all the way LOL.

It looked like a glorified sparring match terrible performance, Pac is showing sighs that he is past his best. I can't blame Mosley for this Fight at the end of the day its what I expected from a 40 year old man who hasn't won in 2 years, but I expected more from Pac, this fight made the sport I love look like a joke on a world level.
Agreed, It was a Lovefest.
This fight really made me appreciate the element of rivalry and trash talking Mayweather brings to the table; and made me appreciate the ortiz/berto fight even more...
You hit the nail on the head 'Lovefest' is the term for this fight. Pacquiao was to nice to put a beating on Mosley, he didn't want to hurt Mosley like Margarito. This wasn't a determined Pacquiao who wanted to brutalize his opponent, this was a half hearted one.
Pac is still ferocious if he wants to be. There is a reason Margaritos face was like that. But he is so dominant he can afford to ease off the gas pedal if he so wishes.
I said before the SSM fight that SSM is too nice for Pac to want to batter him.
Absolutely. Pac can still be lethal and have that fire, that depends on the opponent though.
Pacquiao wasn't a guy who wanted to beat Mosley up, he had to much respect for Mosley. Now, whilst that is a nice gesture, we're talking about a boxing fight here...
Very Disappointed in Mosley , After beating out Marquez in the Begging Sweepstakes for the Fight .I saw maybe 7 punches thrown with Bad Intentions by Mosley ,he was scared All night long. Not only it was a waste of some money i'm abgry cause it was a waste of my Time
I agree, it was way too friendly. There was more touching gloves that hard shots landed.
If Pac cant fight Floyd then at least fight a young up and comer with nothing to lose that is willing to be brutally KOed trying to pull off a miracle.
Shane had not much to gain and everything to lose of he got seriously hurt. Cant blame Pac really, I blame Arum for gong for the biggesy money fight over the most exciting.
Thank you, thank you. The touching of gloves was getting annyoing, and I don't want to point the finger at Mosley, but he'd often put his glove up first and Pacquiao the nice guy he is obliged everytime.
This wasn't two who were out there to kill each other.
And yes I agree, Pacquiao needs an opponent that trash talks and wants to whoop his ass. He just didn't seem motivated or his normal self. I hope someone like Ortiz is next, I know that would be two men looking brutally knock eachother out.
Two nice guys = bad fight. Pacquiao and Mosley are genuine nice guys, these guys didn't want to hurt one another.
Well this obviously rules out a Khan vs Pacquiao fight for ever happening.

You got that right son. Khan vs Pacquiao would be a joke, these guys would be steller than last night.
Pacquiao has to fight someone who wants to 'fight'.
Pac is still ferocious if he wants to be. There is a reason Margaritos face was like that. But he is so dominant he can afford to ease off the gas pedal if he so wishes.
