A guy with a great jab, great inside game, equal or greater reach as Floyd, southpaw, fast hands, and a relentless pressure fighter.
So in summary, nobody out there right now!!!
Closest guy in recent memory that I thought Definitely had a GREAT shot was Paul Williams.
He was comprehensively schooled by Carlos Quintana. A midget. Then KO'd by a single punch from Martinez that he was too stupid to see Martinez landing on him at will for 5 minutes prior to it rendering him unconscious. Then dominated by Lara.
He routinely gave up his (sizable) physical advantages so that he could brawl with guys half his size. He fought like a retard. Again - The Martinez KO is a perfect example of that. Instead of staying on the outside and fighting smart he decides to brawl with a smaller man and ended up unconscious for it.
And from what I recall, the Margarito fight was fairly close. Not discrediting the win, but it wasn't a blowout or domination by any stretch of the imagination.
He was overrated as f*ck when he was fighting and even more so now that people feel sorry for him because he's paralyzed.
Same thing with Valero only even MORE overrated because he's dead.
You are not analyzing this correctly. Williams had trouble with southpaws. Quintana, Martinez and Lara are all southpaws.
Even then, Quintana got KOed in the second fight and Martinez had enough power to neutralize Williams constant offense. Floyd doesn't have that.
Williams would be able to "see" and "hit" Floyd where others would have difficulty. Reasons are due to Williams being southpaw, his reach and height advantage. Also, Williams had a work-rate that kept on coming from round 1 to 12 no matter who he faced. He had great stamina.
Williams would be all wrong for Floyd. Floyd likes a slow paced fight where he sees everything that's coming at him. That is not Williams.

Floyd wanted no parts of Paul Williams or Margarito in their prime as welterweights. Both were tall fighters and would have given Floyd a lot of problems that is why Floyd stayed away from them.

Yeah ok....you HATE like a retard.
Quintana is 5'10" (hardly a midget) and probably taller than every fighter Floyd has EVER fought except for Chico. Plus Paul gets a pass because he was riding high off the Margarito win....and we know how the rematch went. PW is really a Welterweight but had to go up to 154 and 160 to find competition suitable enough. He beat, then got KO'd in a rematch from a miracle (but smart to do it early) punch from top 10 P4P Sergio...then, instead of taking an ez fight, what does he do in his VERY next fight? He fights and BEATS Lara (f*ck that, body shots count and Lara couldn't drop him because he was exhausted and could barely stand up straight - he couldn't catch Paul early enough like Sergio did). Matter of fact, Lara made his entire career off of that lost because people thought he was lazy and boring - until he CRACKED ANGULO'S SKULL.
So WHAT Paul gave up his height to fight - that's how he fought. He was the most exciting fighter at that time because of it. He went into the most feared man at Welterweight (Margarito) BACKYARD (American backyard lol) and BEAT HIS ASS. I guess you read Doug Fischer's report...please....that fight wasn't close.
Yeah I feel sorry for him because he's paralyzed but I'm sure many a boxer (including Floyd) are GLAD he's not in the game to take their '0'.
Valero unfortunately self-destructed before we could see his true potential, but dude was VERY skilled and super conditioned. His chin could be cracked, but I doubt if anyone was gonna make it look easy defeating him.
The thing is. There isn't just one style that can beat Floyd, there are multiple. The issue is his ability to adjust to the fighter and how he fighter responds.
Floyd can be beaten by brute Maidana or formally slick Judah, it doesn't take a special fighter.
He can? He hasn't yet..sure he may have ducked a few guys but besides Castillo, I've never seen him actually lose a fight. Thought Castillo was a draw.
I don't think the Floyd from last Saturday handles a prime Mayorga.
:crackhead
I have made some dumb posts but this is unbelievable. This is signature worthy.
Do you realize that Floyd Mayweather is past his prime and is 37 years old. Think about it for a bit, how many ATG's were still the P4P #1 fighters in the sport at that age? Also, anybody who knows a tiny bit of boxing knows that Madiana is a superior fighter compared to Rios. Floyd fights really bring the retards out apparently.
All the all time greats of the past could look good at 37 if they are on HGH and Testosterone Replacement Therapy. Another side Effect of added testosterone is the ability to produce twins or triplets which don't run in the Mayweather family but Miss Jackson looked how ugly the Mayweathers are and aborted the 2 ugly kids
Mayweather is too accurate to ever lose a decision at this stage. He piles up wayyyyyyy too many points throught out the fight. Crosses, hooks, jabs to the belly, uppercuts those CLEAN flush punches count chino fans.
at this point, he's a one punch at a time, counterpuncher, who's too defensive minded to throw combinations, for fear of getting caught big...relies too much on pre-fight negotiations to gain absurd advantages on opponents who honestly, he should beat straight up on paper...
if you are a unbiased mayweather fan, you gotta be concerned with this last fight...this wasn't like the cotto fight...floyd was missing often, looked distracted, and hung on the ropes and let a puncher bang on him for way too many rounds...just didn't look as hungry as in past fights...

fck subtlety indeed. agree on all points
No excuses...........
No excuses, right? Floyd is supposed to be TBE, right? Let's hold him to the standard he holds himself to. I call things for what they are, not what I want them to be. He struggled against a C Level fighter, PERIOD. If Manny does it, I'll say it's time to hang'em up. Retarded? Hahaha. check my track record man. Does it sound like I have a problem expressing what I want to say? I didn't think so. Keep the name-calling to yourself if it's not warranted.
