I don't think GGG badly wants Geale, just another guy to run over, who just passed on the fight. Whoever HBO wants is fine with him.
So Golovkin doesn't want a top middleweight/recent unified champ on his resume and would prefer Kirkland? Then he can stop complaining about top fighters not wanting to fight him and people criticizing him for for fighting 154 pounders.
He can't have that much say at HBO if his last 3 HBO purses add up to Berto's single purse vs Freddy Hernandez. That's why they love him, cause he fights whoever they want for peanuts. OTOH all his opponents they have to way overpay, so they get to be choosy.
His last fight was one of the highest rated fights of the year. He has plenty of leverage now.
It doesn't mean they'd accept him either. Per Gary Shaw, they don't seem too interested
They're going out to find a way way to air freaken Adama from Manaco even after K2 stood their ground and told HBO they weren't willing to move the date to some other time. After Geale's last FOY contender on HBO and Golovkin's top 3 boxing rating, you're telling me HBO will refuse to air this big MSG event out of sheer stupidity?
Manny did not even wanna negotiate..he said" i want 50/50" even after he told his fans " i will take less for the fight to happen" he just said "i want 50/50" and gave the phone to Konz
I meant it more in terms of given credit for accepting the fights. They're okay wins, but I'm not going to praise him for taking up those fights. He's not doing anything exceptional and brave that anyone else wouldn't do.
The same way people like to praise Cotto for fighting everyone. They say things like "I wish everyone was like Cotto. He fought the best and ducked nobody. Boxing would better if everyone would be like Cotto." No, he fought the biggest draws around him for huge pay checks. Anyone in Cotto's shoes would do the same.
And the hell If I'm going to praise Mayweather for fighting Guerrero. When Mayweather runs out of draws, he fights the Khans and Guerreros of the world instead of the fighting the real dangerous opposition around his weight class.
Mayweather being Mayweather has the special privilege of being able to fight anyone he wants because there's nobody who doesn't wants to fight him. He can carefully pick and choose opposition. He can fight all the high reward fighters without any trouble of getting them in the ring with him. Most of the time those high reward fighters tend to be okay to pretty good.
Most other fighters don't have the options Mayweather has. When the high reward fighters isn't available, most fighters fight the low risk fighters until they're lucky enough to land a high reward fighter, which isn't often. They only fight the high risk fighters when the reward is good, which again doesn't come often because it takes a while for the low reward/high risk fighters to build their name.
What does Maywether do when he runs out of draws to fight? He retires or goes on vacation. He skips the interim fights other fighters take so it looks like he always fights okay opposition. Other fighters face criticism for not fighting the low reward/high risk fighters when they fight the interims. Mayweahter avoids it by going on vacation.
And now that he has the Showtime guarantee, what doe he do instead of vacationing? He behaves exactly the same way anyone else does. When he runs out of draws, he fights the low risk Khans and Guerreros of the world until something better comes along.
To a certain extend, he's not unlike Sturm. Obviously Sturm's opposition hasn't matched Mayweather, but there's a parallel. Sturm's opposition is actually much better than the opposition of those middleweights who like to criticize him. Same goes with Mayweather. His opposition is actually better than of those who criticize him. This is because everyone wants to fight Sturm. His options are unlimited. He'll fight okay opposition. Okay opposition that would never get in the ring with the high risk fighters that criticize Sturm.
Donaire has 24/7, 365 drug testing, the only boxer on the planet. More should follow his example and Floyd should practice what he preaches.
Jean Pascal and Lucian Bute signed up for 24/7 365 random testing for the next two years.
Garth Wood is a bum man, it doesn't add up to 800k anywhere much less in a small market like that. So how much did Geale make for Albert, 200k max? This time around it's not even a title defense, with clubfighter opponent
Garth Woods knocked out Australian cashcow Mundine. He was in the Austrlian Contender reality tv show and won. He's known.
Murray turned down a $250k hometown title fight for a reason. Even before Garth Wood gave the specific number, Shawn Brown, a credible writer (Ring, ESPN, Boxingscene), alluded it would be a big payday.
Some of Murray’s fans have reacted angrily to the proposed bout on Twitter but one source told LF: “The offer for Murray v Wood was too good for Martin to turn down. It’s great money for a keep busy fight. It’s a great pay day, an easy fight and Golovkin is still likely in early 2014.”

Geale passed 2x, only once for a bigger purse. He was just offered the Monaco date, and instead chose to fight Garth Wood for much less money.
There was a $800K on the table for Murray-Woods. You'd think there would be less for the all Australian Geale-Woods?
I don't get why you get so worked up over a guy you clearly think has no chance of beating GGG. Right? What odds would it take for you to put some money down on Geale, 25-1? But hey, if you really do feel that strongly about it, I'll remind you to give proper credit when that fight is made, or when Geale passes again. Most others GGG haters will not be cornered like this, they know Geale is roadkill.
You're reaching "Mayweather wins every fantasy fight so he should have to fight them" territory, bro.
Trout is the best win between the two of them.
Ryan Rhodes has a win over Jamie Moore who knocked out Macklin.
Cintron was a joke when Canelo fought him. Lets not talk about that.
I give the edge to Canelo. And I'd honestly favor Angulo over anyone Golovkin has beaten if Canelo gets that win
They probably wouldn't refuse it, but might have a strong preference for Kirkland if that's an option. It wouldn't be out of stupidity, it's cause Kirkland is way better known, always in barnburners, at least has a punchers chance. Some 2 way action expected, unlike with Geale who can't even punch.
Wanting Kirkland over Geale is not stupidity. But refusing to air Geale is sheer stupidity. It's highly improbably they'd be stupid enough for the later.
Worst case scenario, Golovkin might get a slightly smaller purse to fight Geale over Kirkland. If money is his goal, then that's his prerogative and that's fair enough. If you're forgiving Golovkin for that, then you have stop saying Geale ducked Golovkin when he skipped over Golovkin for a significantly higher purse. If you still believe Geale ducked Golovkin, then you have to admit Golovkin is currently ducking Geale. You can't have it both ways here.
Nobody deserves any credit (more in terms of bravery points) for stepping up to fight Cotto or Canelo. They're big money fights. Anyone else if given the chance would do the same.
Yeah I do, there's no money in Geale Wood.
You know that how? What possible motivation does Woods have to lie about that?
I even recall Geale had a 5k sold out crowd against a nobody in Eromosele Albert. And Garth Wood is probably the 4th most well known boxer in Australia.
And I'm super skeptical about that 800k, always sketchiness around Aussie purses, especially when ridiculous like that.
Completely different people involved in that in the first Mundine-Mosley mess. And even then, the money came through in the second try.
So what odds would it take for you to bet on Geale?
1 to 4
Golovkin should just retire because he beats everyone then. No need to fight any remotely top competition because he beats them anyway.
I'm pretty sure all tickets have that little thing written in there that bout is subject to change. I forgot what fight this happened with, but it happened with a main event where the main event opponent changed after ticket sales.... I think it was Rios/Gamboa to Rios/Abril
Technically, you're right. But in principle, it's a shitty thing to do. That's why the least they can do is let Murray in so the people who bought tickets could meet him.
Like I said, the promoter isn't punishing Murray . I doubt he gives a fuck about seeing Golovkin live. The promoter is just punishing the paying fans.
He did? Where'd you hear?
Dude, you posted the link.

In a floydhype video, Mayweather said was going to stack with his money team fighters because family comes first or some bull**** like that. It's going to be terrible.
I love how seriously Mora takes his snake nickname. That last tweet was great. His twitter is full of random snake puns. One of my favorite snake related lines of his was in this maxboxing interview.
So can a “Latin Snake” change his colors?
“I think if people give me a chance, snakes are known to shed their skin.”
If Pacquiao wanted the fight then why did he walk away from a 50/50 spilt in '09 and why did he walk away from a 40 million dollar offer in '12?
Would you care to answer?
Pac was juiced up in 09. His fault it didn't happen. After he agreed to the testing though, the 40 million offer was a joke.
Only credible threats in his weight classes are Pacquiao and Lara. Maybe Bradley too, but I doubt it.
Guys like Garcia and Maidana would be a credible wins, but would not be credible threats.
Proof of injury is always required on contracts in order to pull out without getting sued. A doctor's note is required at least. And there's no real evidence that Murray is fighting Sturm next so this is kind of ****ed up.
Has every right to be. They're in his show, pull out less than a month before it goes down and they make him find replacements.
Makabu opponent is utter trash
How about the rights of the people who bought tickets to see Murray? They bought tickets with the promise to see Murray and Golden Gloves didn't deliver. The promoter is ultimately responsible. Unless refunds were offered, Golden Gloves is being the dick. The least they can do is let Murray in.
What's the injury? I haven't seen anything, have you?
He injured his hand.
It's not as if Murray is somehow missing out not being able to attend the show. He's not punishing Murray. He's punishing the people who paid good money.
Murray already punished his fans by pulling out of the fight with his "injury".
If Murray is injured, he's injured. If there was a doctor's note, then we'll have to accept it. There's zero evidence that he's not injured and that he's fighting Sturm. Even Sturm specifically denied the rumor. If Golden Gloves wanted something more iron clad, they could put in a contract that they needed to use a neutral doctor of their choosing. That's on them.
What exactly is banning Murray accomplishing? Murray gives zero fucks about seeing Golovkin live. He's not going to cry over not being able to see a boxing show live. The guy admittedly doesn't watch boxing at all that often. If anything, he would want to stay as far away as possible from him. The only possible thing it accomplishes is being a dick.
Thousands of dollars to watch him fight.....
If they wanted to meet him, they could've spent way less money doing it in England instead of flying out to another country, buying a fight ticket and a hotel.
I live in California. It doesn't mean I could just walk up to the houses of the many boxers who live here, and knock on their doors to meet them.
Obviously, they didn't buy tickets just to only meet him though, but it would be a nice consolation if they could just meet the guy if he's not fighting. There's hardcore fans for everyone who buy ticket just for one fighter, even if there's only a few.
