dont fool ureself we all know money may broke recordsa against bumsa like guerro and lemeuxa was a exciting fighter proabbably more populer than gueroo,,,
Lets not forget Robert Gurerro beat the crap out of Andre Berto the fight before.
Canelo vs. Smith is actually fight between two top 10 contenders at 154. It's not a great fight but it's not an embarrassment.
The issue isn't that Canelo isn't fighting a "quality opponent" the issue is you he called GGG on into the ring, looked him in his eye and boasted about how mexicans don't **** around when it comes to fighting whoever... not only did the fight not happen but he VACATED his title to avoid having to fight him bro. That right there is everything that is wrong with boxing today.
Some boxers take a KO defeat harder than others. Martin was bragging it up big time and talking the usual sh*t about unifying the heavyweight title and dominating the heavyweights for many years to come. Joshua gave him a fast hard dose of reality and it may have been more than he could handle mentally.
i mean if im not mistaken it was a BS title if i remember correctly... It was a vacant title and dude he was fighting hurt his knee in the middle rounds and they had to go to the score cards. I don't want to say he didn't earn that title because i wasnt with him in the gym putting in work but He shouldnt have been talking trash.
Wasn't the Martin fight back in the spring? Its just about to turn fall, it hasn't been long enough to start putting up 'Have you seen me?' posters yet.
i mean it seems like right after the fight he has went MIA. No interviews, training clips, nothing.
I feel like Haye's rep will be tarnished if he ducks briggs... Who will take him seriously? and Haye is everything that is wrong with today's boxing. The fans really wanted to see that fight go down whether you think Briggs had a chance to win or not. Haye will hurt the sport if he decides to fight another fighter... I hope the crowd chants lets go champ during his entire fight lol
I guess...but still. I don't think anybody can't really get behind the idea of a fighter faking something to save himself from a defeat. The sport already has enough credibility issues as is.
And anyway, I don't think there's any way it would've worked. If I recall correctly Broner was already trying to really sell it and exaggerate it, and the ref (I forget who it was that night) basically told him to STFU. He gave him his time to recover, and that was all he was going to give him.
He also took a point from Maidana. i mean saying a fighter faking a injury to save himself from defeat is kind of taking it out of context because AB was at the time the next Floyd. Plus it wouldve set up a hell of a rematch where broner couldve went back to the drawing board. and if he was to win the rematch( doubt he would but hypothetically speaking) if he won then All wouldve been forgotten about the first one. and he would probably be a PPV star by now.
That wasn't going to draw a dq it would've went to the cards
re read the post i said it would either draw a DQ or worst come to worst a controversial loss on the scorecards that would lead to a rematch.
Yea cause thats how true champs do it right
well i say this in the same fashion of Bowe and Golota even though bowe didn't take full advantage of it but Bowe was getting his ass whooped until golota hit him with the dirty shot. That kind of saved him from the embarrassment because just like maidana Golota was supposed to be a cherry picked fight for an up coming superstar at the time.
Listen to what you're saying, holmes. You're suggesting that a fighter should've faked his way to a DQ.
http://mrwgifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Shake-My-Head-Reaction-Gif.gif
It would result better then what he has now... If he wouldve faked his way to a DQ you can ask the question of "He couldve came back, He couldve gotten one good shot to end it but we will never know Etc." instead he got his ass whooped the entire 12 rounds and damn near had to get carried out of the ring. not to mention i believe Maidana Seriously hurt him with the head butt cuz he jaw got fat after the headbutt.
but you see what im saying though?
The reason he never got a rematch is because Floyd decided to fight Maidana. It's rare the champ doesn't get a rematch.
thats part of another reason was that the fight was so one sided that it was obvious they were on 2 different levels as fighters... but if AB wouldve took that dive a lot of un answered questions would've led to a rematch.
Its boxrec brother. Looks like a editor error to me. Maybe some other cat named Shawn Porter too. Porter ain't f#cking with White Delight Promotions & they aren't a PBC promoter.

WHite Delight promotions sounds like a Off brand **** Company
Canelo needed floyd to break a million
If canelo can't break a million with cotto, then I don't see any other opponent currently around that he could break a million with. Canelo vs thurman, ggg, charo, lara 2, saunders, Eubanks, cotto 2, Brook, bradley, Maidana, etc.. None break a million buys
I think Canelo vs. GGG Could come close if not get it.
They both should retire now. B-Hop seems pretty much retired anyways. Roy should've years ago.
B-Hop said that he wanted 1 more fight after his loss to Kovalev but it never happened. I just think it would be cool to see him and Jones fight 10 rounds as a co headliner maybe.
agree 100% alot of these fights i dont pay for is not because im too cheap or i think i can get it free somewhere else... I just don't think its worth my 60$ im willing too bet money that if Canelo and GGG happened this fall like it was supposed 2. It would have sold over 700k. PPV fights as of late havent did any real numbers because no one wants to see them.
Crawford-Postal
GGG-Lemiuex
are the 2 most recent flops
I was actually kind of suprised but not that GGG-Lemiuex only sold 150k. The Venue (MSG) was sold out, A-List Celebrities were in attendance and GGG is a knockout artist which this sport hasn't really had in awhile but at the sametime Lemiuex isn't really known to the world. and I knew Crawford-Postal would flop as soon as they announced it. Don't know why Bob Arum thought that was a good idea.
Clearly Canelo..
If Canelo beats GGG then yes i believe he will be the next star... But if he ducks
him or Loses to him then i think he will be ruled out. I don't think his next fight will break over 400k buys... Shouldn't even be a PPV IMO.
They were legit fights, not the biggest names, but deserving unification fights. All fighters pretty much in their prime.. Combined they should have been able to surpass tyson-mcbride PPv
I still can't agree on that one... Tyson is a PPV icon bro and a american icon which boils over outside of sports... He is pretty much why PPV is PPV till this day... Crawford is barely known to the casual fan, GGG is barely known to the casual Fan... and the guys they fought were barely known to even most hardcore fans. Not to mention people ordered Mcbride vs. Tyson knowing it would be Tyson's last fight. It's not fair to compare them. Not only that but it was there first time headlining PPV's.
