Floyd is kind of a draw, and kinda sorta got the "ppv guy" mantle for beating DeLaHoya, but with a fight between two elites you better believe HBO was the real draw... They put a lot of money into promoting that fight. And the real deal is that Floyd is mainly draw because he goes and does WWE/Dancing With the Stars/etc,not because he is a hugely popular crossover sports star. This fight (w/JMM) will tell the real story, and despite the massive push HBO is putting on it, I'll be very surprised to see it break 600. I'd bet the mortgage that it won't come within 150k of Cotto/Pacquiao also.
Yes nate quit, but he couldn't see out of his eye. The NC is the correct call.
Assuming he actually couldn't see, yeah, and who are we to doubt him, but it sure looked like he pulled a Rahman from the Toney fight to these eyes.
man i got a cut much worse that fool in a moshpit back in 01 (yes i couldnt see) but i still stuck it out and rocked the **** out till the show ended and i was only 16 surrounded by big ass drunk skinheads..so yes nate you are a Quiter!
Hahaha. I've gotten a worse cut hitting my face on the toilet seat when puking after a night at the bar. Not even joking.
Clotty 5'8", Cotto 5'7", Judah 5'7.5", Floyd Mayweather, Jr. 5'8", Shane Mosley 5'9", Berto 5'8.5''. Small WW? Compared to whom? Paul Williams? And have you seen him? He must come in at fight night around 165, he started his career as a middleweight.
Limited in his skills? He's no one-one-two fighter like the old Manny. He can throw the uppercut as well quite effectively.
A guy that's 25-0(12 KO's) knocking out the naturally bigger man? I doubt it. So how exactly will Bradley knock him out? Another Nate Campbell headbutt?
It wouldn't surprise me if Bradley won, but I would give Berto the decision because he's the naturally bigger man and would impose his will on Bradley.
Berto isn't exactly the type to impose his will on other fighters.
I agree, he has a million reasons to drink but I think he has like a million and one reasons why not to drink. It's sad that something so deadly as alcohol is legal and yet something so harmless as Marijuana is illegal :(
Agree. Honestly, I think a lot of this is overblown. Up here (Cleveland area here) we hear a bit about his partying, but not all like that. I have it on pretty good info (FOAF kinda thing) that the staph infection is real and that Kelly will be back, and he'll be looking for blood. He's not accustomed to being this inactive and will be a mean MF when he comes back.
Hopefully Roy fights and beats Green, Hopkins fights and beats Adamak, then they face off at 200 for the championship. That's the perfect scenario, it's very realistic, and I think Hopkins probably takes it; he's no Jeff Lacy.
I you fu.ck up a million dollar career by drinking then you are a fu.cking loser.
If you're the middleweight champ of the world crawling out of a hole like Y-Town you can do what you damn well please IMO.
Tyson is a moron
The Klitschko brothers are huge superstars
Maybe in Germany and some of Eastern Europe, but would the average American, Brit, Mexican, etc. recognize them? No way. Tyson was 100% correct. Guarantee he is more recognizable to the man on the street than both K bros.
Depends on whether Bernard goes to Cruiser. Honestly I don't think anyone really wants to see another fight between these two. Two were enough IMO. Hell, one was enough.
Besides, the tournament is going on for another what, 18 months? BHOP will be damn near 46 or so by then.
Hes right not just the HW division there are many divisions with champs who dont have the charisma/excitement package but they have great skills like. Klitchko I think was ruined after his losses hes so safe he will risk nothing thats his problem.
Agree partially, and partially I think it's just the Mason Dixon thing; there's really no fight (well, there is one, but I'll leave that alone, as we know they'll never make it...) that would define him as a fighter. As it stands, WK's career is defined by stoppages, not by a solid victory in a tough fight over a good fighter.
:owned2: by the poster above me :nana:
Cause he spouted some hearsay nonsense about Pavlik spending time at the bars (it's not nearly as big a thing as it's made out to be... people are riding the ignorant train on that one)? Maybe he just has an infection that won't go away... staph infections can be real mofos...
OK, guess I'm owned. Not nearly as bad as the boy in your avatar was by KP though... ran away like a little girl from the Ghost.
OK folks... at some point you have to realize the difference between a press release - which this was - and a normal bylined article, which you'll generally see as the lead item on the site every day.
Press releases are generally sent out by PR reps or publicists and yes, they tend to go a little far in terms of the truth. But that's what a PR person's job is, to generate publicity and make the client who's paying them look good.
Every site uses them, not just this one.
A bylined article - whether a news piece or an opinion column - is different, as most discerning readers can tell.
So, before you continually bash people and whether or not they're qualified to produce content, try getting a clue. Because without it, you just sound like an idiot.
Exactly. Beat me to it.
I tend to agree. I'll be somewhat surprised to see this break 500k, especially in this economy. Like I said in another thread too, I don't think this will come within 150k of Cotto/Pacquiao.
You think Pavlik would have beaten Calzaghe? How does Calzaghe run away from a fighter who fights at 160 while Calzaghe fought at 168 and 175? :dunno:
Pavliks a one dimensional come forward type of fighter, double up the jab Pavlik!!! And he has one of the worst trainers in boxing history.
The Lockett fight was a setup for a Calzaghe-Pavlik fight; when Pavlik demolished Lockett, Calzaghe decided he wanted no part whatsoever and fought Roy Jones instead. We know what Calzaghe said about Roy in his little pamphlet right?
Couldn't land the right on Bhop all night and JC is faster than him. KP is a slow plodding one dimensional fighter who's only claim is beating an overrated Taylor. Before you reply Taylor beat Hopkins; BHop win over KP was MORE convincing than either win Taylor was awarded.
I wouldn't reply with "Taylor beat Hopkins" I'd reply with "Joe is far more open to the right that Hopkins is and would eat Kelly's right all night long."
Ffs, Pavlik should just vacate the titles and fight all the bartenders he wants.
Like it's Pavlik's fault he's injured? Ridiculous. He's on the brink of making a serious FOTY candidate; let him heal and fight Williams.
It would have been Jeff Lacy vs Calzaghe all over again...KP didn't really want to fight JC.
Pffft. Calzaghe's girl slaps would do nothing to stop Pavlik from coming forward; he'd land the right all night long on Jo.
Too bad we'll never know cause Jo went and fought a shell of Roy Jones who he admitted was washed up and said he'd never fight.
