PALA, CA - Undefeated Nigerian junior middleweight Albert “THE PUNISHER” Onolunose has stepped in to face Grady Brewer in the main event this Saturday night, August 22nd at the Pala Casino Spa and Resort, it was announced today by Chet Koerner, President of TKO BOXING Promotions.
Brewer was originally scheduled to face Philadelphia’s Anthony Thompson who withdrew this past weekend from the fight.
Said Koerner, “Thompson just backed out, he left a message claiming that he’s retiring from boxing and doesn’t want to fight anymore. Luckily Onolunose has stepped in to face Brewer on short notice.”
“Onolunose is undefeated and a very aggressive fighter which should make for an action packed fight this Saturday night.. We’ve got a terrific card put together for the boxing fans in Southern California and we’re looking forward to a great evening of entertainment.”
The Onolunose/Brewer twelve round bout will be contested for the I.B.C. Junior Middleweight World Title as the headline bout of “TKO World Championship Boxing at the Pala Casino.”
Onolunose is guided by award winning manager Cameron Dunkin who also counts world champion Kelly Pavlik, Nonito Donaire and Steven Luevano’s amongst his vast stable.
“Onolunose is a real fighter, I don’t know what Thompson’s problem is at this point. He won’t even pick up the phone from me or Chet. Albert’s wanted a bigger fight for a while, he’s been in training and he’s ready to battle Brewer on Saturday night. The fans at the Pala Casino are going to see a great fight between Onolunose and Brewer" said Dunkin.
The 28 year old Onolunose brings a record of 18-0-0 with seven knockouts into the battle with Brewer. Most recently, the resident of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, knocked out Steve Walker on April 25th in the second round.
Since defeating former world champion Stevie Forbes in 2006 for The Contender, Season Two championship, Brewer, 24-11-0 (13 KO’s), fighting out of Lawton , Oklahoma, has fought twice since fully recovering from knee surgery. Amongst the most popular boxers in the sport, Brewer is coming off a 10-round decision win over Cornelius Bundrage in Providence, Rhode Island this past November.
