Kimbo Slice will knock out Roy Jones and its going to be fuking disgusting seeing a youtube fighter with fixed fights on his pro record knocking out one of the most naturally skilled fighters of all time who doesnt no when to quit. Then we have to watch the post fight interview with Jones slurring his speech talking about how he wants a rematch and how hes going to be champion again.
Seriously, once Kimbo knocks him out, his legacy will forever be tainted. What a shame.
I'd say Froch and Kessler for sure. The only other close possibility is Andre Dirrell, but he's been out of action lately and if he had to go into the fight tomorrow to fight Dawson, I think he would lose.
Anybody who thinks for one second that Robert Garcia belongs in this conversation then apparently they dont know boxing, boxing is about hitting and not getting hit, thats called skills, besides Nonito that he recently got and was already molded into a skillfull boxer all of his other fighters have no defense what so ever and get hit with every shot thrown at them then throw punches, how hard is that to coach all you have to say is go after them. My pick would have to be Ward's coach, sergio martinez coach,Nacho, maybe even Broners coach....again this is just my opinion about this conversation
I respect your opinion. But to me, being a coach is a lot about working with the talent you got. Most of Garcia's fighters come to him on the down side of their career. He's almost like a rehab coach trying to get his fighters back into the mix. He doesn't really have the luxury of high end, raw talent fighters (minus Nonito, who you mentioned could be considered an exception). He took Brandon Rios (who had a pretty dismal amateur background) and turned him into a world champion. His brother Mikey Garcia is a world champion and on his way to a big fight, hopefully (I know it could be argued that Mikey's main coach is his father). Kelly Pavlik had pretty much a career and personal meltdown and he was able to get him off the boos, and get him back into the ring and win some fights. And Maidana, coming off of a land-slide loss to Devon Alexander, did a pretty good job (albeit not perfect) of getting back into the win column with his recent TKO over Soto-Karass.
Again, his fighters are far from perfect and could be argued that they lack talent compared to a lot of the blue chip fighters in the game today. But IMO, I think he deserves credit for taking the fighters that many probably would have given up on and getting some good results. But yeah, just my opinion.
It wasn't just the trainer the weight and his psyche after the Marg loss were factors as well. But still, Cotto knew how to jab, hook etc... Also Cotto did have Steward for two fights prior to Diaz and he looked much more technical already, he brings a great gameplan no doubt. But I want to see him build a fighter, that takes much more skill than taking over, period.
Totally agree. Great potential, but early to say he's the best right now IMO.
Even if Bradley had lost, I doubt there would have been a rematch. I think Manny won decisively enough where he wouldn't get the praise that Cotto is getting for losing to Mayweather (not to say that the Cotto/Mayweather fight was that close or anything). At least with the "win", he's the "champion" at welterweight, which "should" give him some more pull in the game...even though he's kind of like the desperate guy that can't find a date to prom no matter how hard he tries. The real issue, win or lose, is that he's with Top Rank, which means that most of the interesting match ups wont happen because a lot of the talent at 140 and 147 are in the Golden Boy stable. Hence why we are left with the rather unexciting Bradely vs. Lamont Peterson II.
Berto has a history of having difficulty fighting south paws. Colllazo and Ortiz gave him a lot of trouble. He's susceptible to straight left hands...which is Manny's money punch. It's also the one punch that Manny is still able to throw pretty well. IMO, Manny would overwhelm Berto and stop him in the late rounds.
Favorite Fight: Ali vs. Frazier III
Favorite KO: Buster Douglass KOs Mike Tyson
Favorite Shutout: Shane Mosley white-washes Antonio Margarito
Favorite Brawl:Morales vs. Barrera I
not a surprise. paulie didn't look too hot. I had Cano winning by 2pt. And Morales (an out of shape Morales) systematically outboxed Cano. Maybe this triangle analogy is a stretch but paulie didn't look good at all.
I had Cano winning by a 1pt. Good point about Morales. But Maidana looked pretty bad against Devon Alexander...I still think he could pull off the win, but I see him struggling with Paulie's jab and his lateral movement.
An Ortiz in a right state of mind takes it.....but Ortiz is as stable as Lindsay Lohan.....
Totally agree. If the Ortiz that fought Berto comes to fight, he'll get the win. However if the Ortiz that fought Maidana/Lopez comes to fight...he's gonna get wiped. And I think it's accurate that Ortiz is as fickle than Lindsay Blowhan. Plus he could be totally mind-raped from Lopez sending his jaw to the rafters in his last fight...I wouldn't be surprised if Ortiz curled up in his seat when he saw Garcia almost take the head off of Morales with that left hook.
50 starts by verbally abusing floyd with his lyrical mind, floyd flips out and throws the first punch 50 takes it like a man and grabs floyd by the throat and starts man handling him. Miss Jackson comes in with a steel chair and tries to hit 50 in the back but he ducks and she hits floyd with the chair. Curtis takes the chair off her forcefully kisses her and throws her to the ground. Floyds pretty much outcold 50 starts stomping him and hitting him with the chair. Roger and floyd sr jump in and rush 50 but out of nowhere comes roach and PAC they start attacking the mayweathers it turns into a 6 man tornado tag team no holds barred brawl. Bob arums theme music starts playing and he's laughing at the bloody mess that's been caused he jumps in and attacks floyd.. From here it looks like there's no hope for the mayweathers then *womwomwom* ellerbes theme song comes on he jumps in and starts stone cold stunnering everyone grabs floyd and pulls his body over 50... 1 2 3 ding ding ding your winner and the new streetfight champion money mayweather
lol, seriously best reply ever. "Uncle Floyd" Ellerbe to the rescue!
I swear I was about to make this thread last night, but with a little more detail.

It's comforting to know that he's focusing on getting a stronger neck...but in IMO, just like punchers are usually born punchers, fighters with glass chins will always have a glass chin.
Not true....he is fighting blue chip prospect and undefeated Sharif Bogere in 3 weeks. And if Rios beats Alvarado, Rios should settle the score with Abril to make things right.
"Blue Chip" and "prospect" don't go together. Name one big name that Sharif fought that makes him anywhere near a class A fighter? I mean, is he a strong prospect? Maybe...but IMO, it has yet to be seen.
Well even if he says he isn't paying attention, I'm sure he's aware that Trout shouldn't be underestimated. It's a response to a presser...what is he supposed to say..."yes, i'm paying attention to Trout's attempt to talk ****..." Cotto and Diaz are professionals, they aren't going to take Trout lightly.
Well to be fair, I think it was Manny that suggested to Freddie that they need a knockout this fight, rather than the other way around. And by Roach agreeing, I think it's because he knows that getting a wide decision on Marquez in Pacquiao's favor is going to be nearly impossible....Marquez is just too good. Plus, I think Freddie is worried about the judges being extra critical of Manny after the controversial decision of their last fight.
IMO, I don't think Manny necessarily NEEDS a KO over Marquez. He could win a decision if the fight is clearly one-sided (highly unlikely). If it's close and it goes to the judges, I can see the judges giving it to Marquez this time. So I can understand why both Manny and Roach are looking for the KO.
IMO, I was disappointed by Nishioka's performance. He basically fought one handed for the first 6 rounds, and holstered his jab completely. Respect for a left hook is one thing...but seriously, you should weigh the cost/benifit ratio before gluing your right hand to your face for half the fight.
This guy clearly lost to abril..now and somehow he deserve a title shot and big fights after that...what about abril..does he deserve that too..
Abril committed career suicide by fighting Rios. Do I think he won the fight? Yes. But the way he fought gave the judges an easy out to give the fight to Rios. Now, nobody is really going to want to fight Abril. He's a awkward technician that's rather hard to hit, that has almost no drawing power. Why would any blue chip fighter ever want to fight this guy? There's too much risk and almost no reward. So does he "deserve" it? In an idealistic world, sure. But boxing is a cut-throat industry and Abril is going nowhere fast.
IF this fight goes down, I agree with most to say that Manny would destroy Rios. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching Rios and I think he deserves a lot of respect after what he did to Alvarado, but that doesn't mean that he's anywhere near ready to face one of the fastest, most powerful punchers at 147. It seriously will be Margarito all over again, but I don't think Brandon's chin will uphold for 12 rounds (unless Manny shows mercy like he did to Margarito).
But remember, this fight will only likely happen IF Manny gets passed Marquez. Easier said than done.
It's more like the winner is going to fight Marquez. I don't think Manny is going to be able to get past him this time. Besides, Rios or Alvarado don't stand a chance against him anyways.
