Anyone ever had a rib injury? For whatever reason my ribs are especially vulnerable to bruising. I sparred a week and a half ago, and got hit with a good body shot right at the lower cusp of my rib cage. Sparred the next day, got hit in the same spot with a power shot. Now, I can't even take a dump without feeling it. I can't get out of bed without feeling the damn thing, and its taking forever to heal. I want to train but im worried i will make it worse. There is no visible bruise, but it hurts like hell. Anyone else experience this?

Thinking about buying a body protector or something for next time i spar.

Had one late February. Took 6 weeks to recover fully.
I sparred with my nephew and we both got bruised in the ribs.
    Did not take much.
I was dying the morning after. Could barely get out of bed. Had to roll.
    Same thing for him.

Title sells a cheap thin body protector. You might want to check it out.

I've had it once before, and have it a little at the moment, although it doesn't hurt so bad.

I heard it might be a cracked rib. How can you know the difference without an x-ray? Is it possible to get a cracked rib from 16oz gloves?

Guys, if it's a broken rib, he'd know.
          It's just a bruised rib .
When I got mine, I was dying in bed for two nights.
          Walking even hurt.
I had to take some pain killers .
After 5 days, it became much better .
But, it will take weeks to become fully healed.

You can't spar for two months.

Well im going to have to invest in a body protector, because this seems to be a recurring thing for me. Last time it happened I was doing jiu-jitsu. It feels much better now, but I need to be able to train and spar without getting hurt.

Anyone have a specific light body protector they can recommend?

I've had broken ribs from a training mishap (not from a punch). I had no idea I had broken ribs. It only hurt when I threw a right hand. I sparred and competed with broken ribs.

Luckly i've never had broken ribs but i tend to get what i think is straining of my intercostal muscles on my left side, annoys the hell out of me, and tends to flare up without getting too much damage. Last time i got it was when i was having a very gentle spar, the bloke hardly brushed my ribs but messed up my training for a few weeks.

take a break. solid amateur named Nivarro from Peru nailed me good with a right hook when I was jabbing. I was just playing around with him, I was more advanced. but he could punch and nailed me good ;p I felt it right after. knew i was ****ed. felt it for a month. just take a break from sparring, you'll be fine. stretch. dont **** around with it or it'll never heal right.

Awesome thanks guys. I don't mind training through a little pain, but i want to train Smart at the same time.

Thinking about trying one of these: http://www.evoshield.com/en-us/adult...ance-rib-shirt

What do yall think? It looks like it would be enough protection to prevent rib injuries, and also be light and mobile enough to spar.
