Good luck bro thats the type of times i wanna be hitting come July! Think thats realistic?
Thanks bud, I'll report how I get on....even if I don't achieve my goal. I'll leave it till Friday if it is really windy. Time trials and heavy winds don't mix.
As for your July target of five miles in under 30 mins, I'm not going to lie.....its really tough. I don't know anyone locally above 11.5 stone (161Lbs) who can do it. You seem to be a good few weight divisions above me in boxing terms which will make it harder.....and judging from the weightlifting thread you are lifting heavier weights too.
Don't get me wrong, it is do-able but you would have to give up the weights and work up to 50 miles a week over the coming months with fortnightly 5 mile time trials.
Your first goal will be 5 miles in 35 mins (seven minute miles). Then 6:40 per mile, then 6:24 per mile (thats 40 min 10K pace). Then trim it down to six minute miles.
Best of luck, you have the right mental attitude....when you get there sparring will be a breeze!!!!

I cant remember if gamboa moved to showtime or if hes still at fight club but both those gyms are hot right now. My boy was there when manny showed up to start training el ciclon. It was a big deal.
They got a lot of pros at both.

Id rather run in a drizzle or slight rain than sweat thru my clothes in 18 minutes.
Running at the beach is the best. Breezy and tons of beezies.

Tomorrow I've got a five mile time trial, I'm hoping for sub 30 mins......fingers crossed.
I got my sub 30 minute 5 mile time tonight. Actual time was 29:48......and I didn't find it easy at all.
I've got a 5 mile road race next week, its through the streets of a town, so I'll be lucky to get under 30 mins.....but fingers crossed!!!Last edited by Sugarj; 01-26-2012, 06:03 PM.

Im going for a 10mile run with a mate tonight though even though its bucketing down with rain.... I Promise! lol I Need to before i lose all the momentum ive built!
EDIT:
Well my mate punk'd out on me but i did a decent run at a fair pace, didnt have anything on me to record the distance and i never checked times either.....
Worked it when i got home though at about 7miles which im happy enough with considering i was expecting a buddy there and that it was beyond cold outside, my hands were like ICE!Last edited by The Surgeon; 01-29-2012, 02:42 PM.
