  • Should i start going to a gym?(bag video)

I'm 25 I work out and what not but i'm a garage boxer well its more of a pole barn i think i might get pretty good if i devote an hour 3 times a week to an actual boxing gym but the nearest one is 45min to 1 hour away so the 1 hour turns into 3 hours im gonna keep working out and ive only been on the boxing tip for like 2 months i have a few other things going for me im just gonna stick to sparring my friends if your opinion is that im going to be 30 before i get any where or i could start going to the gym next week if you think i might go pro with in a year or 2. The bag might be 50 or 60 pounds im not sure i got it from a friend but im 6'4" in comparison

not the worst but it's bad, tiny ass bag, switching stances, no guard.

if your serioos about boxing then go to a gym, in 1 years time you will laugh at that video and cringe at it.

slow down, stop flingin your arms about, punch coreclty, ....

go to a gym and you will leanr alot

Keep the bag stationary so you can focus on balance and form. Keep your hands up and maintain a more vertical stance instead of squaring up to the bag and punch off your lead foot- start with the jab and finish with a straight cross. Start with jabs and rights, try to focus on using bodyweight and hips and legs to get the power in the punches. I'm no trainer nor a boxer but I can see basic stuff- you are not balanced properly and too square.

Yeah definately need to work on keeping a stance when throwing the punches but i dont under stand how to throw a normal punch? are there videos on you tube of the correct way that you can point me to? that video i was just hitting the bag though i guess i should allways try to keep stance and guard so ill post a new video in a little once ive worked on stance and guard. If your from Pa or around Pa ill spar you i have no need to be afraid of anyone that dosent mean that i wont get my ass kicked though

                Thanks for the advice

Really need a bigger bag im 205 so maybe 100 lb bag or bigger?

You admit you haven't been to a gym yet these people think they're God's gift because they've been to a boxing gym to learn boxing. OF COURSE HE CAN'T BOX, HE HASN'T BEEN TO A BOXING GYM, TWATS!

The bag you have is too small for you, it looks like a junior bag. If you want a punch bag make sure you have a heavy bag, you're a big guy so you don't want it to swing around so much.

You're too old for any coach to accept you into their team due to legal age restrictions. There are two types of boxing gym, one - you go and pay each session, you learn to box, slowly, usually a few quid a session. Two - You join a team, even before you're part of that team you train with the team and become part of the team, when good enough you officially join. Usually a few quid a week. The latter is out for you, so you're going to have to find a club who does the former, some do, some don't.

Always go to a boxing gym if you like boxing, you can't be a boxer though, the age limit is 35. You can to some extent train though and can still learn the techniques.
