Boxing targets the head, body and nothing else, definitely more damaging to the brain as a sport. Along with retrached retinas and the list goes on. The comparsion was just brought up due to the fact that common folks always look at MMA and thinks it has more long term damage than boxing... but its the other way round. Of cos that is just in general terms... as there are always exceptions for certain fighters

    • To die in battle for what you believe, that would be the greatest death

Jess Willard.....Warrior Shattered Jaw? still fought 2 more rounds and got many more ribs broken against dempsey

Jim Jeffries....Warrior took down Fitz after having open gashes over both of Jeff’s eyes, broken his nose and cut both of his cheeks to the bone.

John Sullivan.....Mother f'n Warrior 75 rounds with kilrain last bare knuckle match scheduled for 80 rounds

Perhaps there arnt any modern day warriors in boxing. Id imagine though if more people were like these guys we wouldnt be having this discusion about boxing vs mma

It's not naive. I've been training in some type of combat sport since I was 9 years old when I started Shotokan Karate, picked up Thai Boxing, Wrestling, BJJ and Judo along the way.

Let me tell you right now that more factors that just the sport affect how you fared, i.e., who were you sparring in each sport...what kind of seriousness was shown in the spars...how many breaks did you give yourself..how many times, if your opponent was more skilled than you, did he show mercy and let you off the hook...I know for a fact if you did go 12 3 minute rounds, at age 20, you either fought a guy with a large amount of mercy on you, a guy with no pulse, or a punching bag. Bottom line.
I sparred 5x5 minute rounds with 30 second breaks between rounds @ 75% rate. So punches, kicks, knees aren't with full power but they still have some sting to them. I had a fresh opponent I believe on the 1st, 3rd and 5th round if I remember correctly. What does it matter what the level of competition was?

Sorry you don't believe me. You are trying desperately hard to convince yourself that boxing is better requires more talent and more skill. You're a blind hater. Don't believe me then.

You still wouldn't last 5x5 minute rounds.

Same thing with the MMA, yeah, you may have went 5 5 minute rounds, but with who? Most likely a tomato can, and I'm only saying that because in reality, the smallest dogs have the largest bark, and the largest dogs have the smallest bark...and you, kid, are barking up a tree in this thread...
Whatever helps you sleep at night.

        ps

That still doesn't take away from in the 20 years history of MMA in some form or another be it Pride, Pankration, UFC the deaths are minimal if not, non-existant.

No, I'm well aware of the amounts of douchebags there are in the sport. Just like boxing, you have you're fans who are humble and know how to respect both sprots, and you have the douchebags who like to compare.

"As long as im conscious im going to fight" infers that i have yet to be choked out and in fact that you are correct and i would not be able to fight if i was unconscious

if it was between submitting or sacraficing my arm for a chance back on my feet i would take my chances on my feet with the hanging arm i still might not be able to win but i would take that chance. maybe im the idiot if i lose but whos to say i lose.

Delusion is more dangerous than any technique, sir.

Machismo may ooze out of your pores but sacrificing a limb and possibly have it not function right for the rest of your life only to prove how masculine and manly you are is ******.

If Mike Tyson can appreciate MMA of all people, then what the **** is your problem?

You know I hardly ever talk **** over the internet. But I hope to God I see you cross paths with a person that trains MMA one day and you call them a *** and see what happens to you.
you must suck at boxing so you get discouraged and attempted to find another form of fighting, then start bashing on how ineffective boxing is LOL, truth is boxing is a pure demonstrating of altheltism and finess coupled with the requirement of speed, coordination and reflexes, Im sorry you lack natural talent so you resort to bgaygay, something that takes less natural abilities and relies more so on technique.

I however am a born athelete, I'm explosive, incredibly fast and carry the power to match, I excelled in boxing and have been doing so for 5 long years now, I am perfecting the art of punching and I can attest that it is one of the most effective, agile, powerful/explosive yet simple method of fighting.

I have wrestled in highschool for 4 years and 2 years in division 2 college, so I have the mma back ground. I watched UFC since its inception, I even became fond of it for a year or two but the trend got boring fast, compared to boxing, mmgay was just ugly to watch, their fighters exhibit poor striking abilities compared to boxers and if i want to watch world class wrestling I can turn to NCAA nationals.

There is a reason why mmgay fighters fight for less money.
