yeah, but that's a lot better than the unifying calzaghe has done.

Calzaghe has JUST started to unify, it reminds me a lot of how Bernard's reign and unification all started out.

Its sure hell a long time to hold a paper title IMO.

Hopkins crushed many MW contender not giving them a chance to show themself because he was training hard to keep that record. Nobody knew it intell he beat Oscar Del Hayo and Tito.

As far as I am consider Tito had the power even at MW he destroyed Joppy. and he had the power to KO Hopkins but not the tactics

Over time Hopkins was able to legitimize himself as a world champ and get rid of the paper champ tag...he did this long before he ever stepped in the ring with Tito.

My point about bringing this "paper champ" stuff up is because some make it sound like Bernard was this longtime undisputed champion when in reality he didnt unify the titles till very late in his career.

I wouldnt be surprised if Joe does the exact same thing.

Hopkins has the better names (Trinidad and Oscar), but they were blown-up welterweights.

Take away 'names', and Hopkins' doesn't even come close to Calzaghe's.

Echols gave Hopkins his toughest fight, yet Brewer anihilated Echols and Calzaghe took Brewer apart, for example..

Reid, Starie, Sheika, Woodhall, Veit x 2, Brewer, Mitchell, Lacy.

Their streak defenses are both laughable at best, but at least Hopkins beat some names of people that were 1-2 divisions smaller than him. Calzaghe has done absolutely nothing in his streak.

Johnson and Joppy?? I think I'm going be sick..

Sheika beat Johnson, then Joe bashes Sheika up. And is this the same Joppy who got a gift against an unmotivated Howard Eastman? He looked very average.
