calzaghe wins most of his rights by his high workrate. say what u want.. hes not as skilled as u think he is.. he has good power, speed, and stamina which is a kick ass combination, but hes not a great technician. He doesn't place his shots, he throws ****loads of them wildly.

roy in his prime would destroy calzaghe.. and i know calzaghe didnt want to fight roy no matter what was said.. period..

JC is a real good fighter.. but hes no technician in the ring.. i like the guy too.. hes real exciting in the ring.. thats just my 2 cents

Calzaghe might not be a textbook technician (and Jones is, is he?), but he's just more talented than everybody else.

Calzaghe is a master of timing and distance on natural ability alone. And he can throw 7, 8, 9, 10-punch combo's like it's a stroll in the park..

Nobody really can say how Calzaghe v. Jones or Hopkins would have gone. Neither Jones or Hopkins ever faced someone with that type of strength, with that kind of handspeed, who had that type of incredible workrate.

On the other hand, Calzaghe never faced anyone like Jones, who could match him in handspeed and who had stunning natural power and speed at 168, and never faced anyone like Hopkins, with that dirty roughhouse/defensive style who was (probably) as tough as he was.

So while we're all just guessing of course since it's a fantasy matchup, we're REALLY just guessing, because Jones and Hopkins never faced anyone who had all of the things that Calzaghe has, and vice-versa.

But the fact that Calzaghe and Warren were calling for a big fight with Jones and Hopkins on several occasions which fell on deaf ears. Hopkins, from what I understand, had a verbal agreement to fight him, but backed out a couple weeks later (probably after watching some Calzaghe tape for the first time).

              FACT 1.
Joe has a fear of flying hence his lack of ambition to get stateside.

              FACT 2.
Calzaghe would have given an unjuiced prime RJJ a close fight.

              FACT 3.
Put any American in the ring with Joe and he will perform 210% better than against boxers from other nationalities. He just thinks he has it to prove against the septics.

              FACT 4.
His rematch with Veit was a mandatory with the WBO and Kohl did call the date forward and practically killed the Magee fight. He was as previously mentioned offered a career high payday which frank Warren simply could not match.

              FACT 5.
He mainly spars with stable mates Bradley Pryce and Enzo Macaranelli. Only the lighter fighter is allowed to attack, Enzo is developing his defence against speed so has been asked not to return fire. This is in preperation for the Nelson fight if it ever happens.

Enzo M has only recently joined the stable, hasn't he?

There are a few other lads Joe spars with, some amateurs and a lad by the surname of Rees (they call him 'Reesy'?).

                  Pretty solid post!

I guess I have a tough time taking any fighter over a 168 pound Jones but Joe would have given him a fight-Joe would have had a chance and you really cant say that for any other Jones opponent.

Bernard...the Hopkins that just beat Tarver and lost razor thin decisions to Taylor has no shot in my eyes...for someone to convince me that Bernard could fight someone like Joe who is going to throw 90 punches a round at speeds Hopkins has not face since Jones...and keep up by pot shotting with a counter right 5 times per round...logic tells me Bernard cant win that fight.

Anyway, Enzo Maccarinelli, that's a pair of heavy hands right there. When he sparred with Gary Delaney, another heavy-handed ****er, they had to wear pillows, almost.

Enzo Maccarinelli is one of the most dangerous fighters in the sport today, just because of his power.

It's great to watch him fight, he loves to get stuck in there, and almost always gets in trouble.. then he can turn it around with one punch.
