Due to fragile hands, he can't do much sparring or much on the heavy bag (he has natural punching power, anyway). He doesn't jump rope, either. His thing is shadow boxing, pads, double-end bag, speedbag. He still trains in his dad's little hut in the middle of nowhere, with cobwebs on the walls, and that's where he's trained for 25 years.
He's old-school, he runs in the mornings (either through the narrow streets of Newbridge or up hills in the valleys) and never touches weights (preferring to do bodyweight exercises such as push ups, pull ups and sit ups). He runs all year round because he prefers to enter camp in shape so that he can train sharply from the off and not worry about having to take weight off. When he does spar, he only spars with welterweights to keep his speed. He relies a lot on natural ability, most of his training is basically just conditioning.
